PETALING JAYA: The government will provide a one-off RM1,000 Mobility Assistance Allowance to Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributors who secure new jobs located more than 100km from their homes.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said under the Act the allowance would take effect on Oct 1 through amendments to the Employment Insurance System Act 2017.

Among the changes is an increase in the Early Re-employment Allowance from 25 per cent to 50 per cent of the remaining unpaid Job Search Allowance for eligible workers who return to employment early.

"The daily Training Allowance will increase from between RM10 and RM20 to RM30, while the maximum Training Fee covered will rise from RM4,000 to RM7,000.

"This means contributors will receive better support to undergo training, improve their skills and adapt to current job market requirements," Ramanan said at the launch of the three-day Mega iLINDUNGu Festival: Kesuma Bersama Rakyat at Strand Mall here.

Ramanan said under the Act, support and protection provided under the Employment Insurance System (EIS) for each contributor amounted to up to RM25,000.

"However, this is subject to eligibility and the benefits received," he said.

Shizen Energy has also achieved financial close with financing from United Overseas Bank for the 29.99-megawatt utility-scale solar project, the Japanese company said in a statement. The project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2027.

“This milestone demonstrates the strength of our collaboration with Solarvest and HSS, supported by the facilitation of government and state agencies throughout the process,” said Shizen Malaysia CEO Reza Ikram.

In Malaysia, Shizen Energy’s cumulative installed capacity stands at about 60 megawatt-peak, including rooftop solar projects for corporate clients such as Top Glove Corporation Bhd (KL:TOPGLOV) and major mushroom producer Hokto Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
