We have a new project, converting a library/apps from unix to linux. The library/apps consist of C++ programs, some directory containing .shincl .conf .cmds .info files, which I don't know what is it for.

Now I'm a C and ESQL/C programmer in UNIX system, with some experience in unix scripting, very little knowledge in linux (as i know its almost same with unix), and a training in java (i understand classes). I'm willing to learn and read on my own WHILE doing the project, do you think I CAN do it? would I have a hard time understanding C++ even if I know C and basic java? and what are those .shincl .conf files?
