Currently digital technology is a popular medium. The production takes lesser time than the traditional medium. In other words, it allows the illustrators to produce work more efficiently.

Illustration is widely used in various sectors such as advertising, books publishing, games and etc. The progression of digital media has allowed the illustrators to speed up their work to meet the industry needs. As the digital media technology is becoming increasingly popular, the illustrators can have more freedom in artistic expressions and creation. But then, traditional painting has its own merits and characteristics as well.

As its predecessor, FOLIOR FEST 2 is a portfolio show & art market to showcase the ideas & crafts of the latest design graduates from Dasein Academy of Art.

HOMEWORK: JAPAN

Organized by Dasein Academy Creative Department, 'Homework: Japan' exhibition features artworks by second year illustration students from Osaka Designers' College (ODC), where Takeshi Ishikawa, the curating lecturer provides a platform for the students to express and portray their cultural identities on Japan to the Malaysian audience. Since its founding in 1962, the Osaka Designers' College has nurtured artists and designers in the field of illustration, comics, CG/game, graphic design, fashion design and etc. over a span of 50 years.

Since a friendly visit to Malaysia via the support from Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) initiated by ODC, ‘Homework: Japan’ marks the first exchange project between Osaka Designers’ College and Dasein Academy as part of the initiatives to explore cross-cultural possibilities in art & creativity. The intention of the visual dialogue includes exploring creative networks, creating opportunities for academic exchange programs, & sharing the knowledge in creative market from a regional stand point.

The exhibition will not only showcase the artworks of Japanese culture as a result of its eccentric training in commercial arts, but also featuring works by Dasein Creative Department as a display collaboration. Join us at Dasein Academy Gallery for the opening of 'HOMEWORK: JAPAN' on June 7, 2016. The exhibition will be on display until June 19, 2016. Admission is free where gallery opening hours are 8am - 5pm on weekdays; 8am - 1pm on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays.
