How come Dell no longer offers more than 1.66Ghz for their Inspiron 9400?
DVD player audio problem

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. Please bear with me as I'm not a tech expert but I heard you guys are the best.

I have an Akira DVD player, model no. DVD-2202. My previous amplifier blew up and now I have a cheapskate one. My problem is that sound doesn't come up right. For example, certain background sounds in Star Wars Episode III DVD are inaudible even to point that Anakin's lightsaber sometimes lights up quietly. Now I'm not expecting high quality surround sound, I just want all the sounds correct so I can get a decent watching from my DVDs.

If I turn off the amplifier and just use my television, the characters' voices are very distant, very echoed and very soft to the point of being nearly mute. My friend mentioned something about my DVD player being 6-channel and my amplifier being 4-channel but I don't understand. I don't mind just using simple TV audio if the sounds are correct.

I greatly appreciate your help and thanks in advance.
