Network Connection unable to obtain IP

My brother's PC suddenly experienced this.Last night the connection was working alright until he installed BitComet.I've no idea whether the cause is by BitComet or not.But whenever I checked the settings for the connection,it showed no IP was given to it despite already assigning one for it.Other PCs on the same network didn't have this problem though.

Any help given is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Warranty with HD

My HD failed on me about 2 days ago,the warranty for it is 1 year, starting from 8/6/2006,yesterday I went to return the HD for replacement(purchased from Sri Computers),instead I was told that it'll be sent for repairs. From what I found out from other vendors later, they said that any non-user caused faulty HD under warranty should be exchanged and not repaired.

So the question:should my HD be repaired according to company regulations?Or it should be replaced without any cost?

Help on Entering (Bugged up) WinXP

I bought a game CD...............(so what?)

I bought a game CD which has the image file and a Daemon Tools CD emulator and Alcohol 120% burned into it.(No Anti piracy lessons please)

Here's the problem:
On my WinME here,I installed the whole thing and used the emulation pack as instructed, but later removed it due to the language problem(it's in Chinese/Japanese).However,upon restarting,it'll hang whenever it tries to enter Windows.I fixed it by entering Safe Mode(which had problems entering too) and using System Restore.
On my WinXP however,I did the same thing till the restart part. However, that's where I can't enter windows(including Safe Mode).I've tried to reinstall it,but to no success.I am not going to reformat my HD as it's too valueable to reformat it.
Here's something I noticed though:Upon running that so-called emulator patch. It creates a virtual CD drive or something, and I think whenever the PC restarts,it doesn't exactly find it and stalls there.(It's just an assumption which I created)
So the question:How to enter WinXP so I can use system restore(if needed) and fix it up?Reformats are a definite no.

Thanks for the help!

HDD Reducing PC Performance

Recently I added a 40GB harddisk to my P3 WinME PC.That drive used to work in an XP environment, but now I had to downgrade it by removing the NTFS file format in it,which I forgotten how to do it... anyway,I remember using FDISK to clear off any file partition, and remade a Primary DOS Partition.Later I reformatted it,making the harddisk useable, but as I checked with the System Performance via the properties selection of My Computer, there was a message noting that the Harddisk is running on a BASIC DOS driver, and will reduce overall system performance.(The "reduced system performance" is very visable too)But after a few restarts,it didn't show the error message anymore, but system performances remains sluggish. So now I get a sluggish 69% system resources left instead of an expected 89%.

So the main thing is,where did I went wrong?and how to solve it?

For any of you needing specifications for my PC,here's what you need:
Processor:Pentium 3 555Mhz
RAM:2 128MB SDRAM (mixture of different brands)
Hard Disk: 1 Maxtor 20GB
1 Maxtor 40GB
File System:FAT32
MainBoard:Unknown,brand not specified
And the rest is most proabably irrelevant......

P/S:I don't intend to upgrade this PC to an XP.

Thanks for the great help!
