Service Pack 1 Update for desktop

Hi all sifus, been following some threads now and recently I just bought a new custom rig.. So what I want to ask is it normal for the pc to keep restarting when updating to service pack 1. I will list down the step. Err..

1st- i auto downloaded the windows update.
2nd - when it's completed it is require to restart to complete the update.
3rd - i clicked on Restart now.
4th - then on the screen after clicking that, like the usual update.. ' Assembling Service Pack '
5th - Stage 1 of 4 appears.
6th - I think when it reaches stage 2, the pc keeps rebooting after stage 3 , then reboot then stage 4 then reboot.
7th - Finishes.

So is that the normal procedure ? =x I'm noob with IT so I would like to consult all the sifus here. Hopefully nothing is fishy there as the rig is purchased from a friend of mine from KL .
