Reminder when buying DiGi VVIP numbers

Hey guys, be reminded that when buying DiGi VVIP numbers, you may have bought a recycled number!

So this happened to myself, I spent a large sum of money to buy a DiGi VVIP number last 2 weeks ago, and the day after I activated my simpack, I got a call from a debt collecting company. (Yes. I know, unlucky me)

They tried calling me a few times and sent some messages to me, I sent a message to them once stating that I just bought the simpack and I am not the one they were looking for... They stopped calling me for few days and today, I received a message again, looking for someone named YEE XXX XXXX asking to make payment owing to UOB.

So fed up I was, I called back to them to tell them that I am not the one they were looking for. Luckily, they were kind enough to tell me that they will update their system and no more messages will be sent to my new number, else I would have gone mad like someone just released from some psychotic hospital.

Makes me wonder, why does this happen? So I called DiGi to ask whether my number is a recycled number or a new number. Turns out to be, as expected, it really is a recycled number.

I told them my story about the debt collecting company calling, but they seem to be not surprised at all, my guess was this case must have happened for a number of times already or they have been trained or told that these kind of cases would happen once they put the recycled numbers on sale in the market.

How can this kind of thing happen? Plus, the service representative told me there are no more new numbers in the market anymore. All the numbers are recycled now. (I assume they are talking about the original 016, since she didn't give me a clear answer)

But you recycle your number also wait for a period of 2 years at least la IMO.. But in the end, that service representative told me that they would resell the numbers back to the market just after 6 months of account deactivation.

Come on man, 6 months. That's totally unacceptable! People will still remember your number in this short period of time.. Unless the owner is kind enough to tell everybody that he has changed the number, else the problem will go to the new owner.

Besides the debt collecting company, I did receive a few calls from other strangers as well looking for the previous number owner. I don't know what can I do now, after spending so much money on this number and all it gives is problems to me.

So guys, just becareful when buying VVIP numbers. Don't need to spend so much money on VVIP numbers anymore these days. You might just get into the same trouble as I did.

BTW do you guys think I have a case here to sue DiGi for selling me a used number aka recycled number according to their books. I have spent so much money looking for a good number and all I get is harassment from strangers and debt collecting companies. I think I can act in When Strangers Call sequel. Zzzzz.

That's all folks. Next time think again when you buying new VVIP numbers. Trust me, you DO NOT want to spend so much money on a recycled number.
