Acura NSX concept on its way for NAIAS

The covered car from Acura booth, that has been said it would be the next NSX.Albeit in concept,it would show the direction of the next Honda supercar in term of design & styling.Few more hours before unwrapping begin,oh my god I was in a heartbeat!

Thnx from Meeyatch/Mitch from NSXCA for the picture!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Hopefully it has slight tweak on those ugly "Bird beak/energy grill" design that hampered the new Acura line up lately.

Timeless as the first one?hmmm, let see if the japanese without the assist of Ken Okuyama(first gen NSX chief styling,Lead styling in Pininfarinna studio from the 80's-to early 2000.His last design was Enzo Ferrari)

[addedon]January 10, 2012, 3:03 am[/addedon]After 5 hours inside the press room....thanks Mitch for all the sacrifice!

More side shot....unveiling time at 2.35PM US time(Detroit,North America)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So still some time to see the new concept in flesh...but the profile is really like MP4-12C & R8 combined....

[addedon]January 10, 2012, 4:11 am[/addedon]UNVEILLEDDD!!!!

No traits or roots from the original production NSX but overall it was nice design all around except I love to see the longer rear end like the original one.

Overall, abit dissapointed...but still very love to see this going for production. Then only we can judge how it can going side by side from its old sibling...

Toyota FT-86/Scion FR-S

On 20 May 2011, CAR was allowed behind the wheel of a Toyota FT-86 development mule to get our own driving impressions and to give feedback to Toyota’s engineers during a secretive test session in Germany. Now, as the car is about to be unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo motor show, it’s time to reveal all.

Where does the Toyota FT-86 name come from?

‘FT’ means Future Toyota, and is a label given to Toyota concept cars. The ‘86’ plays on the Toyota Corolla GT Coupe, the 1.6-litre DOHC, rear-wheel drive coupe that enthusiasts refer to by its AE86 chassis-code. The implication, then, is that the FT-86 is a 21st century AE86.

The FT-86 tag will be dropped for production. At the time of our drive, there was still a great deal of debate as to what the car would be called. The engineers were very keen on the AE86 link, while the marketeers thought that very few people would know what that symbolised – they preferred Celica. It is, however, likely that an 86 suffix will appear in some markets.

What's the specification of the new Toyota FT-86?

The key info here is that Toyota is developing the FT-86 in tandem with Subaru, who will also sell the car, in much the same way that Citroen, Toyota and Peugeot sell the C3/Aygo/107. So, this explains why the FT-86 uses a Subaru 2.0-litre flat-four engine that produces around 200bhp and 170lb ft. Unlike pretty much everyone else these days, Toyota has shunned turbocharging, but the engine does benefit from Toyota’s D4S direct injection, which helps towards a C02 figure of around 160g/km – a similarly powerful Renaultsport Clio manages 190g/km.

The engine is mounted up front, but low and relatively far back in the engine bay. It’s mated to a close-ratio Aisin gearbox (as used by Toyota elsewhere), while a Torsen rear differential sits between the driven rear wheels. The overall weight distribution is 53/47% front to rear, while the production car will weight around 1200kg.

The platform is newly developed, and I managed to put eight of my size 11 footsteps between the front and rear wheelhubs, giving a wheelbase of around 2400mm – similar dimensions to a Mini hatchback.

Elsewhere, there’s MacPherson strut front suspension, and a double wishbone rear-end. Mitsubishi supplies the springs, while test cars ran both Sachs and Showa shock absorbers – we tested the Sachs set-up.

What's the FT-86 like inside?

You sit low down – lower than a Porsche Cayman, claim the engineers – and squish into a comfortable seat with leather bolsters and grippy suede centres. The driving position is excellent. The FT-86 is strictly a 2+2: there was no room whatsoever for my legs in the back with a six-feet-tall driver in the front.

The rest of the interior was still heavily camouflaged but we did see aluminum finishes on the rotary climate control dials, plus a row of aluminium-topped switches. Toyota’s ‘keyless go’ is standard, but we couldn't see the zip-up dashboard cover like on the concept car, forum watchers take note!

What's the 2012 Toyota FT-86 like to drive?

It’s great fun. There’s fantastic throttle response, quick, well weighted steering and a nice firm brake pedal. Add little inputs to the steering when you’re driving in a straight line at speed and the front end darts immediately – no slop, no roll, it’s just 100% obedient and alert.

Clearly, it’s not a GT-R chaser, but that’s the whole point – the focus here is on dynamics you can explore at lower speeds. The flat-four zings happily and spins round the dial to 7500rpm, at which point you get a flashing light and a well-judged soft rev limiter – not a sudden cut-out. Doesn’t sound much like a flat-four though – perhaps this is intentional, as the flat-four sound is such a Subaru trademark.

The gear ratios are closely stacked, and help to keep this modestly powered 2.0-litre spinning, but the ratios are well chosen so as not to be tiresome: 60mph in sixth gear brings up 2500rpm – relatively high, yes, but not daft. The gearshift could be slicker, but the lever has an engagingly short throw.

Even without sliding it around, the FT-86 is very obviously rear-wheel drive: get to the limit in a second-gear corner and accelerate harder and you feel the back end point the front back exactly where you want it. It responds well to a really aggressive driving style. Shame that the stability controls’ Sport setting was too intrusive, although Toyota’s engineers said they had a less intrusive set-up that they were also experimenting with.

It must be a blast to slide around…

Drifting is a huge part of the appeal of the FT-86, just as it continues to be for the AE86. Our car was fitted with 215/45 R17 Michelin Green X tyres all round – aka Toyota Prius tyres. This made it laughably sideways in second gear, the back end stepping out with relatively mild – and sometimes almost no – provocation. For the average driver, this makes exploring the limits far easier than in anything else currently on sale.

However, at higher speeds I found the balance less pleasing. In fast third-gear turns, for instance, the front end feels too soft and errs towards understeer – it could be pointier, firmer and more positive. Under provocation, the rear then comes around, but the FT-86 is so short that this transition can be very quick. Two factors then come into play: the first is the Torsen diff, which is more refined in day-to-day driving, but less precise than a mechanical differential when the rear tyres are struggling for purchase, so the level of control you have over the sliding rear end is compromised; the second point is the lack of power: adding power during slides helps you to bring things back under control, but in a high-speed FT-86 you’re more in the hands of momentum than you are able to dictate things with the throttle.

So the FT-86's a hooligan oversteer specialist?

At one point I found myself snapping into very fast oversteer, then suddenly snapping back and making an out-of-control excursion across the run-off area. My mistake, yes, but I’ve never had this feeling in any other modern rear-wheel drive car, 911 GT3 included.

Is there going to be an FT-86 with more power and a mechanical differential?

Turbocharging the flat-four would be straightforward (after all, that’s what Subaru does with the Impreza), but chief engineer Tetsuya Tada told us that he ‘doesn’t like turbos’ and has ‘decided to reject the numeric power war’. He also said that an R version of the FT-86 was coming with less weight, Brembo brakes (our test car’s stoppers were from Hitachi), a rollcage, a larger rear wing, no rear seats and, yes, a mechanical LSD but no more power.

And bear in mind that Toyota had invited us for our input and that this was a fairly early car – things will be tweaked for production. Our cars were still disguised, although pictures of the FT-86 production car have leaked out in recent days.

Other options are also on the cards: a convertible is ‘possible’, while an auto gearbox is confirmed – it’s a six-speed unit based on the eight-speeder in the high-performance Lexus ISF.

Verdict

The Toyota FT-86 is great news for enthusiasts: it’s affordable, frugal and relatively practical. You also don’t have to be a driving deity to explore its limits. If anything, we’d adjust the high-speed, on-limit balance (firmer front end, more progressive transition into oversteer, tighter differential), but that doesn’t undo the underlying fact that this is a great car, and one that trounces its closest rival, the Mazda MX-5, in the fun stakes.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2062
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2063

To be compared to and say that it trounces a Miata is looking pretty good for this car. Just hope it's not underpowered

Ferrari Enzo found abandon in Dubai

Dont know if this is a repost....but anyway just pity those exotic laid down in the heat & dust like that....

Here’s an unfortunate find. Remember the destruction of Saddam Hussein’s epic car collection, many of which included the destruction of a Porsche 993 Turbo S, an extremely rare Lamborghini LM002 SUV and supposedly a Mercedes-Benz 500K worth more than millions? Well this one is a little something like that.
A journalist stumbled upon a Ferrari Enzo rotting away in the desert of Dubai. Supposedly, the reason as to why cars like these end up sitting in the dust are from entrepreneurs who returned home after their business or real estate ventures failed.
It was said to have been found in a police impound, which means that the car will most likely be auctioned off and sent to a new owner who could fix it up. But they’d better have some deep pockets and lots of cash to spend because the Enzo is sitting in a part of the world where exterior temperatures often exceed 115 degrees F.

Only 399 Enzos have been officially sold to the public. With already a considerable amount of them dead from careless actions of their owners, the Ferrari Enzo could slowly be disappearing off of the face of the Earth.

DAMN!

Two-wheeled legends: HONDA

1982 Honda CX500 Turbo

Production: 1982
Engine: 497cc four-stroke turbocharged transverse twin
BHP: 82
Price: I’m sure owners would pay you to take the bike off their hands

Why is it important?: I’m sure you could guess why it’s important. It was the first production turbocharged motorcycle. Everything in the 80’s was turbocharged: hair gel, shoes, laptops. But turbocharged bikes didn’t exist. Naturally, Honda was first to apply this turbocharged craze to their motorcycles. Of course, in typical Honda fashion, the motorcycle was complicated and didn’t really function any better than a standard motorcycle. What was odd about it was the fact that Honda choose their workhorse, the CX500, for the turbocharging upgrade. The horsepower gain was impressive, but it wasn’t much to sneeze at. 82hp on a performance bike in 1982 was pretty wimpy, and the fact that it had turbo lag didn’t help. Once again, Honda had failed. The bike was too complicated and too slow for the general riding public. Nice try, though.

The CX500-T also was started the trend of forced-induction sportbike that was popular by tuner for today,& inspired the others major player by suzuki, kawasaki & yamaha to make their own public, road legal turbo sportbike for sale(Suzuki XN85 Turbo,Yamaha Diversion SecaX,Kawasaki GP750R & GPZ900R)

1988 Honda RC30 and 1993 Honda RC45

Production: 1987-1999
Engine: 748cc four-stroke V-4
BHP: (RC30) 112
(RC45) 120
Price: Both are around $20,000 to $35,000

Why are they important?: Like the CB1100R before them, the RC30 and RC45 were created to dominate production class racing. The RC30 was designed to be a limited production road bike that was basically a race bike with headlamps. It cost twice as much as similarly powerful road going 750’s due to the fact that it had all the best components, such as CF bits all around, lightened exhaust system with titanium which is rare on its day & in house made, forged alloy wheel. The RC45 was the same deal. Both the RC30 and RC45 dominated production bike racing in the late 80’s and early 90’s. They’re also really freaking cool.

1992 Honda NR750

Production: 1992
Engine: 748cc four-stroke V-4
BHP: 125
Price: $60,000-$80,000

Why is it important?: This is the most outrageous and amazing road bike ever built. After the death of Soichiro Honda in the 1991,& a year after uber-cool looking exotic NSX was debut for public, how about a tribute for what Soichiro Honda love the most? The answer was NR750 ,& it was and still is unlike any road motorcycle, and the price then and now shows. The engine was a resurrection of the failed NR500 technology. The NR750 had four oval pistons with 32 valves producing about 125hp. Honda actually restricted the horsepower from 160 because they didn’t want it competing with the Fireblade. This was an amazing feat considering modern 1000cc sportbikes are barely edging 160hp. The bodywork is all carbon fiber and Kevlar, and even the key is made from a mixture of Kevlar, carbon fiber and titanium. The styling was way ahead of it’s time, and it’s been said that the famous 916’s styling was based off the NR750. In the end, the NR750 didn’t sell due to the extremely high price and complexity. However, Honda never intended the NR750 to be their big seller. They made it to prove to the world, once and for all, that Honda will forever be the king of road bike technology.
,
It features some of the technology that still considered to be exotic all-around although some of them are become a common thing for standard out of factory spec motorcycle, mainly magnesium subframes, titanium exhaust system with exhaust controlled valve, titanium conrod, cam, valve, valve springs & piston, billet titanium crankshaft, aluminium block with magnesium header & starter for such.(which can be find at all 2004-present sportsbike genre from big 4's of Japan)

But still some of the thing that make the bike was a legend was:

-Carbon fibre with aramid & kevlar moulded with light alumium for monocoque frame.
-Digital all around panel instrument.
-Dymag light alloy,forged performances wheel.
-Carbon kevlar+titanium bonded oval piston with molydenum coated sleeve.
-Honda PGM-FI with card reader(with each coloured card such as blue, yellow & green to get a specific power output & engine mapping, via slotted jack beneath the one piece CF moulded single piece bodywork)

This is sample from NSR250SE PGM,that using the same trick as the NR,which is using a power card to get even more power output(blue, yellow & green with HRC custom made, reprogrammed power card to get the most out of the 249cc Vtwin stroker)

---That is how the humble, less educated man with big dream has made the motorcycle as the better machine as we all see today. It changed the perception of biker,& creating many technological tour de force that made its way throughout his car voyager.
The soul & spirit of creating the best motorcycle to beat the rival out there is finally made its way to Honda finest, dubbed as first japanese supercar, the NSX.

It was a sad but true, after Mr Honda has passed away, the company motivation & passion for automation simply going too far away from what he first has thought & the new line up since 2001 is utterly disappointing.
So I hope Honda with the new management under Takeo Fukui is dare to follow the founder heritage & ambition to become a leader again in both car & motorcycle world with innovation & good overall design to match the criteria.

Paris Hilton Joins 125GP

PARIS HILTON GETTING ON TO 125GP NEXT SESSION

According to the folks at Motocuatro, socialite Paris Hilton will be picking up where Antonio Banderas left off, and is set to unveil her 125GP team next Saturday. Officially Team SuperMartxé VIP by Paris Hilton, the unveiling of the team is to be held at the Hotel ME in Madrid, Spain. It’s not clear at this time where Hilton’s interest in motorcycle racing stems from (perhaps she is taking a page from, and one-upping, Kim Kardashian’s sponsorship of a NASCAR Sprint Cup team), but the Hilton fortune heiress has put together a very strong team, making her entry into the 125 GP very compelling.

My guess she's taking lessons from Hugh Hefner's support of MotoGP.
Makes me wonder just how much main stream did motorcycle racing become.

So.....if she really serious or not?
You know laa....Paris Hilton....

Two Dead in Superleggera Crash

Wuppertal, Germany - A 38-year old man believed to be an Italian employee and test driver of Lamborghini lost control of a demonstration car in Germany Thursday and was killed along with a female passenger. Eyewitnesses said he gave the enormously powerful Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera far too much throttle. It skidded against a carriageway divider, flew through the air, hit a lamppost and burst into flames. The yellow demonstrator car was being shown off at a dealership in Wuppertal, Germany. The passenger, 28, came from a nearby town. She died on the way to the hospital.

Showing off his skill to impress cute chick in the passenger seat while in the rain??

From german newspaper:

"A Lamborghini Gallardo demonstration run ended in tragedy on Thursday when both the driver and passenger died after careering off the road and hitting a lamppost.

The accident happened as an Italian employee took a woman (28) on a demonstration from outside Wupperal, Germany.

Eyewitnesses report the Gallardo was operating at generous throttle openings when it suddenly snapped into oversteer and skidded against a carriageway divider before taking to the air and colliding with a lamppost.

As the yellow Gallardo impacted the lamppost it ignited. Both the driver and his female passenger (who was from a nearby town) were declared dead as emergency services secured the scene.

Last week a man was killed when a test driver hit him whilst conducting high speed trials in the early hours of the morning with a Mercedes-Benz M-Class prototype on the Autobahn A81 near Rottweil.

These latest accidents have yet again brought Germany’s shrinking amount of unrestricted Autobahn under increased scrutiny from political parties who wish to see the country’s entire road network administered by uniform speed enforcement."

---The end of iconic Autobahn?

Foggy-Petronas FP1 road bikes found in Essex

Hoard of Foggy-Petronas FP1 road bikes found in Essex

MCN has discovered a secret hoard of 60 £25,000 Foggy-Petronas FP1 road bikes in a bunker in Essex.

Carl Fogarty – race team manager and figurehead of the ill-fated FP1 project – said when told the news: “You’re joking – that’s amazing!” It had been thought – and stated by the team – that the bikes were shipped to Malaysia five years ago and disposed of. But in fact virtually all the bikes initially produced to homologated the FP1 for WSB racing are still on UK soil.

The collection – worth around £2m – is held in a state of suspended animation awaiting, with the bikes’ owner – Malaysian oil giant Petronas – keen to draw a veil over the whole episode. The firm burned £30m on a WSB program that was intended to kick-start a Ducati-sized bike manufacturing business in Malaysia, but in fact petered out with a 21st place championship finish in 2006.

The bikes were manufactured for Petronas by engineering firm MSX International in Basildon in Essex in record time in 2002, around engines designed by Austrian firm Suter Racing. The idea was that the production process would then be replicated in Malaysia and form the start of a range of higher and lower-spec bikes running to ten thousand and more. 75 road bikes were built in Essex, followed by another 75 in Malaysia six months later, where this famous homologation shot was taken (left).
Though the business that produced this first batch has since changed hands the bikes are still there, now in possession of engineering firm Arrk R&D, which also retains key MSXI staff who worked on the FP1. Tony White is one of them: “They were perfect” is all he will say about the bikes, the existence of which Petronas gagging orders prevent him from acknowledging.

As chief executive of Foggy Petronas Racing, Murray Treece was the go-between for Petronas and the UK engineers who developed the road bike. He says: “Our staff developed the race bike and then were involved in transferring the design and supplier information over to the road bike team. Exactly what happened after that to the road bikes is unknown (by me at least).”

It was a transition in which the FP1 lost virtually none of its clean racing looks, but a fair chunk of its power – down to 127bhp from 185bhp. Even so, at 181kg it should still have been a competitive road bike – though it was never released for road test. Eight years later only the non-radial brakes date the stark, stylish lines of the turquoise triples.

Foggy said at the time: “There is no doubt that this will be the most beautiful bike on the roads. It combines cutting edge technology with real elegance and has set new standards at the top end of the road bike market”. Treece echoes: “It was a beautiful looking and sounding machine. I wish I owned one”.

Treece believes Petronas underestimated the challenge in bringing a bike to market in such a short time with no infrastructure.

For those still remember our malaysian own super sports, exotic bike....in fact it design was so stunning & beautifully crafted exotic homoglation, that after a year after it debut in 2003,it still look fresh & gorgeous, only to be bow down by its lackluster engine displacement to match japanese fleet.(181 kg with additional Micron ECU & exhaust system would jumped the power up to 185+ hp from modest road going version of 127+ hp)

Damnnnn.....even local product also more expensive than japanese & italian import, how the bike industry in malaysia can go further?
& please Petronas, sell it under 60K-80K so many can support local product & have our money back!

Ferrari P4/5 Competizione version in the works?

Remember Jim Glickenhaus' Ferrari P4/5? Unveiled at Pebble Beach back in 2006, the re-bodied Enzo was designed by Pininfarina to mimic the classic lines of the legendary 1967 Ferrari P4 racecar. With just a single example built, the P4/5 is truly a one-off design. Or so we thought. According to Glickenhaus' statements on the FerrariChat.com forum, he is undergoing preparations to construct a race version that would make its competition debut at the 2010 Nürburgring 24 hour race from May 13-16. Currently the plan is merely just that - a plan - and Glickenhaus admits that much has to be done before his vision becomes a reality. "There are a LOT of stars that would have to align for this to happen but it's not impossible," he stated.

The P4/5 Competizione, as it is being called, would be based on an entirely new car and would not be a conversion of the P4/5 road car. Glickenhaus hasn't given specifics about exactly which car would be used as the platform, but he did hint that it will "have a Ferrari chassis/vin#/engine and gearbox." The renderings you see here are merely Photoshopped versions of the road car, but an updated sketch and additional specifications should be coming in the next few weeks.

According to Glickenhaus, the leading factor preventing the proposal from coming to fruition is finding a major sponsor. Our guess is that time might become an issue as well, as eight months is a relatively short time to develop, build, and test a competitive racecar. Still, we wish Glickenhaus the best of luck, and hope to see another one of his dream cars on track in the near future.

----

I always admire old Ferrari like P3,Coda Lunga 512S,& GTO.....Glickenhaus & Pininfarina did a good job f recreating the legendary tribute in modern way.....even got N.A.R.T!(North American Racing Team) logo!

So when we gonna see Scuderia Fillipetni & the other from 60's & 70's...

---The creator of the photoshopped version of the car was van den Brick, the one that recreated the modern GTO concept on Photoshop & did impressed the Ferrari manager & Pininfarina...so lucky to be that guy....

At the introductory race to the Superbike World Championship in Phillip Island, Australia, two BMW motorcycles will be in the starting line-up for the first time. After recent tests in Portimao and Valencia, riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus are optimistic about the future and the mood in the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team is positive. The racing bikes will be fairly close to serial production models, allowing for the greater audience identification characteristic of the sport. Behind the scenes meanwhile, production of the serial machine is getting underway: the BMW S 1000 RR.

The package of this completely newly developed motorcycle with its 999cc in-line 4-cylinder engine is very compact and light. The dry weight of the motorcycle is 183 kg.

Both its supreme performance figures and its outstanding riding properties make the BMW S 1000 RR an extremely attractive offer in the supersports segment.

This shot gives a close look at the chassis and frame of BMWs superbike.

The engine has a very compact cylinder head and is narrow in shape. The valves are activated by means of very small, light cam followers, virtually at Formula 1 level in terms of their dimensions. This construction ensures very high engine speeds and allows maximum freedom in engine design in terms of torque and output.

For the supersports bike BMW S 1000 RR, a completely newly developed sports ABS featuring four different modes as well as the dynamic traction control system DTC will be available. The functional principle of the traction control system has been borrowed directly from racing.
2009 BMW S 1000 RR.

The distinctive design of the S 1000 RR reflects the general style of the segment but also clearly represents the brand BMW. The new S 1000 RR will be available in the four finishes Mineral Silver metallic, Acid Green metallic, Thunder Grey metallic and - based on the BMW Motorrad racing colours - Alpine White/Lupine Blue/Magma Red.

The serial production machine BMW S 1000 RR will be presented to the public in the early summer of 2009 but can already be ordered in dealerships.

Bikes are ready to roll out to dealerships in the next few months.

Hope Auto Bavaria bring this to their showroom.....have seen the HP2 sports & it look great!

Dunno if it repost or not,but found somewhere on the net.....quite funny BTW....

Beginilah akibatnya orang Malaysia menterjemahkan istilah-istilah Komputer.

Istilah:
Hardware: barang keras
Software : barang lembut
Joystick : batang bahagia
Plug and Play : cucuk dan main
Port : lubang
Server : pelayan
Client : pelanggan

Contoh:
"That server gives a plug and play service to the clients using either hardware or software joystick. The joystick goes into the port of the client."

Translated:
"Pelayan itu memberi pelanggannya layanan cucuk dan main dengan mempergunakan batang bahagia jenis keras atau lembut. Batang bahagia
itu dimasukkan ke dalam lubang pelanggan."

BTW,sorry if it was repost....

New record for modified turbo streetbike

Quite old already...but just to let you know....

Top 10 Flyers(Official Results for Elvington Wheelie & Top Speed Event 9-11th July 2006)

Frank (Flying Dutchman) Gillebaard 265.4(424.64km/h)
Jack Frost 257.3
Andy Head 240.8
Shaun Mills 233.6
Richard Albans 213.1
Mick Templeman 212.2
Tony Foster 211.8
Will Williams 206.6
Clive Seddon 203.5
Gerard Tinsdale 195.2

Average Two-Way Flyers

Frank Gillebaar 247.30
Jack Frost 242.65
Andy Head 214.6
Will Williams 204.85
Clive Seddon 189.7
Patrick (Ghostrider) 186
Eifion Williams 175.6
Tony Foster 171.2
Kenn Dunn 170.85
Alan Tinnion 169.9
Emma Brigginshaw 151.6

Top Ten Wheelie Entrant Flyers

Patrick (Ghostrider) - Flying Wheelie 215.20
Nick McMahon 203.9
Matt Pomeroy 202.4
Bob Collins 187.4
Dave Smith 187.4
Paul O'Brian 185.2
Marc Ratcliffe 184.3
James Woodhams 183.7
Dave Fowle 183
Phil Cullen 182.1

Frank 'The Flying Dutchman' Gillebaard has set a new top speed world record for modified streetbikes. During the event in the UK, in Elvington (on a disused airport…) Gillebaard hits speeds of 424.64km/h on his turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa. Reports say that he did this on street tyres, though we wonder which street tyres are capable of speeds in excess of 400km/h!

In second place was Jack Frost, who ran his turbo ’Busa at 411.68km/h, and in third was Andy Head, who hit 385.28km/h on his turbo Kawasaki ZX-12R. It just gets Faster and Faster…

----The rider is surely got to be one of most craziest riders ever(even more than pro drag bike racing)to topped out the speed like this, just like Group C Le mans
racecars....

----the record is still stand,so for those that realy got titanium ball, can try to break his record....even the fastest Ghostrider also cant match his speed....

----there is no way a highly modified street sportscars, either japanese or continental can achieve this kind of speed with relatively "small" displacement,& without any "big" modification like this bike did.....

power-to-weight ratio rulezz!!!but only in the hand of man with brass ball....

80's of Automotive year

If there was a great era for any automotive greatest heyday,it would be the 80's.....All of the thing is worked like never before, regardless if it was single seater,Sportscar
racing,Powerboat,& 2-wheeler.
The 80's also known to many as "Saturday Night Light","Miami Vice","The innovation" & for automotives fans, the thing like Motronic,Kugelfish,EFI,PGM-FI,Hydropeneumatic suspension,& of course turbo is something that really empowering the industries & seems to be the starting point for more efficient, cleaner emission car, that also lead to what known to the speculators as "Supercar Boom".

Most talked, reviewed,& much hyped during the 80's was this two car:Porsche 959 & Ferrari F40,which is revered as part of the 80's supercars glamourous day.

Supercars Boom

"Supercars Boom" is one of the reasons that speculators at that times really see & one of the reason of economic downfall in early 1990's.This due to the fact, that many people rather spending a large sums of money as they think the supercars is more to investment rather than "playboy look".The manufacturers, from Italian exotic like Ferrari, & Lamborghini poured a million of $$,just to became a part of international, elites society that want to have a fast, yet sexy looking car, that will fetch them about a million for trade-off.

Ferrari 288 GTO(Homoglation Special supercar)which is turned up,with it much modified successor,the F40.

Golden Era Of Sportscars Racing

Due to the fierce manufacturers championships during the 80's in FIA,SCCA,IMSA,ACO sportscars racing with world championships round, some of biggest car manufacturers begin to make a special road going version of they race car in order to homoglated it to world racing. Some of the example are,Porsche 959,Ferrari 288 GTO,Lancia 037,Lancia Delta,&

Delta 037 & S4 by Lancia in road going trim, specially made to pass the FIA homoglation of Group B world rally Championships.

While the tobacco & wain ruled the sponsorship & advertisements spot during the 80's,especially in Formula One,World Sportscar Championships,& FIA World Rally Championships, but no one can denied how much impact their made during the series was held.
Not only it fielded most of billboard around the track & the car,but it also important how they sponsorship & financial helps is worth every time the car is passing toward spectators & win the races.

Marlboro,Silk Cut,John Player Special & Rothmans International perhaps is among the most successful tobbacco in sports advertisement ever, garnering many victories under their sponsorships especially Rothmans sponsored work teams like Porsche,Honda(HRC)& Williams F1.

Dunno if this was a repost....but:

Kereta ?solek? bakal dirampas
Oleh Nazarali Saeril
nazarali@hmetro.com.my

Ferrari Concept bike

Some of rarest, exotic bikes from all over the world....

1986' Lamborghini Design 90-"Lambo Bike" or Lamborghini Motorbike.

An extremely rare Lamborghini Motorbike designed in collaboration between Lamborghini and the French leading-edge racing bike constructor Boxer-Bike.

Boxer Bike has been famous since the seventies for their racing and sophisticated motorbikes, hand-built with extensive use of aerospace-technology, ultra lightweight frames and offering the highest performance on two wheels. In 1986, when Lamborghini decided that a motorbike would bear their name, Boxer was chosen as the only partner capable of building the most desirable motorbike of the period : the Lamborghini Design 90, powered by a state-of-the-art, 4-cam, 4 valve per cylinder straight-4 engine.

The price asked when this machine was presented was twice as high as the one of a famous high-end motorbike of the period. This price factor, in addition to the availability in extremely limited series contributed to establish the myth of the Lamborghini bike. As specialists know, the Chief Engineer for this bike was Claude Fior, famous for his unique high-tech racing bikes, and that unfortunately died too young a few years ago.

With over 120 HP, less than 180 kg, a radical and voluptuous style, this bike was only a dream for millions of Lamborghini and motorbike enthusiasts.
The complete fiberglass dramatically aerodynamic bodywork, sharing the same inspiration as the world-famous "25th Anniversary" Countach. The removable rear seat cover allow taking a passenger for an occasional ride... All in all, including partly "Lamborghinised" Boxer versions, around twenty Lamborghini-Boxer motorcycles were built.

1994' Honda NR750-Honda "New Racing"(NR)750

The NR750 was Honda's opportunity to show what they can do, but its beautiful engineering was lost on the public. The engine technology, the complex exhaust routing, and touches like carbon fibre composite bodywork and a titanium-tinted screen were not what most observers thought of as the way forward. It was quite heavy, and definitely not intended as a race machine. And of course the ludicrous price (£38,000 in the UK, ¥5,000,000 in Japan) was enough to ensure it remained a curiousity.

Some features, such as the side-mounted radiators and aspects of the styling eventually into Honda's more modest road models, but the enormous expense of developing an oval-pistoned v-four motorcycle means such a design is unlikely to be sold at realistic prices. The conventional v-four engine is already complex and expensive to produce.

The PGM-FI fuel injection was state of the art in 1992, and used 7 sensors and a 16-bit CPU to control the eight injectors as well as controlling ignition timing. In addition it altered the position of an inlect duct in the airbox to regulate airflow. Over 200 were assembled, at a rate of 2 or 3 a day.

Since it couldn't be homologated for World Championship racing Honda decided the NR750 could be used to attempt some records. A lightened, tuned NR, making 150bhp @ 15,500rpm and weighinhg just 180kg was produced (compared to the standard bikes' 222kg). Diminutive GP rider Loris Capirossi set new flying mile, flying kilometre and standing start mile & 10km records, assuring its place in the record books.

Honda had tried the oval-piston concept before. The first motorcycle named NR750 was an endurance racer which appeared at Le Mans in 1987. It failed to finish, but was very fast with a wide powerband. It weighed just 145kg and made over 150bhp - in the days when superbikes were doing well to put out 135 horses.

Honda NR750's hallmark was this,a small, rev happy to the ceiling Oval/Oblong V4 engine, that was a short form of V8,really ahead at that time & was rare even by today standard.

To achieve this aim Honda could have looked to follow their 1960's practice of increasing the number of cylinders to produce more power. However, Grand Prix rules at the time required a configuration with maximum of four combustion chambers. Honda engineers therefore came up with the highly innovative solution of constructing a 'V8' engine in the form of a four cylinder. This was achieved by designing an oval piston that allowed a total of 8 valves per cylinder, and connecting two con-rods to each piston. Such a configuration led to almost unprecedented complexity in terms of engine design, with 32 valves and eight con-rods incorporated into the dimensions of a regular four cylinder motorcycle engine.

The bike became the most expensive production bike at the time when it was selling for $50,000 and with the rarity, they nowadays rarely change hands.

Considerable computer CAD/CAM work led to a full-scale buck. Then, a driving prototype, which was scrutinized by various focus groups, and a final new design, which incorporated a different rear body treatment from the focus group's feedback, finally yielded the first and second production prototypes ("Factory Five's GTM," November '06 KC).

Almost a year has passed since we first featured the LS1- and LS7-powered GTMs. We're told that since its debut over 100 kits have been sold, many of which are probably well under construction in replicar hobbyists' garages across the land. For those projects that have hit a standstill due to a lack of time or whatever, we hope this test article will serve to stoke the fires. Wouldn't it be great to see many more of these FFR GTMs on the streets of America? We think so. When you get the lowdown on how economically these Supercars can be constructed, and how well they perform, FFR's phone lines and Web site may see a huge increase in GTM inquiries. We look forward to seeing the finished vehicles on the road and at upcoming events. Who knows-KIT CAR may decide to photograph and feature your sleek GTM Supercar. Build it as well as this one is constructed, and we might honor your efforts here someday. KC

& the honor goes to.....

At the largest automotive aftermarket show in the world, SEMA, Gary's GTM was awarded the Best Domestic trophy from Sony Playstation. Each year, five SEMA vehicles receive Sony Gran Turismo awards. The grand prizewinner will get featured in the next version of Gran Turismo, the driving/racing simulator game. Gary's wife, Tatiana Cheney, from Moldovia, which is next to Russia, graciously agreed to be the Supermodel next to their Supercar. The car's almost as photogenic as she is! :salute:

Billet aluminum 5 logos mount the rear wing. Within the billet fascia that surrounds the "200MPH" license plate, the back-up camera is installed. By the way, the license plate probably reads low.

The owner filled the dash with an Aim digital gauge cluster. Whenever Gary goes into reverse, the TV screen in the center console activates and reveals the view to the rear, made possible by a back-up camera installed in the rear valance. A Polk Audio sound system offers stereo sound, just in case you don't wish to hear the LS6 mill work its magic.

SEMA review on Gary beautifully executed GTM F5:

Of the eight Factory Five Racing cars that Gary has built over the years, this is his first GTM. A home contractor by profession in New England, his most exemplary FFR construction project to date is this GTM. That's saying something, since he has built two street roadsters (one of which was the commemorative 100th FFR kit in '96), two Type 65 Daytona Coupes, and three spec racers. Gary performs 80 to 85 percent of the construction of his FFR creations himself, but he farms out the finish bodywork and paint to World Class Collision, as well as any custom upholstery to Turner Upholstery, two local automotive artisans in the New England area. In terms of custom fabrication, Steve Knowlton, owner of Knowlton Racing Enterprises, helps Gary with some of the meticulous custom fabrication work that his FFR cars always seem to include. Mr. Knowlton actually matriculated through a private fabricating class with another custom fabricator you may be familiar with, Jesse James. Steve is adept at doing any sort of mechanical work, as well as the fancy, high-end custom fabricating Gary likes to show off in his FFR cars.
ORIGINAL KIT PRICES/PART DONOR/& EST.BUDGET FOR COMPLETION

Factory Five Racing
Phone: (508) 291 3443
Web Site: www.factoryfive.com

Vehicle
Year and type/model: 2006 FFR GTM Supercar

Pricing
Price of Kit: $19,990
Total Price as Tested: $58,162
Manufacturer Estimate of Hours to Build/Complete
Vehicle: 250

Donor
Year and type/model: (Chevy Corvette, 1998;2005 LS7 engine)

Chassis
Frame: Yes-FFR tubular steel space frame
Wheelbase: 102 in.
Rearend: No (Porsche GT3)
Rear Suspension: No(Corvette donor)
Front Suspension: No (Corvette donor)
Shocks: Yes-Koni aluminum shocks, steel springs
Rear Brakes: No (Corvette donor)
Front Brakes: No (Corvette donor)
Brake Lines: Yes
Master Cylinder: Yes-Wilwood
Brake Booster: No
Steering: Yes
Front Wheel Make & Size: No (Corvette Z06, 18x9)
Rear Wheel Make & Size: No(Corvette Z06, 18x12)
Front Tire Make & Size: No(Toyo RA1 245/35 R18)
Rear Tire Make & Size: No(Toyo RA1 245/35 R18)

Body
Paint Included: No
Paint Brand/Type: Yes-PPG (Polyurethane, Candy Apple Red, House of Kolor)
Windshield/Glass: Yes-DOT
Top: N/A
Roll Bar: N/A (chassis component)
Bumpers: N/A
Grille: N/A
Lights: Yes-DOT legal (Hella)
Mirrors: No (Corvette donor)
Emblems and Trim: Yes-FFR
Fuel System: No (Corvette donor)
Fuel Tank: No (Corvette donor)

Interior
Gauges: Yes-Auto Meter
Wiring: Yes-Painless Performance Products
Steering Wheel: Yes
Seating: Yes-Custom
Upholstery: Yes-FFR custom
Material: Yes-aluminum shell, fabric covering seats, wool carpet

Drivetrain
Engine Brand: Chevrolet
Engine Type: 427ci LS7
Water Pump: No (Corvette donor)
Radiator: No (Corvette donor)
Air Cleaner: Yes-K&N
Ignition: No (Corvette donor)
Headers: No (Corvette donor)
Exhaust System: Yes-FFR custom
Transmission Type: No (Porsche GT3)
Driveshaft: No (Corvette donor)
Shifter: Yes
Air Conditioning: Yes-Vintage Air, custom
Battery: No (Corvette donor)
Engines Brackets: Yes-FFR custom
Accessories: No

Performance
Acceleration
0-60 mph: 4.08 seconds

Braking
Minimum stopping distance
From 60 mph: 98.67 feet

Handling
Lateral acceleration: 1.00 g on race tires
Balance: Neutral
Slalom Speed (420-foot slalom): 47.6 mph on race tires

I wish I had enough times for myself to do this in my house backyard....(lovely american dream....)

If the importing the kit & time was not a problems.......I will take this as my consideration of having this kit(apart from taking Ferrari 330P/3 or Porsche 917 Kurzhekz replica)

Review from Car & Driver magazines reveal how much this supercar has value for $$ & speed if you are the one that have favor of building/modifying your car to the max!

GTM Supercar

The GTM is a V-8 powered, mid-engined car with a composite body shell and an aluminum and steel tube frame chassis. The car uses a GM Performance engine and suspension parts with four-corner coil-over shocks, large brakes and a Porsche 911 Transaxle and is foremost a high performance car. The GTM is light and aerodynamic, with excellent weight distribution and precise race-car handling/braking derived from the Chevrolet Corvette C-5. In the September 2007 issue, Car and Driver reviewed a prototype GTM LS7 and their testing achieved 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.9 seconds at 134 mph, beating their tested speeds for the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Murcielago, Ferrari Enzo and other higher priced production vehicles. The testing shows the GTM is designed to compete with the fastest accelerating cars in the world.

The car is engineered to be built as a chassis kit by a person at home. Items like A/C, power windows, and complete interior make the vehicle suitable for general use.

BTW,the frame....

A six-point rollcage and a tubular chassis protect the driver while providing support for the rest of the GTM's working parts (a skin-over-chassis concept FFR uses with the four other vehicles it offers). The rollers are 18 x 10-inch, wrapped in 245/40 and 295/35ZR18 rubber. Most of the drivetrain is derived from the Corvette C5, while the transbox is a Porsche G50 unit capable of handling the 500hp motor.

Ohhh...why here at Msia always want to backing up the proton & perodua until the hobby like this is consider forbidden for street legal....

Cheapest F40 GT ever!

...........This nice replica kit will cost you less than the real thing,& no more $$ will be dump for cost-you-a-bomb Ferrari mechanics, still have the same raw power....without so much hassle as the spare-parts is easy to get & alot cheaper than the pranching horse itself....!!

KIWI POWER F40-GT REPLICA KIT

To re-create Italian styling for this sports-race-street car, the Auckland native mocked up a shell, delicately balanced on boxes and drums, and then re-engineered new plugs to get the shut lines perfect. The chassis started as a bunch of tubes on a workshop floor but finished as a custom steel-tube space frame with steel floors and firewalls to meet New Zealand specs.

Cox has blazed down the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds, with a top speed of 131 mph, and according to the builder, "This is a fantastic supercar. It can go faster than a McLaren F1 and handles superbly. I pull 1.77 g's in the corners and 1.5 g's under brakes and can go from 0-100 mph in 6.5 seconds. I love this car and I want to share it with America."

Nice of him to share, awesome to see, and delicious to drive. Kiwi power, with Italian styling and a Japanese engine...nice combo...

Fiat taillights are a nice touch. The adjustable rear race wing is made of carbon fiber, and a standard fiberglass rear wing is also an option.

A powerful Toyota 4L engine pumps out a thunderous stampede of 800 horses. Aided by an Air Research turbocharger with a 20-pound boost and Porsche X8 injector, this 2,200-pound kit racer can exceed 200 mph.
The car is fully race prepared, has an 8,000-rpm limit, and pops out 675 lb-ft of torque at 6,800 rpm. For safety, Cox added Kings springs, AP racing brakes, and a Wilwood pedal assembly.

The bodywork was inspirated by 1994 F40 GT(LM),which was look clean nice!
Inside, a custom F40 Developments carbon fiber dash, Motec ADL gauges, MOMO steering wheel, and F40D custom carbon seats and upholstery offer the same classy appearance.

I wish I had enough times for myself to have the kit & assemble it at my own backyard.....
