Acer Aspire 4920 overheating

I had an old laptop - acer aspire 4920 with core 2 duo T7500 (2.2ghz).

I've never really checked it's core temp since ages ago but recently it keep BSOD, so I started to test everything - ram, hard disk, and cpu. Upon running prime95 for few minute (full load), my core temp goes up to 95C. Idle temp is ~55C even in aircon room.

I've cleaned the fan but it doesn't bring down the temperature (still ~9x on full load). Checking here:

0. Is this normal? (I don't think so - but who knows.. acer might have bad built)/
1. any idea how to fix it?
2. anyone with same model experiencing similar problem?

Eczema like problem

hey guys there.. I'm not sure if i'm the only lucky one here, but I got this red patch above my lips and it's darnfully ugly. Also my upper lips are always chapped no matter how much water I drink.

I've talked to tons of GP and skin specialist, done patch & prick tests, and found out that I'm allergy to all sorts of tooth paste. I stopped using tooth paste (and switched to salt only). The problem went off for ~4 months, then it came back. They all then give up and give me more steroid creams (Hydrocort). It's annoying to use steroid, and it's even more annoying to kiss a girl with red patch on lips and chapped lips...

I recalled some doctor telling me that it's inflamation/irritation due to allergies. Is there any blood test/other tests that I should take to confirm the root cause of this problem? I don't want to live with it...

HLEbroking direct vs nominee account

Hey guys,

I'm trying to open an HLEbroking account here. I was asked by the consultant whether to open a direct account or a nominee account. I opted a direct account since she highlighted that a nominee account would need to pay fees for 'cooperate action, blah blah and so on'.

Anyway I'm a complete noob here. anyone can tell me the difference of these two types of account and their underlying charges involved?

as simple as it sounds, i would like to know if it's possible to study masters in engineering (not sure which yet) after having bsc in Physics? one interesting question is even lets say i got through admision and took a phd, will i be teaching in physics dept, or in eng dept?

two hours ago i was complaining: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1655085

and now my lcd died. when i turn it on, it briefly give 2 second of image before the backlight turn off. what i left is a black screen. i can choose to turn it off, and on again to see the brief 2 second image.

Edit: the inverter gone.

Anyone have idea where to get a new one?

Hi fellow forumers:

I have a big problem with my LCD monitor currently. I usually uses my acer laptop and i have no problem with their monitor but once i changed back to my desktop (which i only do once a few month), I'll get headache after using 2 hours or so.

Any idea what's the problem?

Some common info:
1. yes it's in native resolution
2. brand: M-life (cheapo stuff) 17" 4:3
3. cleartype: on

I am mainly concerned in the brightness/contrast stuff. or was it viewing angle?

anyway, I have stories that previously in USM, if you graduate later than 'expected', you wont get first class even if you got high pointer.

is that true, in particular for UKM? hope any forumers with experience share a little here! thanks!

student exchange: should I?

Just for the sake of discussion:

I'm having an offer to go to singapore (NTU) for one semester. However I cannot credit transfer (and with some complication) I have to graduate 1 year later.

I'm so far.. not active in any co curricular activities. Should I go? some random thought:

1. is sg bit.. too near? XP
2. how well will I benefit? is it worth my 1 yr?

Hi it's a while since i'm being active here!

anyway today i came across one friend saying that to get exemption from repayment of PTPTN, you need to get first class, and ALSO AN INTERVIEW!! fail in interview implies that you still have to pay.

anyone can clarify this matter? is it true?

also actually I was expected (at least for now) to graduate at first class. Lets say I delay my studies for one year (because I wanna go for student exchange, and due to time clashing i have to delay graduation), will i still get the exemption?
