How to upgrade SSD for old laptop with dual HDD?

as per subject, any idea how to start on this procedure?

i plan to change one drive to SSD so that I can transfer my Win10 and some program because right now my laptop took long time to shutdown/booting up and also quite lag in doing some heavy work.

if possible, i dont want to reformat everything, just plug and play.

my laptop is:

ASUS ROG Series G74S
RAM: 8GB
HDD (refer to Win Explorer): C Drive = 199GB, D Drive = 498GB
Win 10.

p/s: in your opinion, should i proceed on this or just use until KO then buy new one? Because I got future plan to buy PC.

EDIT #1: Sorry, only got one HDD with two partition.

Machine or Free Weights?

hi everyone,

im having issue where i can pull off heavier load using machine than using free weights like barbell and dumbell.

for example, on seated chest press machine, i can push around 50-60kg but if using barbell, i cant, put 10kg each side (total 20kg) already feel heavy.

is it because of balance?

anyway which is better for building muscle? if free weights better then, is there ways to improve my issue?

i am currently going for weight loss but i wanna build up my muscle mass, right now my weight 114, i dont mind being 100kg if my body is muscularly fit.

How to cope with loneliness at home?

Is there anyone living alone with family far away from you? By far I mean like east-west Malaysia or you at overseas.

How do you cope with loneliness at home? I do have friends outside, I have membership in my local car club and I also did not mind going out alone at malls etc.

But at home itself, I will feel lonely. There is no one to talk, physically. I could call my gf for a while at night. Plus now I got new responsibility to manage my house as my family just move back, lot of refrigerated food need to be disposed etc. At night, will feel alone as I used to sleep together with my siblings. I cant deny that sometime a ninja will come cutting onion in my house. there is a lot to do when you start living alone but I dont know where to start.

But I know that I'm not reaching depression yet. I can still enjoy my ps4, singing in smule or playing my guitar.

Need your advice to motivate me psychologically and spiritually (i'm muslim btw).

House or ASB Financing?

Hi, I'm 26 this year and now already working for 1 year plus since I grad.

I am thinking to get some kind of asset this year but I'm choosing over house or ASB financing.

FYI, my net income is rm 2k and I only have commitment for my car which is around rm560 (7 yrs installment, 5 yrs left), I've no credit cards whatsoever. No PTPTN also.

So guys, should I go for ASB financing first or apply for house loan first?

Which is better to own first nowadays?

Ps: "House" that i mean includes leasehold apartments etc, i know new landed house is not cheap nowadays.
Ps2: Will get salary increment / bonus this year but the amount not announced yet.

US Goverment Shutdown (with updates)

WASHINGTON: The US government officially shutdown today after the Senate rejected a short-term spending bill to keep the federal government running. The shutdown began at 12:01 am (local time) after a few Republicans joined Democrats in blocking the crucial measure would have provided short-term funding for the Pentagon and other federal agencies. Trump blamed the Democrats for the shutdown which comes exactly a year after he was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. "Dems want a shutdown in order to help diminish the great success of the tax cuts, and what they are doing for our booming economy," he said. Despite last minute bipartisan meetings, the bill to fund the government until February 16 did not receive the required 60 votes. The Senate voted 50-48 to block the stopgap funding measure.

The short-term spending bill was passed by the House on Thursday. This is part of the Democrats strategy to force President Trump and the Republicans to negotiate with them on immigration reforms. The effect of the shutdown would be felt most from Monday when the federal government employees would not be able to join for their work and be forced to stay at home without pay. It is estimated that more than 800,000 federal employees would be furloughed. Only the essential services would be operational.

red hot chili peppers: https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/us-governme...updates-1802448

Turing Phone Cadenza

https://images.maxabout.com/misc/infographi...one-cadenza?v=1

The reports about the upcoming Turing Phone Cadenza has created a buzz in the mobile world. The phone has got a long list of amazing features.

Body: The body is made up of liquid metal and the durable Graphene Oxide.

Battery: The phone has got surprisingly three power sources- 2400 mAh graphene supercapacitor battery, 1600 mAh lithium ion battery, and a hydrogen fuel cell.

SIM: Not two, not three, the phone can support four nano sim cards. And out of these two slots can be used for expanding the storage.

Processor: The phone is powered by 2 Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipsets which are supported by 2 6GB RAM modules. So, the total RAM of the phone goes as 12 GB. The phone runs on the Swordfish OS and this OS has advanced AI based embedded features which includes a memory network and a neural network.

Camera: Coming to the camera specifications, the rear camera and the front camera is 60 megapixels and 20 megapixels respectively. To make your selfies more bright and clear, the phone features two front cameras.

Bulk Storage: The phone offers bulk storage of 1TB, two 256 G memory chips and 500 GB through micro-SD card slots which comes as an additional.

VoiceOn technology: The phone will have natural language processing built into it. With the “VoiceOn” technology, you can switch it off and on with voice commands. Another possibility is that voice might be used for bio-metric authentication. Another tech known as “Advanced AI Voice”, is about a voice based intelligent assistant.

The phone is definitely beyond just being called as a concept and the company has plans to start its shipping in 2017.

We still have no further news of Celcom's Xpax Turbo, however we should expect more information when the new prepaid plan is launched on September 1.

Celcom is offering free unlimited Yonder Music streaming when users subscribe to these data plans, there's also free 500MB of monthly data for social chat apps like WhatsApp and WeChat. The Xpax Turbo starter pack is priced at RM10 and will come with RM6 of preloaded credit, 200MB high speed internet and 500MB basic internet upon activation, call rates are fixed at RM0.24/min and SMS rates are fixed at RM0.12/SMS to all networks.

External DVD Drive keep disconnect and reconnect

hi there,

I have a TSSTcorp SE-084C from Samsung. The problem is, when i insert DVD, the drive keep disconnecting, then reconnect, then disconnect. However, this problem only arises when i insert DVD, when no DVD, the drive act normally by showing up in My Computer.

I plugged 2 USB plug into powered USB port but still no effect. Already try copy driver files from other laptop ( this dvd drive works for those laptops) but still useless.

2 things i noticed are 1) the number of driver files installed in my system32/driver are lesser than the other laptop. 2) some DVD dont have problem. Same thing for CD.

So, what are the problems?

Battery Savings Tips For Beginner

Greetings all Android users,

This is a general tips of saving your battery life in order to get a longer talk time of your phone. Yes, you may find a lot of this tips online, but why dont we discuss between Malaysians users of Android?

NOTE: These tips are general for all users ( rooted and non-rooted users). The life battery is depend on your usage. and for disclaimer, rest assured that all the tips are safe because I tried it ( I'm not experimental guy, so I see others reviews first.) and just in case you have problems, do not blame me okay. And I dont put any link of apps here because u may pick your own choice in Market. And if you have a suggestion, share okay?

Let's start.

CPU

First of all, CPU. Nowadays we are feasting our eyes with all-new smartphone from many brands i.e. Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, HTC and many more. These new smartphones boast their CPU abilities. My Galaxy Note have dual-core CPU. And the newer phones than mine have quad-core CPU. What is this core about? Well, in easy words, think about people carrying a table. Think that the table is a CPU, and the people is CORES. So, if a single person (single core) carry that table, it will be heavier. If two people ( dual-core ), the task is going more lighter. So it is the same for quad-core ( 4 people ). So what this means? It means, the greater your number of cores, the lighter the burden of CPU.

Solution: In this aspect, obviously you have to get a phone with at least dual-core CPU. But no one want to change phone just because of this, so you can use CPUTuner ( root access required ) to lower down its CPU speed a little bit when not in use ( sleeping ). For unrooted phone, the only way is to find power saving features in your phones.

TASK/PROCESSES

For those who use Android for the first time, this is the most irritating problem, even they have some benefit. What benefit? You can open apps at a more quicker rate. But it takes an extra RAM in your phone. You will not feel laggy if you use high-end phone but if you use low-end phone, you will feel the lag. Of course, you will find a task killer to kill those apps. BUT, REMEMBER THIS, some of the apps will autorun itself again and it will drain more battery to initiate, start, load its services and more. There are some automated task killer, where it automatically killing apps. The good thing about it is, you save a little of your battery because you don't have to initiate it ( Click from menu ). But it is still the same, background apps will continue to drain your battery. So how?

Solution: You can try autorun manager to control which apps you want or not want to run. For instance, you might want to stop Facebook from autorun itself. If you are rooted, you may use Gemini Task Manager or Titanium Backup to freeze unwanted apps.

BATTERY SAVING APPLICATIONS ( BSA )

For new users (even me before this), we will find for battery saving apps in Market. For example, JuiceDefender. These types of apps claimed that it can reduce battery drainage. But, take a closer look. As far as I know, there are NO B.S.A. that included cpu settings. It only access our own settings in our phone and alter it. So what is the point? We can do on ourselves. Furthermore, if you install BSA, it will run in background, making your phone 'awake' ( I tell you after this ) and drain your battery.

Awake = A state where your phone doing something, in background.

Solution: Self-awareness. Regularly check on Settings>Applications>Running Services. Force stop apps that you don't want. But be careful of those system apps. Installing RAM manager/cleaner also help a bit.

TEMPERATURES

Temperature is important. Check your battery temperature regularly. High temperature will drain your battery faster. Temperature can increase if you charge ( no problem ), using WIFI for a long time, downloading something and any other big processes.

Solution: Install Solo Battery Widget or related apps. And avoid putting your phone on warm surfaces.

GPU GRAPHICS

I know new phones have nice, crisp graphics. Samsung have Amoled Screen which is very nice. However, this high graphic can drain your battery quicker than ordinary screen because it uses 3D Rendering GPU. In default, you cannot alter graphic settings.

Solution: I don't know yet for unrooted phones. But for rooted, you may want to use ChainFire. It acts as intermediary between apps (games obviously) and GPU. It may do the settings for you.

MONITORING APPLICATION

This is by far, a useful apps. I don't have any battery issues in ICS because of this. This application monitor your CPU process and Deep Sleep so you know about what is going on in the background and take actions.

Solution: Use BetterBatteryStats and CPUSpy. CPUSpy is free, but BBS is paid. In xda developer page, they have it for free, later I find the link. How to use it? Open BBS and see any process that already took long time ( 1 hour or more) . If you see such process, that is the culprit that made your battery problem. Restart your phone and recheck. Use CPUSpy to monitor cpu. Close all running apps, then switch off your screen ( not turn off phone ) and take a nap or sleep. Then, see the Deep Sleep bar. If the bar is long, your phone is okay.

Deep Sleep = A condition where your phone does not having any apps running at all. System services still on though.

Well there are some tips guys. I will update if I tested any new way of saving battery. If you guys have some other way, share it for our mutual benefits.
