iPhone Free Games Thread

I noticed that there's no thread here highlighting free iPhone games (other than the AppVent thread, which is an event by itself). So here's a new thread and if you have news on what games (hopefully nice ones) are up for free on the App Store, kindly share the title and the link to everyone via this thread.

Also, if you have promo codes to give away, you can put up a notice here as well.

Malaysia's Video Game Industry

Anyone of you bought EDGE's November issue yet? There's a spotlight on Malaysia's video game industry (quite a number of pages dedicated to it). The contents are as follows:

Too Good To Be True NDS Deals on Ebay

A bunch of too good to be true NDS deals have appeared on Ebay Malaysia. The modus operandi seems to be the same as the last time I got conned: really cheap starting prices, free shipping and no pictures of the actual product, and more importantly, a recently registered member with no prior record.

I would love to give the seller the benefit of a doubt, but if you guys are buying from him/her, do beware ya:

Missing Thread in Nintendo Subforum

I posted a thread regarding running a NeoGeo emulator on the Nintendo DS yesterday in the Nintendo subforum. The first post consisted of two videos of Neo Geo games running on the DS and a link to a guide on how to make it work. I can't think of how it got removed, as there were no links to ROMS or warez in the post or the external link in the first place. Can the mods kindly check on this?

The package arrived today, along with Pokemon Diamond which I also bought from the same seller. I already had a bad feeling that the games might be pirated versions just by glancing at their shrink-wrapped boxes.

So here’s the cover for Tetris DS. A quick glance and you’ll notice that everything is off-colour (read: dull). My camera seems to flatter this piece of pirated junk, but if you hold it in your hands, not only you’ll notice the colours are dull, but certain stuff, like Mario and the ESRB ratings description are clipped!

A quick check with MobyGames’ Tetris DS boxart gallery (here) would actually confirm that this is not how the original cover should look like. Even the WFC logo is located on the wrong spot.

Taking photos of this damn thing is an exercise in frustration because of the fact that I just spent money buying a damn pirated cart. The manual reads like a game review (I don’t think it’s anything like the original one) and if you are buying a WFC enabled title, you should be getting a whole bunch of WFC manuals as well, which this pirated crap doesn’t come with (which is expected..).

If you remain unconvinced that this is a pirated cart, the back of the box should change your mind. Here, the description is totally off; it sounds like a bloody game review, and yes, a check with MobyGames should put the arguement to rest (here).

I bet you are curious on how the cart looks like. The pictures above should be able to give you some answers. For starters, the pirated cart’s code doesn’t match the one on the box. And on the back of the cart, it’s missing the serial number normally printed on original carts. Even the connectors look sucky.

My advice is that, if you are looking at Nintendo DS games being sold at really unbelievable prices (read..50% off retail) by a China based seller, go look somewhere else. It’s not worth your time, or your money.

Nintendo Gashapon/Toys/Collectibles

I guess that I'm not the only one interested in Nintendo related gashapon and stuff, so to better serve the forum, I'm changing the name of the thread to "Nintendo Related Gashapon/Toys", instead of just "Animal Crossing Gashapon". Feel free to post up related items, your experiences buying them, where did you get them (online,offline..name the place), recommendations and pictures of your collection! There's more to Nintendo then just games and consoles, people!

So to kick things off, to all Animal Crossing fans and interested parties, there's a new set of gashapon available on PA (here). It looks way cooler than the set that I have (Theather version) as they come with accessories. Have a look:
