Prayers & Placebo Effects - you must be warned.

I have not see anyone explain placebo effects and prayers and how they work for anyone.
After a few years of research and observations, I will like to share my knowledge with everyone here, so that you will not suffer from them in later life.
Before I continue:
1) Please be reminded that after finishing reading this message and understanding it, you will not believe anymore in prayers. So if you do not wish to stop praying or stop believing in prayers, you should stop reading here. If you wish to find out the truth behind prayers or hope to find a better alternative to prayers, please continue.
2) Prayers here applies to every religion, regardless of praying to any god, statue, object or person, living or dead; and applies only to those for "requests" or "miracles". It don't applies to prayers that show "expression of respects".
3) Placebo effects, is too much for me to explain. Please Google or read up the meaning of placebo effects before you continue. Some of you might have heard that sometime doctors give "fake meficine" without any medical effects, just to test the patient for placebo response.

Now, into what I wish to share.
I have seen personally and also heard of several cases where religious followers suffered badly before they die. Especially among the elderly couples. After one passed away, his/her spouse will follow soon. The reason is because they start to doubt their religion or god since their prayers no longer work for them like before. What they don't understand is when they are younger, naturally whether it is their body's health or career conditions, their prayers provided them with the placebo effects that gave them the positive energies that could cure their sickness or improve their emotions.
Ultimately, at old age when death is near and no one can escape from it, these people don't understand and start to be unhappy when they find their prayers no longer work. Especially when someone in the family passed away due to illness or accident and the other family members will start to question why didn't their God or prayers work ? Of course, some religions are smart to let them think that to die is not a bad thing but it proved their God "love" the person so he choose to take his life in order that he can be close to god. At least this is the way both the Christians and Muslims are told. So those who died in the Mecca pilgrimage trip every year is considered a "good death". Of course dying is part of the life process as everyone must die once but to claim that dying means it's good or closer to God is an excuse meant for the ignorants. Take for example the last Air Asia plane crash where 40 over church members from Surabaya and a Korean evangelist couple and their baby is in the flight. When the plane first disappeared without any trace, some church pastors do prayers actively for their safety return. Later they are proven all dead, what does that prove ? Not only that it proved prayers will not work but also their god is cruel, wasn't it ? Before their God take their lives, did he seek permission from the victims' families ?

My advice is that people should not follow any religion or do prayers blindly if they do not wish to be disappointed later. It's better that one understand the life process of birth, growth, ageing, sickness and death and accept it as it is instead of being fooled into some "after life" promises that no one have ever encountered. Why not be in heaven in this life instead of the next ?

Why are vegetarian food restaurants not truthful ?

So today I went to have lunch in a very large vegetarian canteen located next to a Chinese Buddhist temple. At least 100 Chinese and Indian office workers are eating there.
It's chap fan self service style. I ask the attendant something that look at char sew what is this ? She said Char Siew. Then I say I want to know what is it made of....she still say char siew. Then I say....I know this is fake char siew and I am not asking for its name. I want to know the main ingredient. She beat around the bush and give me that babi name.
Then I ask for his boss or manager. Finally she said it is made of flour.
This is not my first such encounter.
Twice I ate at veggie restaurant when I ask what on the menu, same problem. They won't give you name of ingredients but always the animal name.
Why cheat ?
I thought these Buddhists who don't eat animals are honest or kind ?
Why must they still create fish, pork, beef and self-cheat ?

Rebirth Evidence - Mozart & 100 over people !

A village in Hunan, China. Discovered 100 over people with proven evidence they have a previous life.
I have tried to Google English but can't find anything.
I Google in Chinese the following words and found so many websites. Looks like it was big news in China. I think it appeared in TV news and after reading them, it's believeable.

中国湖南一百再生人

So those who think that anything must be proven by science in order to be accepted as truth, think again.
There may be many more things in this world not discovered or proven by science yet, including any God.
In fact, there are already many scientists who believe in it or researching. Logic will tell you if any claim us debunked by science or lacked logic, scientists will do research for it.

www.victorzammit.com

I am sure you have heard about rebirth of HH Dalai Lama but how about Mozart ? Isn't Mozart a good evidence of rebirth ?
The case of Mozart needs no further evidence. How do you explain that 5 year old kid who had never learned music able to write music ?
If you are interested to read more about him, just Google Mozart with rebirth or past live and read up what many scientists said about it.
This will be additional evidence to back up my belief that Christianity is a fake religion or having a fake god, since they claim there is no rebirth, unlike Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism etc.
Looks like the bible may need a "newer testament" with rebirth or reincarnation to be added ?

Also,
Galileo of the 20th century ?
http://www.near-death.com/experiences/reincarnation01.html

Below is a link from Thailand.

http://www.budsas.org/ebud/ebdha127.htm

Karma(or Action) Explained non-religiously.

I always hear people having a misunderstanding of the word Karma thinking it is superstitious or it is exclusive to Buddhism.
They are wrong.
Let me explain here using the simplest manner. If anyone of you have a better way to explain or any questions, please do so(but I will seldom be back to Lowyat, at least not as often as before).
Karma actually means "action" and most of the older religions believe that if you do good, you will get good returns in the future. If you do bad, you will get bad returns. Just like the saying "you reap what you sow". Science call it "every action has a similar reaction". There is nothing supernatural or superstitious about it. Both Hinduism and Chinese religions believed in it long before the Buddha explained it. Now, let me explain with some examples:

Our present situation is actually the result of the past, be it an hour ago, a day ago, 20 years ago or even more; and what we will do next or in the future depends on what we do now. For example,

1) The Air Asia tragedy last week. If the passengers did not take that flight, they will not ended up in it(although the flight will still be on) so it's their "action" that put them involved. If it was not because of the incident, we will not know that Air Asia actually made that flight without permit. So will Air Asia or Tony Fernandez need to be responsible for it ? Certainly so but depending what what course of 'action' they take. For example Tony acted very fast and he received a lot of praises for himself as well as Air Asia but does that mean he will not need to be responsible ? Of course not, this is his own karma for costing the lives of those passengers.

2) The 2 Korean Christian Missionaries among the passengers. If they are not doing such missionary work going to Surabaya to convert Indonesia people to become Christians, they will not be in the flight. So it is their own karma, not God's. Well, I take the opportunity here to emphasize that no God can change your own karma and certainly not by any forms of prayer. Everyone is the result if their own karma. If any god has the power to change the karma/action of anyone or if he is really as effective as made to believe, his own missionaries should not be among the passengers, isn't it ?
(Someone consider my example here as offending, bashing and hatred to Christianity, how is that so ? I am just writing my opinion with the truth to support and my stand to all majority of religious people (not just Christians) remains the same. I love them and NOT hate them. That is why I wanted to save them from being gullible and ignorance. Just like some religions claimed their God or love them or able to give salvation to them. But can they really ?).

3) Myself as an example. Around 10 days ago, lowyat forum suspended me for a week with the reason that (I may have to check the message again and edit) I offended Christianity or Islam or cursing them or telling someone in another thread that Islam and Christianity should kill each to prove whose God is the real one. So you see ? If I have not written that comment, I will not get suspended but because I was suspended for a week, I used my time to explore other websites and forums all over the world and I ended knowing more and earning more knowledge. Not to Mention that I also spend more time in my business and I did better during the last 10 days. Also because of the moderator's action, I decided to contribute less to Lowyat in future and more to other forums.

In order words, it's all about cause and effect and every action creates a reaction.
Then you ask me, so what will will happen to me or you next ?
Can we change our karma ?
Of course we want.
We are only what we are today because of the past but how, what or who we are in the future will depend very much on what we are going to do next.

For eg because I start to feel hungry now, so I stop here to go for food. Because of that, you don't get to read more.

KARMA !!

For those who need a Google link, here is a good one:

http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/karma.htm

Recently a camera shop assistant told me some recent local movies shown in the cinema was shoot by DSLR that cost just around RM10K, a CANON.

Is it true ? If DSLR can shoot movies, who still buy the video cam ? Can anyone advise their pros and cons ?

I read some websites but undecided. Can any experts here give me some advise ?.

I am inclined for the DSLR too as it is more handy to travel compared with the video cam but I will not want to miss something that the DSLR cannot do which the video cam can.

In what way can a video cam better than the DSLR ?

I am looking for something that can shoot cinema quality movies but don't break the bank.
