Problem with DELL Studio 1558

Screen flickers like mad on welcome / logon page when boot up and occasional black screen then flicker again.

So far, I googled around all ask to send to DELL but the laptop had long past its warranty period

Any experts here can give valuable advice? Thanksss.

Need help regarding TOEFL

Hey guys. I wanna take TOEFL as soon as possible but after I register for the nearest exam date (Jan 12 next year), I can't make the payment through my father's credit card. The error message read: Sorry your mobile number has not been registered for verified by VISA authentication. So my dad went to the bank and registered his mobile number, fill in all the forms and the bank personal even assure him his VISA card is OK to use. 1 hour later, I tried making the payment again but the same error message appear.

Any advice?

HELP! Lagging when gaming!

I'm currently using a 1.5 year old ASUS X42JR laptop. During the 1st year, everything was fine. I can multitask on it smoothly and the laptop barely heats up even after hours of usage (Only the charger's worrying me, you can literally fry an egg on it XD But ASUS assured me it's normal).

But then recently, my laptop had been giving me lots of problems.
1. It heats up to a worrisome temperature at boot itself (CPU Usage desktop gadget reported at +-80c) and it keeps going up till the laptop shuts itself down due to overheating! Sometimes it takes just 30 minutes for this to happen and I now have to use a fan to specifically blow at the laptop to cool it down a little...

2. Before this, I can play any game smoothly even with highest setting. But now, the games tend to start smoothly for initial few minutes then goes all laggy and even in game sound becomes stretch... Even at lowest possible setting this still happens all the time

With these problems in mind, can someone give me a rough idea what's wrong with my laptop? I tried asking the shop I bought it from and they insisted that my laptop's fan needs cleaning (That's RM50 charge) but even they won't guarantee the problem will go away. So HELP!!!!

Hi y'all, newbie here.

Currently waiting for my A-Levels result before applying for Electronic Engineering major in Telecommunication or Computer. Tried digging out everyone's opinion on the course and university but most of it dates waaaaaaaay back.

So hopefully you guys (especially those currently studying in the uni itself or the courses) can state your own personal opinion here so as I can have much more information on MMU. Any opinion is welcomed whether it's about the lecturers, the adminstators, the uni's system, the course, food, facilities and etc.
