Gender Discrimination

I have been working for year now in the contractor firm and this colleague of mine join in a few weeks after me.
He is a Master graduate while I'm just a degree graduate. The most interesting thing about him is that he often make spelling mistake when typing a letter and yet he was like so blur whenever he was given any task to do. And I was assign to do the task with him.

One day, he ask for my opinion on something and I tell him what I think of that. But I really don't believe that HE actually go tell the boss about it and the boss praise him for that. But whenever the boss don't agree on something and ask him why he propose to do that, HE started to push all the blame to me and say that it was MY opinion. And so the boss started to scold me for that and I try to explain to him that it wasn't my opinion but the boss always side him by saying that he is still new in this industry or what so ever.

Is it because he is a HE and my boss practice the gender discrimination in the workplace?
