Overseas Dial/Caller Ringtone

Hey All,

When i am in roaming, my dial tone will be different then when i am in Malaysia.

Is there a way to change this? Is there any Telco offers a service that prevents anybody from knowing im in overseas when they call me?

Usually overseas dial tone is longer like.... beeeeeeeeep, beeeeeeeeep.

While malaysia dial tone is beep beep, beeep beep.

Digital audio delay - AV receiver

Hello.

I have a China made AV receiver. However I have a problem with the digital signal input be it HDMI, Toslink or Coaxial.

Whenever, there's an audio signal sent to the receiver, There will be a 1sec delay. So I won't hear something until 1sec later.

Is there a way I can fix this? Is there a way to send 'constant' digital signal so that there won't be any 'cut' in the signal and eliminate the delay?

TPLINK C1200 - Port Foward

Hello,

TM just gave me this TPLInk router model c1200.

I try port forwarding using virtual server - i forwarded ALL my ports to test.

Then i did port scanning and only port 80 is open?!! I try port forwarding single port like 22 for SSH, and its blocked as well. then i port forward random ports, also blocked. Only 80 is open.

Did TM block ALL ports except port 80 or am i doing this wrong?

MIUI uncapped office router?

Hi,

I am on my office wifi both one my 2 phones and on my laptop. My ASUS running stock android and my laptop on windows 8 has their wifi speed capped. However, my phone running MIUI have its speed uncapped.

I tested it with speedtest and download test files. I have capped speed at 5mb/s on laptop but my MIUI phone is showing 20mb/s.

Is there a possible explanation? And how can i replicate this on windows?

Car Loan Guarantor works overseas

Hi. I just started working (a month) but needed a car because current car breaks down all the time and affects work. Wondering if i can get loan? ( I am sure i cant so it leads to the next question ). My dad is working abroad and have good credit rating when he was in Malaysia and now he is overseas his credit rating is good too... Account and salary is quite high but problem is he is abroad. Can i still apply the loan with him being the guarantor? He is in Malaysia right now for the moment so he can sign and everything.

Will it be possible?

Intel drop my WiDi support?

Hey guys,

I am using Intel Centrino Wireless N 130 and from Intel's website, they say this card is not supported for WiDi. However, when I bought my laptop, it ships with WiDi as it is. Even on Samsung website, there is the WiDi driver available. However, when I want to update, they say my card is not supported and like I said, it's stated in their website that my card is not supported.

I am confused right now. Has Intel drop the support for widi? It works well on windows 7 however, in windows 8.1 I need to have the latest driver but it says not supported.

Laptop wont connect to external monitor

I have a i7 laptop with intel hd3000 n nvidia GC and also a Samsung b2430 monitor.

Problem is i cant connect my laptop to my monitor via HDMI. When connected nothing happens.
I have a GeChic external monitor and connects to my laptop via HDMI just fine. Even my HDTV connects to my laptop just fine.

Now, my monitor is working just fine because I can connect other HDMI devices to it without problem.

What could be the problem? Do i need a driver for the monitor? ( I doubt so) or does this has got to do with HDCP? However, AFAIK HDCP is only for the content.
My monitor has no HDCP on HDMI only for the DVI. And DVI to HDMI conversion doesnt work too.

HDMI to Monitor not working

Hello guys,

I have a problem with my Samsung 24inch Monitor. When i connect my laptop HDMI and my Acer A500 micro HDMI to the monitor, nothing displays ( no signal detected ).

When i connect my desktop HDMI, there is display on my monitor

So i decided to connect my acer A500 to my DSLR field monitor with HDMI pass through and it works on my monitor!
( Acer A500 --> DSLR Monitor --> Samsung Monitor )

My laptop HDMI also works on my LCD TV.

So what could be the problem? Why couldnt my laptop and acer a500 connect to the monitor but my DSLR monitor can? ( via HDMI pass through )

Hey, i dont know which topic should this be, so feel free to move it.

Anyway, i just bought a cheap Vinnfier speakers, 2.1 to be exact, and it produces hum when not plugged in. I know this is what to expect from cheap speakers but i also found out that if i plug into my laptop, the hum is gone!

When i plug to my phone, however, the hum is slightly softer and when i plug to my tablet and ipod touch, the hum only exist when volume is mid range.

When vol of speaker is set at low or towards the high end, the hum gone.

Now, here is my ques.... Does the laptop produce any "signal" that acts like a "silent sound" and remove the hum or it grounds the sub?

AV Receiver or Amp?

Hey guys,

I just purchase a Monoprice 8247 on the cheap as a 2nd 5.1 speaker for my room but it seems it is a passive system. Besides an AV Receiver or an Amplifier, are there any other ways to get it work?

I am using it mostly to connect to 3.5mm jack i.e : laptop, handphone and etc.

I dont need any good sounding eq, just something pretty basic to let it work. I have a home theater but my system has an inbuilt receiver n amp so i dont really know how these work.

If it's not possible, are there any cheap AVR or amp below say rm300? im not connecting it to television or dvd player.

Indie movie setup : Mic + Recorder

Hello people! I am planning to do some video in a controlled environment such as studio as well as outdoor shooting. I am on a budget and only basic knowledge in film n sound production.

I recently bought a china shotgun mic thinking I would b able to record sound using my pc sound card only to discover my worst nightmare. My sound card doesn't have a preamp so the gain is damn low..

My question is, based on what im shooting, should I get a usb preamp like the art tube usb dual xlr preamp so I can work with my laptop and I can also work with my 550d as it works with 9v battery or should I get a voice recorder?

The only concern I have with the recorder is the preamp. I'm scared its not good enough to boost gain... N create lotsa noise..

For voice recorder I can only afford zoom h1 and those around that price ( rm200 on ebay) . The art preamp is also is also 200. Or do u have any other suggestions?

I just got a gtx260. dis is my first card that needs 2 X 6 pin connector. as my psu has only 1 6 pin, i tried connecting it cuz AFAIK, underpower GC will still run. But to my dismay, nothing comes out on the screen with 1 X 6 pin. Is it normal that this card wont have any display with 1 pin and need 2 pin to run or the card is faulty?

FIFA 11 Lags when AC Charger plug in

My FIFA 11 lags on my laptop when its plug into AC Charger but when its on battery, its smooth as silk. On battery its on Balanced, while on charger its on High Performance. I switch profiles but to no vial. Tried different settings as recommended by other forums, and yes it works, it gets smoother and better.. On battery. On AC its still the same.

My laptop sepc : dual core 2ghz, nvidia 9300m gs, 2gb ram, win 7 23bit.
