Newbie to share trading

Recently I have been exploring the option of buying shares as a form of investment. However, I did some calculation and it seems that it is so difficult to break even given such high brokerage fees and admin fees.

For example:
If I were to buy 3000 units of Sunreit shares back in Oct 2018 which was valued at 1.70 per share. I would have to fork out about 5.7K after factoring in broker fees. These shares, now valued at 1.95, would net me about 5.2K if I were to sell them. Doing so would make me a loss of $500 or NRR of -10.2%, even though the share price increased by 25 cents. The loss is due to the fact that I have to pay over 1.2K of brokerage fees.

I incorporated the below fees into my calculation:
- stamp duty (RM1 per 1000)
- clearing fee (0.03%)
- brokerage fee (0.08%) or min RM8
- 6% SST on brokerage fee

So my question is how do people actually make money via the stock market? I end up losing money even though I invested in a steady, growing stock. Wouldn't it be better for me to just put my money in a FD with a guaranteed NRR of 3%.

Dumbest things you have ever said in an interview

I just told an interviewer an hour and half into the interview that it was the longest interview I had ever been in. He then went on to explain how they had only chosen 3 people to interview out of 250 applicants and I was one of the 3. I immediately realized my mistake and told them that I was very grateful that they gave me the opportunity to interview. The interview went on for another 30mins. It wasn't a matter of nerves, it was because I was becoming too comfortable since the first hour and a half of the interview went pretty well. I will only know the results by the end of the week.

Its funny how we can laugh at others for saying the dumbest things at an interview and then end up doing it ourselves. Do you think I just lost myself the job and what are some of the dumbest things you have ever said in an interview?

What should I do with my accounting degree

I have an accounting degree but I am not sure what to do now. What kind of accountant should I become If I am someone who likes to travel and work in different countries. Tax wouldn't be a good option since each country has its own tax laws. What about audit or corporate accounting? Do all countries follow international auditing standards? What other areas of accounting offer great versatility in the global marketplace.

Need advice

I'm 23, unemployed and living in Australia with parents. Since I'm Aus PR, I'm getting around 1100AUS a month on unemployment support. That’s around 3,500 MYR for not doing anything. I have been looking for an accounting job in Australia for the past 1 year without much success. Hard to get a job as an Asian.

Thinking of getting an entry level accounting job in Malaysia which would mean that I have to work my ass off and get still paid less than 3,500 MYR. I think entry level salary would be around 2,000 to 2,500 MYR.

What would you do in my shoes? Stay on in Aus or move to Malaysia for job opportunity?

Getting a job in malaysia

I have an accounting degree and I am interested in working in Malaysia as I am having trouble securing an accounting job in Australia.
Eventhough I am a Malaysian citizen, I don't know malay since I grew up in Singapore and Australia. My chinese language skills are only at a conversational proficiency.

How would I fare as an accounting professional in a major city like KL, given my limited language skills? I am a little worried because I get the feeling that I would have to understand malay when dealing with government authorities. I looked up the inland revenue office website and noticed that some documents, eg. stamp duty documents, do not have english translations.
