Hello guys,

I'm an undergraduate student from Japanese university. I'm thinking of becoming a lecturer as my future career.
If any of you have any experience being tutor/lecturer in local university please share your thoughts. Any other related opinion is also welcomed.

Questions:

1) Salary vs working hour/pressure?
2) Is it better to work in company and apply for lectureship later?
3) Pros and cons of being a lecturer.

9800gt problem

Hello guys.

A few days ago my pc was working fine.
- Gigabyte 7aum-ds2h
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
- Onboard video card G9400
- Win 7 (7600)
- 4gig DDR2 RAM

Until I woke up in the morning and decided to buy a new video card...

Geforce 9800gt
maker:kuroutoshikou (aka Galaxy)

At first win7 detected the GC and installed drivers from windows update. Next boot:blue screen.
So I did a system restore and installed the drivers from CD. Version 18X.XX. Next boot:Stuck at windows loading.
Then I did a system restore again and installed drivers from the internet. Version 19X.XX. Next boot,same as above.

With nothing to do at that time, I reinstalled win7 and repeated above steps. Fruitless. I thought it must be Win7 incompatibility problem.

So I borrowed Vista CD from my senior and give it a try. The result is same, Windows cant be loaded after I installed the drivers.

Spend next few hours looking for solution..I found a few guys with quite similar problems.

guy 1)9800gt, win crash after driver update.
guy 2)Same problem with me but his thread was left for dead.
guy 3)Same problem with me, solved his problem by installing drivers in safe mode (which is I tried and failed)

So I'm posting this to lowyat hoping that someone could help me through this problem.

Hi I'm a preemie

Hello guys. Just wanted to share my story and ask a few questions..

I was a preemie(baby born in premature birth) and now I consider myself as a teenager.
I remember when I was in kindergarten I didnt talk much and I only had a few friends.
Since I was a child, I had difficulty with remembering things and paying attention. + I can't draw.
Even now, if i go into a building I cant remember the way back and end up choosing the wrong path.

I also have physical issues like:
-I'm 170cm but my weight is just around 50kg.Yes, I'm freaking skinny.
-My eyes sucks at night.

So I just want to ask any preemie/non-preemie out there, do you have the same problem as mine?

processor's fault?

I recently bought a new pc.

It works well for about 2 weeks. But last night I discovered that my pc started lagging when I play Dota.[before this it was great]

I tried to decrease the graphic details from HIGH to LOW but no luck.
Change Nvidia configuration.No luck.
Then I reinstalled warcraft.No luck.
System Restore.Stopped halfway-error.No luck.
Format pc.No luck.

The funny thing is when I play CS,the movement become very fast.

and today I noticed that there's something wrong with my system information.

The processor's speed=517 Mhz
It supposed to be 3Ghz right?

Could someone please help me settle this?

msconfig is gone

I just came back home last night for semester break.
I found out that something wrong with my pc.
AVG,firewall,YM,firefox all gone.I also cannot connect to the internet.
I wonder if it's all my sister's fault.

After a few hours of trial and errors, I manage to connect the internet.Download all those missing stuff and install it back.

Then I realized that I can't access to msconfig [run>msconfig]

the error was
"windows cannot find 'msconfig'.make sure ou type it correctly ...."

Anyone can help me with this?

Hello guys.I need help over here.

I'm trying to create a simple software to connect VB to database [access] which contains kanji characters.But the problem is VB read the data as crap.It works well with roman characters.

I'm using
-Visual Basic 6.0
-Microsoft IME
-Access 2000

I'm interested in learning Chinese.But I'm already 17 and I'm afraid I'm too old to do so.Can somebody point me a good start?
