Passport renewal

Hello.
I am planning to go for passport renewal this weekend.
Either Saturday or Sunday coz Friday is public holiday.

Would like to seek some opinion on which utc or jpn around Klang Valley is having lesser crowd during weekend.
It would be even better if you all can share what would be the time to reach there, to avoid the peak crowd.

I have tried the online renewal but it prompts me to visit nearest immigration instead.. =(

Thanks in advance!

First time home buyer here.

Hi,

first time home buyer here. About to pay the deposit these few days. Is there any lawyer that you guys appointed before that is good and responsible? Please recommend some as I have no idea where to get them right now ><

Also some several unclear point.

1. When is the right time to hire lawyer in the process of purchasing? (during which stage)
2. Should the seller use the same lawyer as mine?
3. Should I hire the bank recommended lawyer for loan and my personal lawyer for SnP?
4. How to know whether the unit is master title or individual title? Any different between them?
5. Should I listed all the furniture/accessories (aircond unit, fan unit, autogate, cabinet, etc) during when signing offer to purchase?
6. Should I sign the offer to purchase with only agent (owner overseas).

Please shed some light on this newbie, really a lot to go through ><!

Surge, Voltage regulator, UPS for Home Ent Set

Hi to everyone here,

Some background first. Hope it wont be too long.
Just bought a whole new TV-Set & Home Theater system.

TV = SONY 65hx925
HT set = Sony bdv-e990w

Other than several HDMI cables, I suddenly realized that I should have invest some money into surge protection (lightning) or Voltage regulator or UPS so that my Home Entertainment Set is properly protected.

1. Occasionally, there will be power outage(blackout) happen in this neighborhood. So I am thinking is UPS needed for this situation to protect the TV in case of sudden power off caused by this? Is it expensive for power output like TV?

2. For surge protector & Voltage regulator, i think I must get it in order to protect the set. So any good brand & model to recommend by sifus here? My PC set currently using SF9512DSL MS2+3 from CAL-LAB. So far so good. But is this good enough for TV Set?
Should I get Trickle star, Belkin, Karldon ? Good feedback from these?

Also, search result return there is product like
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/489172
which deliver "cleaner" power to the Home theater System.

Do I need this kind of item to provide better protection? or the functions are included in those protection kind of stuff?

Hopefully this will be some guideline for anyone who has no idea on protection (like me).

Any input would be greatly appreaciated .Thanks in advance

Simple home theatre system

Dear bros,

Would like to have your advise here as I am not the expert in home theatre system.

I am going to move to a new house and would like to buy a simple home theatre system
I am going for a LED TV with 55" with a good audio system.

At this moment, I am aiming at Sony 55HX75 pairing with Sony BDV-N990.
Another alternative is to take BDV-E290 with half of the price of N990.

Is it true that BDV-N990 is fully wifi connected, which means no cable (or minimum cable) needed for this configuration with TV? How well the sound quality of BDV-N990 compared to N290? Thinking to choose N290 if the sound quality is similar between them.

Would appreciate if you guys can recommend something...

Many thanks in advance!!!

Role change advice in IT

hi,

Some background of me first
I graduated as IT degree holder majoring software engineer.
After graduate, I work at one software house for 3yrs 6months.

Currently, as my second job, i am working at one MNC company as software engineer for about 6 months.

Okay, the current dilemma is that there is one project manager post available internally (involve risk management, budget management, etc) that interest me. My manager would actually allow me to take that role if i would like to.

My questions are
1. Would the PM role better than software engineer in term of salary and future career progression (supply&demand of PM in IT market)
2. Is it hard to skip to another company if working as PM compared to SE?
3. Would technical knowledge (SE) have better future proof compared to Management knowledge (PM) ?

any information sharing/advice/input/question would be greatly appreciated..
