Vasseti to unveil high-speed Internet service June

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Vasseti Datatech Bhd will introduce a high-speed Internet service in Malaysia on June 1 following the signing of a service agreement with GL Broadband (GLBB), a multi-lingual commercial Internet service provider in Japan.

Group managing director Ranjeet Singh Sidhu said the group had invested about RM500 million to instal the fibre optic for the service.

"We hope to start our service on June 1 and we expect to achieve over 20,000 users within the first six months of operations," he told reporters after the signing of the service agreement today.

Ranjeet signed on behalf of Vasseti while GLBB was represented by its chief executive officer Paul Edward Foulkes.

Ranjeet said GLBB will be the official outsourcing partner for Vasseti in deployment and expansion of the broadband offering and will manage all of Vasseti's technical, business and commercial operations.

"GLBB will leverage on Vasseti's telco asset such as V Telecoms Bhd which owns extensive fibre optic infrastructure in the Klang Valley as well as Peninsular Malaysia," he said.

Foulkes said the project will be carried out in phases, beginning in the Klang Valley before reaching other states in Malaysia within the next six months.

"We expect by the end of 2012, the whole of Malaysia will be able to get our service," he said, adding the group has yet to decide on the user charge.

"We will be offering bandwidth solutions which are 5Mbps, 10Mbps, 20Mbps and 50Mbps for residential and business consumers," he said.
