Contract based vs Permanent position

Good day to everyone,

I'm a fresh grad. Recently I had apply a job which is 1-year contract based. My friend advise me to find other job which is permanent position coz he said it's risky if it's contract based. His point of view is after 1-year if the employer don't offer me a permanent position, I have to find other job & I tied by the contract's T&C in 1 year which mean I can't quit if I find out that the job is not suit me.

So, I would like to seek your opinion about the different between contract based position & permanent position. Please share your experience. I have no idea about contract based job.

How about the remuneration for contract based employee, will they get the same benefits as permanent employee such as EPF, SOCSO, etc? Will contract based employee have medical, insurance coverage, opportunities for training and development of potential??

Any opinion and sharing are welcome. Thank you.

How to transfer data

Hi, all LYN members,
a noob here need your help.

I download movie, drama and etc using the PC at my home. Then, i transfer all the file to my notebook coz i only have time to watch it when i go back to college. Normally, the size of file is more than 400MB and i don't want to burn it into CD coz i will delete it after i watch it.

Before this I use method 1 to transfer the file using Ethernet crossover cable but I found out it's unconvenient because every time I have to change the IP address for both PC and notebook and after that I have to set the PC IP address back to connect to the Internet.

Later, I want to try method 2 for tranfer data using USB to USB data transfer cable. So, i bought a normal USB A/M to USB A/M cable to try but this method didn't work. Neither my PC nor my notebook can detect each other. After do some research in the Internet, i found out i need a USB to USB Data Adapter to transfer file. I just need to install driver for the adapter, plug and play if i using this method.

I also found out method 3 that I can transfer file using IEEE 1394(FireWire) cable but I couldn't found out more information about how it work.

QUOTE

My questions are:
1. Can i transfer data using a normal USB A/M to USB A/M cable? If yes, how? Please teach me to do the configuration.
2. Do i need to do any configuration or install any software/driver if I transfer data using FireWire cable? If any, can u teach me step by step.
3. Can someone give me some tutorial how the method 3 works?
4. Where i can but the USB to USB Adapter/IEEE 1394 cable in Malaysia? How much it cost?

thank you in advance for your help. Have a nice day.
