any alternative solution for LGA 775 proc?

below my signature is the spec of my PC, well before the motherboard decides to give probs

quick check in pricelist reveals only 1 or 2 brands that still sell LGA 775 motherboards and after asking some shops they dont have the stock

What other options I have? I hope to reuse as much hardware as possible (short of cash) and i dont need more performance improvements, just stay the same is good enough

Any advice?

Hi,

I'm planning to build another budget hifi system, no money for bells n whistles, so m looking for the best bang for buck like my ta2020 amp...

hope I can find a external DAC that is not far from the SQ of Asus Xonar STX Essence which im using on my pc

I prefer a neutral sound characteristic, at least mid n low range details r clear,
let the recommendations roll... some description n where to get it will b nice!

is it ok to bring along ur partner on a biz trip?

going for a biz trip to europe n gf wants to buy her own ticket n go along... but if my company finds out, would it b not nice? Theres a few places I will travel on rail n i hav to be 'accompanied' by my colleagues over there.... so i dont think it's convenient during those times

she wants to enjoy the free accomodation n experience to travel along with me

samsung or LG?

I'm considering these 2:

1)LG 42LF20R - 42" full HD
2)Samsung LA40B530 - 40" full HD

owners or experienced sifu pls honestly share your impressions with them, (no flaming pls!)
price/spec of both quite similiar (LG is slightly more expensive but 2" bigger), now comparison of performance and reliability issues

I browse online n found some bad comments from samsung owners, pls see here and here so I got worried on buying samsung then I got equally worried about LG when i cant find anything about it.... is it better or worse?

after i get the LCD, using it 70% for gaming (Full HD), 30% for watching movies/dramas

<HELP> Prob with built-in audio

Pls see my PC specs as below my signature

running XP without any probs then 1 day, games skips n sound become distorted....when i restart pc, windows tells me 'new hardware found' then ask for 'Audio Device Drivers' so i thought maybe audio driver prob? so reinstall my Realtek HD Audio drivers but no it didnt work... my drivers cannot be used for that audio device driver windows asking.

When I chk device manager, it seems like now I have 2 audio device driver, 1 installed another alien (?) one...cannot find any suitable driver....why is this?

I have tried reinstall many times until i format whole pc n reinstall XP, n the drivers, ...still ask for 'audio device drivers' same prob.... but now no sound at all.

erm....im not any pro so pls enlighten me, coz I hope to get genuine advice from sifus here

its my 1st post so I think i'd better give an intro:

I've been poisoned to good HIFIs when I stepped into those AVfest back in late 90s. Reading 'What HIFI' mag made things worst so I ended up with a pair of bookshelf speakers and AV receiver (instead of stereo amp coz I thought I would go for surround 5.1 later but never did) anyway, these all hooked up to my PC(with creative AWE 64 GOLD, high Signal-to-Noise Ratio with gold plated stereo output). FYI, I use my PC for music, movies, games just about everything.....

few years ago, my sound card went dead, so I used the built-in soundcard and has since upgraded my PC few times then. I thought I can still live with the sound (budget constraint). but my worst nightmare came, after 10yrs of regular-firing, left speaker now sound distorted/grainy. I'm very unhappy and vowed to replace the whole system (loudspeakers, matching stereo amp and soundcard). I love to enjoy sound clarity; not willing to trade sound quality for surround sound from my limited budget. So, I start looking around then I read from here that I should also go get a dedicated sound card like Prodigy HD2, man I'm so outdated....I've seen and tested the MS avant 906i paired with Marantz PM6003, its to my type of liking, not too bright and very good staging, airy although I must remind myself the source was from matching Marantz CDP....

at about RM3.6k with good quality cables, its still quite out of my budget of below 3k considering that I haven't even buy the sound card yet. Anyway, I'd like to know if a PC with Prodigy HD2 source will not be good enough to bring out the same performance? If not, then what do you recommend?

p/s: if its good enough might consider to tighten my belt and drink Milo for breakfast and eat sandwiches for lunch....

Date of transaction: paid on AUg 26 2009, wrong item received on Sep 2 2009.

Details of the complaint : He agreed that he will refund but ask me to send it back to him, then after that stop replying to my questions. My questions: Who's gonna bear the postage charges and when I get refunded? such details should be addressed and of course fair to the buyer because it is obviously the seller's fault. As the buyer, I have already paid the postage charges but he delivered the wrong item to me. So I asked him, but he's not been replying for days. I started wondering maybe he intended to escape for a mere RM50. I have already given him the benefit of doubt, time and chance to make things right. GUYS BEWARE!!! He even holds a 'safe trader' sign. sigh

to uglyvamp: u still owe me RM50!!! Its not the amount, but principle. I will send back the sflex fan + extra molex connector after I get my RM50 + postage charges to send it back to you.

You have stated to sell model SFF21G(even with picture) so before I placed order, I checked that it suits my requirement thats why I bought it, BUT why did you send me a SFF21E?? SFF21E is only 1200rpm 49cfm, while the other i wanted is 1900rpm 75cfm!!!
How do you rectify this?

Its been already 24hrs since we last communicated, but I still have yet to receive your reply.
I do not know for what reason you are not replying and obviously I think you don't care much because its my money at stake. I have given you enough benefit of doubt from start to settle this responsibly, but you do not seemed to be checking frequently like the time when u are selling it and even knowing this is an outstanding issue.
Maybe I have been too kind, I will be posting this on dispute corner another 24 hrs from now to warn other members of your method of dealing. This has to be the most unpleasant transaction for me.

Do I need more juice?

Just got ONE question, my PSU = Enermax FMA II 460W, can it safely handle a HD4850 512mb GS?

my current PC setup:

- C2D E???? (4gotten model) stock 2.1Ghz OC to 3.2Ghz (CPU voltage set at 1.125v, stock is 1.325v) - edited typo
- 1Gb x2 dual channel DDR800 Elite Rams (running at 800Mhz 5 5 5 16, stock)
- 1x 250Gb HDD
- 1x CDRW drive
- 1x 7900GS zalman edition (planning to upgrade this)

SMC 7904 firmware?

i got this wireless ADSL/router modem, but their website support is poor.....the firmware made available is only 0.39a

mine was originally 0.33, so i tot wat the heck upgrade la, i tried.......now i cant connect to streamyx it always says login fail(looking from the log).............

i chk from the modem status in SMCadmin, the modem is physically up, DSL light is stable n I double-chk my passwords but it still fails to connect even I triple-rebooted my modem

pls anybody here can direct me where to get firmwares for this little rascal?
