fund wants to invest in a market-neutral long/short strategy on the French stock market. It
has a capital of €25 million for this purpose. However, it would like to retain a cash cushion
of €1 million for unforeseen events. The hedge fund can borrow shares from a primary
broker with a cash margin deposit equal to 20 percent of the value of the shares. No
additional costs are charged to borrow the shares.[/center]

Outline the appropriate strategy for the hedge fund. (5 steps only)

Step 1. Deposit €1 million into Fixed Deposit.

We came up with 2 possible solutions:

SOLUTION 1

1. Prepare cash cushion in bank with highest interest rate of €1 million.
2. Open margin account, depositing €4 million, resulting in total funds available for borrowing shares to be €20 million (4 * 5).
3. Begin short selling €20 million worth of underperforming stocks, borrowing them from the broker and selling them.
4. Get into long position on €20 million worth of outperforming stocks using remaining funds.
5. At end of year, close short sales by returning borrowed stocks (which have fallen in price), and sell long positions (which have increased in price).

SOLUTION 2

1. Prepare cash cushion in bank with highest interest rate of €1 million.
2. Open margin account, deposit entire €24 million (20% of total shares borrowed), resulting in total borrowing shares to be €120 million (100%).
3. Short sell the €120 million worth of underperforming stocks, borrowing them from the broker and selling them.
4. With the €120 million cash from short position, get into a long position on outperforming stocks.
5. At end of year, close short sales by returning borrowed stocks (which have fallen in price), and sell long positions (which have increased in price).

We need a finance pro here! Which are the possible solutions? We've been thinking so hard yet we still can't figure it out PLEASE HELP!

Dining in the Dark

Anybody tried Dining in the Dark @ Changkat before? How is it? I heard it cost around RM130 per pax. So pricey but many says it's not about the food but the experience. Is it really worth a try? I'm quite a picky and choosy eater so I'm afraid they might serve me food that I don't fancy lol.

Also, would like to ask, it is 100% pitch black right? How are we gonna know where's our plate and our food? Or we just hantam only poke whatever is in front of us and shove it into our mouths

By the way, it is now on Groupon deal. It's half price now so I'm considering whether or not to give it a try. Hehe.

Dogs with Sensitive Skin

Hi guys. Would like to get some advice from people who knows more/have more experience with dogs with sensitive skin.

I own a mongrel. He is about 1 yr 8 mths now. He has really sensitive skin, but not on his whole body, only at the part near his hind legs. He would always bite and scratch himself non-stop till there's a hairless patch now. I'd once consulted the vet, all he told me was it's probably because my dog is sensitive to the detergent I use to wash my floor (that's why the only itchy part is near the hind legs & not the whole body) but I honestly don't think that's the cause because my dog lives in the garden compartment and I also have another dog who doesn't seem to have any problem.

I went to consult the person at the petshop instead. He told me it may be due to the food, shampoo or the hot weather. I have all the while been using the same dog shampoo since he was a puppy and it didn't give me any problem so I don't think it's the shampoo. The guy advised me to bath my dog at least twice a week because the weather is extremely hot now. Is it true that the weather may be the cause of my dog's itchiness?

Also, the person in charge at the petshop also told me to change my dog's food. Is it true that it's best to not feed chicken to dogs with sensitive skin? I once heard from others that lamb and fish are good for dogs with sensitive skin. I read that online too. I know that fish helps, but is it true that lamb is also safe to be consumed by dogs with sensitive skin? I do not feed my dogs human food. I used to feed my dog Proplan Salmon, it didn't seem to help. Now I've switched to Eukanuba Salmon with Rice. I'm hoping this would help cure him *fingers crossed*

Any other advice on how to deal with this problem? It's heart breaking to see him scratching himself like that all the time!
