Commentary:

Sonically, these are very open sounding, crisp clear and very sweet mids, like a 20 dollar bottle of San Pellegrino mineral water.

With the right fit (and fit is very objective) bass is equally as good, with some tracks you can clearly 'feel' the bass reverberate and not just hear it.

Highs are great too, without ever sounding sibilant.

All in all, very very good sounding IEM with one caveat, its hard to find a good seal for the bass, esp with my small ears....

Commentary:

Sleek Audio is a company with quite a topsy-turvy history. Started out strong with the SA6, and their CIEM series. Then came the SA1 which looked DAMN CLASS but doesn't quite sound right. Their KLEER wireless transmission was apparently excellent and pairs really well with their product. Just when we thought Sleek would become one of the fastest growing audio company out there, they had some big problem with their contract with 50Cent and end up falling out of the radar. Their SA7 launch was delayed for 2 years now...

SA6 remains quite a good earphone. They use a single BA but the SQ of this BA is quite remarkable. Compared favorably to other single BAs out there like the Phonak's and Westone UM1s. The only single BA IEMs that can match or better the SA6 would be the stuff from Final Audio, with their balanced air movement tech.

The VQ tuning system works. But not by very much. The change is very very minor. But all in all, SA6 is an incredibly smooth sounding IEM. Excellent, exquisite mids, clear treble without excessive extension, and bass thats crisp and clear, but neutral at best.

The comfort of these are EXCELLENT. I can't quite show how small these IEMs are, and they disappear once I wear them. The styling looks damn boss, especially when in full corporate gear or smart button-down shirts.

One caveat though, the stupid replaceable filters are quite loosely designed, so sometimes when I remove the IEMs, the eartip + nozzle stays stuck in my ears. Not a problem though, just annoying.

Commentary:

Back in the days. Was it 1996? I think it was '96. Or '98. When the only big name IEM in the market was Etymotic's ER4. FutureSonics came up with the EM3 to match Etymotic's new ER6i earphone and Shure's ancient E2C earphone lineup. These three were very very interesting in a sense that one can actually own all 3 and not feel like they need to get rid of any. The E2C heralded the Shure's mid centric tuning. ER6i was the only BA earphone amongst these and feature better treble extension and detail. But the EM3.. owh dear.. the EM3 created soundspace and ambiance like no other. And took bass to a whole new planet.

Made for stage monitoring, FutureSonics spent ZERO time on aesthetics and focused all their efforts on sound and isolation. What we get then is an extremely FUGLY piece of an IEM that actually blocks out quite alot of sound with its deep insertion nozzle. And the sound that will put the 'cutting edge tech' of Beats By Dre products to absolute shame. Even if these are 20 year old tech.

Futuresonics then came up with their MG5 and MG7 variety (which sounds quite similar to the EM3).

Commentary:

I was a huge fan of the Thinksound TS02. They were my first 'real' IEMs. And the bass and timbre shocked me. But after awhile, I got bored of the V-Shaped sound.

In comes the MS01. With the Monitor Series moniker. Thinksound is back at it again! More beautiful than ever!! these looks.. soo good, pictures from my crappy camera cannot express how good they look.

How do they sound? Mature. These are excellent for the mature working-class men and women. Bass is there, slightly above neutral. Mids are lovely with excellent timbre. Highs are there, extended to almost the last frequency. Thinksound has made something less V-Shaped, less bombastic yet still very toe-tappingly enjoyable. Great for all music types. Second best wood IEM I've ever had. Only bested by the HA-FX700

Though they're the 'Monitor series' I must say they're not monitor-like neutral. Perhaps they are referring to hi-fi monitor speakers. Yes that would make more sense.

Commentary:

This is it.

Saying goodbye to my favourite earphone of all time. I've kept these longer than my next favourite, the VSonic GR07. In fact, I've used the UM2 more than I use my HeirAudio 8.A. Mind you, the 8.A cost me almost RM4000. And guess what? I've sold my 8.As after a year of using them. I CBF with their sound signature. The UM2 however, I've used, sold off, BOUGHT another set. And kept on using them till now.

With my recent acquisition of the Earsonics SM64. I think it's time to let the UM2 go ... for now...

The UM2 is as perfect IMHO as they come. Very comfortable to wear, even to sleep. Good mids, good highs, excellent bass. Decent soundstage. Good detail. A plus would be the EXCELLENT sound isolation, better than most noise cancelling headphones or even custom IEMs. I can assure you they block more sound than CIEMs. Only Etymotic ER4s blocks more. Build quality is simple and no nonsense. Built to last forever, and with added abuse from stage monitoring.

I want the next owner to be a fan of music. One who enjoys music and takes good care of their gear.

PS: For those of you who kept asking for comparisons with the Hippo Pro One. With all due respect, the Pro One is great, nozzle mounted single BA earphone. But these are made to compete with the Westone 1s and Westone UM1s and MEElectronic A151s and Feels Pro 900. The UM2 FAR FAR FAR outclasses the Pro One. Like comparing a good netbook with a real laptop.

Commentary:
This is a strange looking, rather huge piece of an earphone. The orientation reminds me of Sony's EX700/EX300 series. And also abit like their EX600 and EX1000 as well. Even if the shape is awkward the fit isn't. At least not for me.

The sound however, blew me away from the first few seconds. And still blows me away. This is one of the best IEM's money can buy for about USD100. Which is about RM400 give or take, due to shipping.

Music is spacious.. bass is rocking. Detail is not the best, but trust me you won't be bothered. Why?? Spider RealVoice is tuned to reproduce excellent vocals and it lives up to expectations. Mids, especially human vocals are lively. Hard to explain. Gotta have a listen to them yourselves.

The added 3 button controls are just an extra bonus.

Pretty decent IEM for the price. The carbon nanotubes were impressive on the FXD80, and continues to impress for the price here. They do sound unlike each other at all. While the FXD80 was bassy and bombastic, the FXD70 is more neutral with more emphasis on detail. Kinda like the 'etymotic' house sound, fast, detailed but slightly dry.

Takes awhile before the sound signature gets in the head but once they do, wonderful things happen

Commentary:

Got this guy as part of a trade. But my god this is one beauty of an amp. Beastly beauty. The construct is absolutely rock solid, and feels great, looks great too. This is by far the most impressive amp I've ever held onto. Incredible product from ALO. When you hold it in your hands, you'll understand.

How do they sound? Powerful, boisterous & warm. In comparison, my ALO RX MKII sounds lean and slightly dull. ALO designed this to be the solid state version of the Continental, which means they sound abit analog, tube-ish and old school. Too bad the ergonomics doesn't fit well with my CLAS stack, and they're rather thick. Great for a standalone amp for a portable/transportable system.

They have gobs of power, and are not afraid to show it. HE-500s are powered to safe listening levels at 11 o'clock on the vol pot (7 o'clock is 0 power).

Only downside is that this amp hisses slightly with more sensitive IEMs and headphones. The hiss is barely there during music playback but is audible on most BA IEMs or portable/high efficiency headphones when music isn't playing.

Commentary/Review:

I'm gonna tempt your ang pow money away!!

These are one of the most beautiful on-ear headphones ever made. The Echizen Urushi makes the dark cherry wood grains of the cups appear somewhat 3D. Comfort is somehow a little better than the ESW9, but isolation remains a weakness. It does not isolate as much as say the B&W P5, HD25-I-II or DT1350.

Soundwise, they obliterate their cousin, the ESW9 and the ES10. The ES10s are edgy and cool sounding, while the ESW9s are warm, but albeit a little bloated. The ESW10Jpn has a very mid-centric sound, with absolutely gorgeous mids, airy highs and bass that is deeper than the ESW9 (about the same as ES10). Due to their weak isolation, in noisy environments they won't sound that great, but when listening at a nice quiet park, beach or room, they are stunning. Absolutely stunning. I recently compared these side by side with an ESW9 and really, I was expecting the comparison to be closer, but no, they're alot better. ESW9's are a little boomier and muddier in the bass, the mids are not even close, and the treble is less airy and detailed. They are bested however, by my Edition 8, which has a touch more clarity, detail and tighter bass. They're still the king of mids however.

They have been my favourite portable (transportable) set for many years now until recently where my more expensive Heir8.A CIEM and Ultrasone Edition 8LE became my staple. Still, from time to time, when I want an airy, very beautiful mid-centric headphone for vocals, I'd use the 10Jpn.

From time to time, I buff and clean them with the same high quality leather conditioner used for my Edition 8.

They're always kept in a case or on my headphone stand in a clean, non-smoking environment. I NEVER wear them when I've got hair gel or hair clay on.

I would expect the next owner to treat/love them just as well as I have. These are NOT the kinda headphones you wear to clubs or the gym or a late night meeting at your local mamak.

The right earcup have several scuffs unfortunately, due to irresponsible handling during a TT last year in Melbourne. I have not brought them out ever since. The scuffs will be obvious when viewed from an agle.

[SOLD]JVC HA-FX700

Commentary:

There was a time where JVC bossed around the portable audio scene, and their flagship IEM is the kingly FX700. Made of beautifully grained wood, they ruled atop the IEM food chain, alongside the Shure SE530, the Triple.Fi10 and Sennheiser IE8. And of that bunch of top tier IEMs, the FX-700 remains unchanged, and is still touted as the king of dynamic driver IEMs (though Sony's EX1000 has since taken the title IMHO).

The FX700s are not only the most beautiful 'woody' IEMs ever made, but they're also one of the only true 'open backed' earphone. This sacrifices isolation for soundstage which I feel is the broadest of any IEM I've ever heard. Along with the wide as hell soundstage is an edgy, fast and exciting (albeit U-Shaped) sound signature. The treble shimmers and extends almost as well as the TF.10s. The bass goes deep, goes hard and powerful. The mids are slightly recessed but still reproduces vocals well. The timbre is second to none. Guitar strums, acoustic pluckings all sound very very real.

These are a true, top tier dynamic IEM and I sincerely hope that the future owner of this IEM handles them with care the way they deserve. If it wasn't for my Custom IEM, as well as my need for extra cash I would have kept these as part of my 'collection'.

Commentary:
Not much is needed to be said, these are a legend. The most typical of Jerry Harvey tuning. Treble that extends to forever. Bass that blows you over with power and speed.

Fit and comfort is very very subjective. And they look strange on your ears. Mine is the older set with glossy cable.

Just clearing up some cash to.. well BUY NEW audio gear!!

Commentary:
This is a very rare, long discontinued pair of IEMs made using cubic zirconia back in the days when Panasonic was still manufacturing in Japan and were very serious about audio.

Cubic zirconia is rather dense and is almost as scratchproof as sapphire. These are a beauty though very hard to capture in pictures. You've gotta hold them in your hands to feel the weight, the gloss and the finish.

Soundwise, they're bassy!! I'd say they're very very similar to Monster's Turbine Pro Gold IEM. Smooth, liquid sound. Bass very indulgent and powerful albeit slightly flabby. Definitely bass tilted, one of the bassier IEMs I've tried.

edit: Unfortunately, these are rather old and I can't find the original tips for them. I've also been rather generous with giving tips to my friends or on recent other sales, as such I've run out of tips to provide for these. They're standard however, works well with UE, Most comply tips, and my favourite Sony Hybirds and Monster tips.

Excellent condition. Cable has frayed, but new cable is almost brand new. IEM itself is pristine. Cubic Zirconia is very much scratchproof and it shows. Even after about 2 years, these IEMs are looking like new.
