Neighbours Dog

My very irresponsible neighbour will let free his dog in the late evening every day with the sole intention of letting the dog to defecate. But the f… dog will conveniently does his business on the tiled floor in front of my gate. This happened so many times in the past two weeks. I have lost my patience and wonder is there any polite way to confront my neighbour.
Actually the dog is quite friendly to us.
Last look

I just received a call from my father telling me that his eye sight is deteriorating rapidly since Chinese New Year. My father already aged 93 and physically he is still relatively fit other than having hearing difficulty.
He told me that now he really missed his morning kopi session and the afternoon Mahjong session. He sounded melancholy and in despair. In the past years he had visited quite a number of eye specialists and was told that operation was of no guarantee of restoring his eyesight due to his age. He was prescribed eye drop to mitigate the irritation and hoping that the rate of deterioration would be curtailed.
So now he is asking me to gather all my siblings together with their respective family members to meet him and let him have a last good look at all of them in case his sight really failed him. It is not a difficult task for me to organise the gathering but it is the agony that you know someone may lose his sight and you are just helpless. I am really in dilemma and just cannot bear to be present in such a situation. In fact I have not conveyed the news to all my siblings yet. Rest assure that I will fulfil my father’s wish. But currently I am emotionally not ready to organise the gathering perhaps I shall seek the help of my uncle. Oh God I am in distress.
Dereliction of responsibilities

During the one of the CNY dinner sessions, I have observed that things like relationship are so superficial. Hypocrisy, greed and jealousy had surpassed noble human values.
One of my aunties has been put into a community charitable old folk’s home (Mind you not the nursing) b y her sons and daughters. Whereas the elder son is living in a posh bungalow and the other son is living in a single storey terrace house. Her daughter is married to a foreigner.
Another uncle was coerced by his son to dispose of his only house in Subang Jaya to pay off the son’s debts. So the couple had to resolve to renting a flat. Worse the uncle was not very healthy and he needs a lot of medical attention. Member of the extended families had been quite benevolent and chipped in to pay for his medical bills.
The elder auntie aged over 80 and an acute diabetic. She had accumulated quite a bit of wealth in the past. For the past few years she began to partially distribute her wealth to her two sons and a daughter. However her avaricious elder son felt that the distribution was not fair and instead try to coax his mother to give him more. Of course the old lady declined his appeal and from then on the elder just derelict the mother. For years he did not pay her a visit.
Very disheartening right?
Eggs with Double Yokes

Recently my Mum bought some eggs from the wet market.

To our surprise when we broke our half boiled eggs during breakfast,we discovered that all our eggs (total 6 eggs) all had double yokes.

I was wondering that whether something to do with the manipulation of the genes of the chicken so they could produce eggs that were bigger and contain double yokes.

Celebrating CNY Away From Home

Quite a number of families in my family circle had confirmed that they will be away on holiday during CNY beginning from New Year Eve/First Day until the Sixth or Seventh day. I am thinking that they have deliberately planned their holiday to coincide with CNY so that they can circumvent the Any Pow giving tradition. What prompted me to have this thought is that one of the children has inadvertently revealed to us that their dad has deliberately planned the holiday so that he does not have to give Any Pow during CNY and the money saved can cover part of their Holiday expenses.
So looks like materialism has overwhelmed custom and tradition.
How long can the customary practices and tradition remain relevance?
Roof Leak

I am facing with a roof leak problem.
I had renovated my house two years ago and had completely redone the roof. The new roof came with a layer of Aluminium insulator (which is waterproof).
Last week when it rained I discovered that there was water dripping from the ceiling (which is quite near to the roof eaves) in my son’s room. The agony now is that when climbed up to the ceiling to check for the spot which it leaked, I could not do it. The reason being the whole internal side of the roof was covered with the Aluminium Foil. From what I had analaysed the actual spot of leaking may not be the spot where the water dripped.
Really need some sifu’s advice regarding how to go about it or any good and experience roof
repairer to recommend.
Thanks.
Something of which is a rarity nowadays with the shrinking family unit.
Do you know of anyone who has elder brother/s, elder sister/s, younger brother/s and younger
sister/s. To me, I could not find anyone who has such a complete pack of siblings among my
relatives and friends.
Different Class of Love.

Last weekend my wife visited her aunt in a nursing home. She felt very sorry for her and empathy her for being left alone by her sons and daughter. She said she felt very enigmatic because her aunt had opted to be put at the home instead of living with her elder son. The reason was because her son’s and daughter-in-law’s attitude towards her were apathetic. In contradictory her daughter was more loving and took good care of her and the old lady could only enjoy a short reprieve whenever she visited her. But unfortunately she is married to a foreigner and lives abroad.

On the other hand the old lady’s grandson was sent to an international school and chauffeur driven to and fro school daily. Beside good food and well furnished lodging, the grandson was enjoying all the luxuries like annual oversea tour and all the latest electronic gadgets.

It is rather paradoxical to see the disparity in love extended to your love one, one being your mother and the other your son.
Can someone enlighten me please!

I am planning to renovate my 22' x 100' Double Storey Terrace House in K.L. Extending the front wall by 4 feet and change of the facade e.g with aluminum windows, sliding doors and main entrance door.

2. Extending the car porch with R.C slap by 10 feet.

3. Change of Roof tiles, flooring, ceiling, piping, and electrical wiring

4. Shifting of the 2nd bathroom on the first door.

5. Roof covering around 8'x 12' for the wet kitchen.

Is the renovation stated above considered as major/minor renovation?

Secondly how do I go about to apply for the renovation permit from DBKL?

Can someone help me or recommend me some professional who can handle this.

Thank you very much.
Deadly Encounter

Yesterday after work I went for my regular twice weekly jog. After completed almost half of the distance the sky turned cloudy and thuder strom seemed imminent. Considering that there was still a distance of around 3 km before I could reach home, I deccided to take a detour. A short cut that would reduce the distance by half. Taking this detour i would have to rum along a moonsoon drain the runs under the pylon power line.
I continue my run quite oblivious to the surrounding because I was in the rush to reach home. Then suddenly I felt something was slithering on the right in front of me. When I was side by side with the object then I realised that it was a snake. By then the snake was only abount less than three feet beside me and it had already raised its head in the air. From the expanded head and the two white rings conspiously displayed I recognise it to be a king cobra. Damn I told myself I was in trouble but luckily i remained calm and instantly took a sway to left and dashed pass the cobra. Immediately after I had passed my foe i looked back and to my consternation it was about two mwters long. It was slithering in the opposite direction and going down the drain.
I did not stop aand did not feel anything at that moment. Only when I had reached home and relating the happening to my my familly then only I realised that how deadly the encounter could turn out to be. I dread to thiink of the consequences should the cobra had attacked/bitten me.

Any one out there have any similar encounter to share.

How Long Can I Tahan…

My mother aged 82 infirmed and bedridden is under my care. Fortunately I have a very reliable and obliging maid and a very loyal wife to help out. I have 4 siblings who would drop by in the afternoon to relieve us and at the same time to assist my maid in sponging, feeding and dressing her bed sore during weekday when my wife and I are working.
It is a tough and depressing daily chore for us. The day begins with cleaning, rinsing and powdering her body before changing her diaper. Breakfast for her will be milk with milo, and follow by giving her grinded medicine mixed with water. At time when she has soiled her diaper or there was a leakage and she has wet her bed, then we have to get up much early to complete the chore so that we can leave for our offices in time.
The process of feeding her changing of diaper will be repeated in the afternoon when we reached home after work. For the rest of the day we will at the standby mood in case if she has messed up herself.
Nighttime we have to be vigilante and keep checking on her every two to three hourly to give her water.
Saturday and Sunday are no rest days for us. Our lives are basically evolving around her bedroom and we do not have time for ourselves. Luckily my family members are very understanding and supportive. They give me physical as well as moral support. That is where I get the strength to continue but I wonder how long more can I hold…………………..? Depress…….. Despair…………demoralize……….
It has been more that 3 years that we are in this predicament/dilemma. All this time we have been doing it patiently and conscientiously. I hold steadfast to the fact that is the duty of a son to care for his aged mother.
Being a filial son is no easy. To have a understanding wife is a blessing. To have a reliable and obliging maid is mu luck/kamma.
