Hi,

I was wondering what is the average kWh per day everyone is using.

I am trying to isolate what is making mine so high and I am perplexed.

On average, mine is 20-23 kWh per day which rounds up to roughly 600-650kWh per month.

What I normally have in my home,

Gaming PC w/ 2 monitors - 15-16 hours
Fridge
Air con(non-inverter)(only night at 9.30pm-4am at 25-26C) - 6 and a half hours
Water filter(cooler and heater) - Cooler 16 hours and heater only when needed
Laptop w/ charger - 8 hours
Handphone charger - 2 hours
6-7 table fans - 10 hours

I am recently trying to track daily usage. Yesterday it was just 9kWh use and today as of this writing, 23kWh and this is before the aircon. I am not sure if the smart reader if malfunctioning but I would like an estimate on average kWh from similar usage before I proceed to make a case.
Or is my usage just 20-23kWh worth?

I know that it is more accurate to get a reading apparatus and track per appliance but I would like estimates from others before I go around buying anything.

How should I upgrade my build?

My current build: Processor:
Intel Core i7 3770@ 3.4Ghz
Motherboard: P8Z77-M
RAM: DDR3 8GB
Graphics Card: GTX 980Ti
Monitor: Just a simple Samsung computer monitor

I am using this rig primarily for gaming. I am looking for high-very high(as long as it looks good enough, willing to turn down settings to maintain a good framerate, I am NOT looking for photorealistic) settings most of the time at 1920x1080 resolution at 60fps.

My budget is around MYR 5,000.

Personally, I plan to replace my motherboard and processor and maybe the monitor along with the RAM, but I am not too knowledgeable in the know-how of which to upgrade or whether some of the parts I have is good enough for the purpose I've stated. So, I defer to the PC gurus of this forum

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Edit: Also planning to get a SSD. Any good recommendations?

Hello fellow lowyat forummers,

Since the EU timecards are sold out everywhere I can look for in Malaysia, I've decided to directly buy it for SE.

The question being, I am charged in Euros rather than GBP. Euros, being the more expensive option of the two.

Is there any way I can choose to be charged in GBP instead?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Need help with routers!

Hello fellow LYN forummers,

I am currently using Unifi 30mbps and I am getting the free upgrade to 50mbps some time down the line. I am still using the white router(D-Link Dir-615) given by TM till now but I think it is starting to die on me. Wifi coverage is also pretty poor, signal strength cuts down to less than optimal when using it in my room and I live in a flat, with the router being in the living room.

I am a huge gamer, which means ping and latency is probably #1 for me. My family also streams extensively for their entertainment needs, so laptops, tablets and phones.

My question, is it worth getting a new router or just get TM to replace one for me? I am eyeing the ASUS RT-AC68U, personally. Will it have any tangible benefits getting the ASUS over say, getting a replacement from TM?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Also, I am not the tech-savviest guy so if you can explain explain in a nice and understandable manner to the layman, I will be incredibly grateful.

Thanks again

Latency issues?

Hi fellow Lowyat forummers,

Are any of you experiencing any latency issues with GW2 as of 4th February 2016?
I could login fine for like a minute before the latency jumps straight to 4000ms and subsequently disconnecting.
I was wondering if it was our Malaysian internet or ANet that is screwy.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Lul, looks like I am still stuck in 2016. 4th February 2017.

The woes of a fresh graduate(sorta).

At the time of writing this, I've just finished my last paper for ACCA. Like literally, it was 2 hours ago. But that is not the issue here, it has just dawned on me that I am finally done with a major part of my life. Well, at least my academic life anyway.

I am honestly lost on how to proceed from here on out. As a fresh graduate(well, if I pass this coming February), I am obviously without any experience and without any knowledge of the job market or even what I want to work as. Of course, the college, in this case, Sunway did heavily promote going into Audit for all of its ACCA students but I am not too keen.

I am not too sure about what my ACCA qualification can get me. I did consider Banking and have read up about it, but there are a lot of departments and I am worried that I won't be working in one that is irrelevant(sales, maybe) for my mandatory 36 months practical experience requirements to be an official ACCA member. If anyone here is an ACCA member or someone who has gone through something similar, please do enlighten me.

Also, since I am already asking, what are the chances of a fresh graduate like myself landing a job overseas, say Singapore for example? What are the hurdles of getting employment overseas?

And of course, the CV that I will have to write. Gosh, I can barely begin to fathom what I am reading online about the optimal/high quality/best CV because honestly, there isn't much I can write about other than my personal details and my qualifications, namely ACCA and previously CAT. I am a rather passive fellow, and activities are, not surprisingly, close to none. It would be GREATLY appreciated if someone can give me some pointers.

I would like to thank any kind soul who would dedicate their time to helping or heck, even just reading this. The last time I felt this lost was choosing the course that I would like to pursue and boy, way easier in hindsight.

Questions.

It is just a simple question on how to amass gold to get to higher tier badass armour sets and badass looking weapons? I am fast approaching lvl 80(currently lvl 74) and I only have like 5g sitting in my main and I am just confuzzled on where to even begin with getting armours or weapons. Oh btw, I am playing a warrior, if that is any help whatsoever.

Also, dungeon running. I've heard that it is horrendously difficult with no teamwork, so another question. Since teamwork is a must, does the level of gear factor into it as well? Do I need like pimped up weapons and armours to complete(survive... ahem) the dungeon?

Thanks for taking the time and reading this as well as clearing my doubts

A question.

I am curious as to whether Guild Wars 2 would have any possible latency issues when playing from Malaysia. My friend and I are planning on getting this but we probably don't want to jump on another game like we did with Diablo 3(sigh). If it is any help(?) I am using the VIP5 bundle from Unifi and if it is possible to play at a comfortable ping?

Also, at what number of ping would we get and would the delay be unbearable, if there is any at all?

Thanks for the help guys, this is the only issue we are currently facing and your help will be greatly appreciated ^^
