Hi guys... i created this topic just to inform u guys the problem i had with these modems after upgrading to Streamyx 4MB....

For the past year i had been using my 2MB line with the TP-Link TD-8960N Modem Router with 300mbps Wireless-N.. upgraded the 2 antennas to bigger ones and the performance was superb! However, certain parts of my house still could not get the WiFi signal so I installed a TP-Link TL-WA830RE Range Extender.. This product works wonders.. Now my whole house has full bar wireless... Contant stable connections, no WiFi drops, no restarts, stable streamyx connection...

The problem started when i upgraded my line to 4MB... after a few days i was already experiencing streamyx disconnections and restarts... i thought it was the bad weather... so i just ignored it and it went back to normal.. but i still had disconnections and "time outs"...

I then decided to test with the supplied modem from TM (D-Link)... tested over the weekend, no connection drops or restart.. only problem i had is that i can't connect my iPhone to the wireless... another thing is that this modem is on Wireless-G, so range is smaller..

The next day, I went back to the shop and they gladly exchange it (TP-Link has 1-to-1 exchange warranty program, valid for 2 years)... i was given the newer TD-W8961ND instead...

after going through all the setup, everything went fine, for a week or so... then the problem started again, constant disconnections and restart.... this only happens after heavy rains... after that, my modem would go crazy... not the same with the D-Link, steady in all weather... i thought it was weird that this is happening... so i tried to fiddle around with the settings.... mind that, i never had this problem at all with my 2MB line...

it turns out that Streamyx 4MB uses ADSL2+ connection with Annex-A (correct me if i'm wrong)... the older 2MB only uses ADSL2... so, this is what i did...

this is the 'default' setting in "Advance Setup -> ADSL"

from "Auto-Sync" which i guess auto switches from ADSL2 to ADSL2+, i switched permanently to ADSL2+, unchecked the "Bitswap" and "SRA" as well...

so the status should look something like this...

now, i no longer face the disconnection problems with my 4MB line using the TP-Link modem... smooth sailing, even in heavy, heavy rain... one thing is that, it takes longer for the modem to connect to Streamyx with ADSL2+ (more than a minute) compared to "Auto-Sync" which only took a few seconds... but it's worth the wait...

p/s: just to add.... the TP-Link TD-W8961ND is indeed newer than the TD-W8960N, but it does not mean that it is better... the TD8960N has more features... read here : http://www.wireless-router-net.com/tp-link...-wireless-modem

Morning /k/.. Juz now on my way to work i accidentally scrape a car.. His car got some scratches, mine got dent and scratches which actually looks worse..

Now, we already settled and i agreed to pay for the damages... But he will send the car to his workshop and send me the bill.. The thing is, he's a lawyer.. And driving a Merc S350, the new one... I'm scared that he might overcharge me or something..

Btw, he was parking in a "No Parking" zone.. I was trying to get through the tight space as there was on coming car as well... Technically, it was my fault for hitting his car, but he was parking his car illegally..

Pics of my car will upload soon.. Just now was really rushing cos the road jam like crazy, forgot to take pics of his car..

I'm willing to pay for the damages on his car, but if he overcharges me, i won't.. So, any advice my dear /k/...?

hi all.. i need some help and advice from all the audio gurus regarding my setup..

currently, i have a PS3 connected via HDMI cable to my LCD TV.. and the audio is sent out via audio out on my LCD using RCA to my 5.1 speakers.. currently, i'm listening to a fake 5.1 setup..

as my 5.1 speakers only accepts 2-channel RCA inputs (red/white) and multiple channel input.. what i would like to do is find a cheap decoder of some sort which decodes the audio from my PS3 connected using optical cable, then decodes them into separate output channels (FR, FL, RR, RL, CR & Sub).. it doesn't have to be a Dolby or THX decoder as the PS3 sends out decoded audio already..

any help is much appreciated.. thank you..

PROBLEMS WITH VISTA?

It repeats for 4-5 times, until no new unknown device appear in Device Manager.

Then I run WMDC, connect my THD, the WMDC remains "not connected". MicroSD card finally appear under My Computer. Since my default setting for "USB to PC" is Disk Drive, the last driver (aka Touch HD) was not installed. The final step is to change to "ActiveSync" and enable the "Enable faster data synchronization". After that, the "Found New Hardware" appear, and installed THD driver. (Can see under Device Manager->Portable Device->Touch HD ).

Just my experience, in case others encounter similar problem, hope this will helps. Took me one whole day to search and troubleshoot (seems like no one encounter such problem. Almost had me to download endless Vista hotfix )

32" Phillips 32PFL5203 LCD TV as PC Monitor

hi guys.. i've juz purchased a 32" Phillips 32PFL5203 LCD TV which has a native resolution of 1366x768.. the same as my sony and samsung.. however, i can't get a clear picture while using it's native res at 1366x768 @ 60Hz.. it becomes warped.. i can only select 1360x768 which only makes it slightly better..

using asus eah3870 over dvi-hdmi converter..

anyway i could get it to be sharp by using it's native res?

Weird Reboots

I need a little help. Recently, there was some sort of a glitch with my video card (EAH3870) and the ratings for 3DMark were off. So i reinstalled the drivers. Now, theres a weirder problem. First, any sort of access to the card settings would cause an instant reboot soon as i clicked apply. This included changing the desktop resolution. I redownloaded drivers from asus (vendor for the vid card) and reinstalled. It fixed the resolution glitch, but theres still another couple of glitches. I can run Steam Counterstrike 1.6 (its using OpenGL) but the frame rate is low, maxing out at 70. I checked the fps cap setting and its correct. Secondly, any games requiring D3D will cause an instant reboot upon launching of the game. Warcraft III is prime example. Soon as the screen switches over to load into warcraft, the system just reboots. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it? thanks.

hi to all sifus.. is there a way to jailbreak a locked iPod Touch 1.1.3 using windows without downgrading to 1.1.1? cos jailbreakme.com requires 1.1.1 and most downgrading process requires a Mac with Leopard installed, which i do not own..

first of all, to all in LYN..

i'm not here to con anybody.. especially austin.. i was very interested in his proc, as u can read from his pm history.. but, after receiving his pics for the proc, i had doubts.. he only showed u guyz 1 pic (the stepping for the proc) whereas in the msg he sent me he had others, some benchies if i'm not mistaken.. the proc speed on the benchy was 2.4GHz.. the speed i was looking for (3400+ 2.4GHz)..

on the other hand, the pic for the stepping was not that clear so i had to enhance it myself and google it.. it turned out that the actual speed for the proc is 2.2GHz and not 2.4GHz as stated on his benchy (it was a mobile DTR Athlon64 3400+, 2.2GHz, 1MB L2 Cache).. he didn't say that it was OCed, juz it was a DTR chip.. what if i didn't google his steppings? why is his proc steppings so blurred?

well, i decided to buy the proc from him anyway despite the pros and cons.. i had to ask him whether he agrees with the condition or not, and he said ok.. the reason i wanted to pay RM50 as a deposit first is to show that i was sincere in dealing with him and for him to hold the proc for me (cos his proc is not that easy to find).. i'll settle the payment with him by COD within this month..

i'm sure many of u guyz here are or were students before.. sometimes, the unexpected happens where u need to spend the money u saved for something else rather than the one u had ur heart on.. like what happened to me.. i don't go begging from my parents like some ppl do, they've done enough for me..

it's true that i opened the thread, but i did not have the intention to waste the LYN's resources or to con anybody..

and i did not go away for a week.. mods, plz rectify this.. i juz had some probs with my streamyx.. and the reason that i waited to bank in the RM50 is bcos of ur attitude.. dude, if u wanna sell ur stuff, u gotta lighten up.. i know that u've had lots of trades in LYN and the status of Senior Member, but maybe i'm the only one who had the guts to say those words to u..

i also did some trades here.. bought some HPs as stated from Jimmy77 (Jimmy1977 now..), sold my Nokia 6630 to a LYN member, bought some comp stuff from Moderno, soundcard and other stuffs.. i also bought my N90 from a LYN member..

bro, u need to respect others in order for u to gain respect from others.. respect can't be bought by money or shown by status..

if i offended u (Austin) or anybody in LYN, i apologize.. i hope this stops here.. i don't wanna cause anymore disputes here in LYN between forum users..

lastly, i juz wanna make it clear that this phrase i said, "u don't know what'll happen to u in the future" actually means that u might have money now and ur enjoying ur life, who knows what will happen to u in the future.. god works in mysterious ways.. i wasn't "THREATENING" him at all.. and RM350 is not a small amount for me..
