Hi people,

Im having some problem with my linksys router. Ill try and make it the explanation as simple as possible.

December 2008 - Bought the router. Followed all instructions carefully. The router was working great. Fast dl speed etc. Basically I am quite impressed with the router.

February 2009 - The connection just dropped. I thought i was just the occasional connection drop, so i restarted everything, hoping that it would be OK. But this time, it doesn't connect to the internet(LAN is working fine). Tried everything that i know of but still can't figure out what the problem is. I clicked on CONNECT at the status page of the router and after refreshing by itself several times, it prompts me with message saying that it could no establish PPPOE server. I figured that the router must be conflicting with some other IP address.

So i called linksys customer care. The agent asked me to do all the standard procedure and that did not work out. So he pointed out another solution to the problem.

SOLUTION - The agent changed the IP address and made me connect through Automatic Configuration - DCHP (not using the PPPOE protocol like usual where we have to enter username and password) and it works. I am connected to the internet once more and everything went fine.

Feb to Apr 09 - The connection keeps on disconnecting to the point that i have to restart my modem everytime it got disconnected. I called them once again yesterday and after 1 1/2 hrs of talking, they could not provide me with a solution. All they did was asked me to update the firmware which i already did.

Any of gurus and sifus here know how to correct this problem? If you guys have any other questions to ask please kindly do. Ill try to make the explanation as simple as possible as this problem is complicated to me.
