[WTA] Razer Core X Warranty

Hi everyone, I have a quick question.

I have a Razer Core X that I purchased in Hong Kong when I was living there. Anyway, I returned to Malaysia and I'm facing some issues with the hardware where it automatically switches off after a few seconds - with or without my RTX 3090 in it. I want to RMA it by entering the serial no. on the website but the product box is mangled with duct tape due to travel and I'm not sure where to find the serial no. for the product on it. I've called Razer's office in KL and they have no idea as well and they also have no clue how to RMA a Razer product that wasn't purchased from an official distributor in Malaysia. I tried looking inside the casing, on the board, other than the S/N of the PSU, I cant see other serial number.

Help?!

Using it as part of eGPU setup.

Picture:
Please see my carousel HK posting here

Reason for sale:
I'm getting the 3090 or the 6900XT and upgrading my eGPU enclosure also

Please be mindful that I'll be shipping this from Hong Kong. I've been in the business of selling stuff from overseas and have done many deals on LYN that require shipping here and there so this isn't unusual.

[WTA] Windows 10

hi guys

my pirate windows 7 is now turned into a free windows 10 pro
it looks sleek and definitely a lot faster
however, the OS is currently in my 2tb Western Digital HDD
i have a kingston HyperX 3K SSD which is empty

i felt that microsoft should have allowed us to choose where to install windows 10 but alas it did not.
now my question is:-

with my r290x and 12gb DDR3, i'm sure a lot of games will run fast on high settings. however, i would like to know if it makes sense to install games on SSD. I have done my research and some people saw open world games would benefit whereas normal games would not. some say that games on SSD and OS on HDD will see bottleneck from the HDD (although i'm not sure how that even makes sense).

what do you guys think? will it make sense to just keep things as it is or install another pirate windows 7 / 8.1 and download upgrade for Windows 10 on my SSD hence rendering the windows in the HDD useless.

i mean, i don't wanna abandon the windows 10 drive as it is a free software which would have cost me USD199. just wanna hear your thoughts.

thanks

hi guys
ive been building pc's and troubleshoot hardware issues for about 10 years
however, this old PC has been running well and ive been changing the TIM for the GPU, CPU etc
but last week the PC wont show any display on my HDTV
i thought my HDMI gave in so i tried using the HDMI wire on my LCD display, still no display
and my PC boots up normally but i dont hear the CPU working as it normally would (during normal situation it would make noise - it's an old pc).

so i took out the pc and placed only my SSD but still no display
i changed the GPU and still no display
used VGA and DVI adapter cable still no display
i have 3gb ram so i replaced each with one stick still no display
the only thing i havent tried is changing motherboard and CPU (both of which I only have one respectively)

one thing that is true is the PC boots up

what do you think is the problem?
somone suggested the CMOS battery may have expired but I have yet to address that

any ideas?

hi forumers and tech gods and gurus,

i left the pc scene for quite a while to focus on work and planning for my wedding etc.
i brought back my pc which i built in the US and it is left collecting dust
the specs are a bit obsolete:-

AMD FX-8350
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
ASUS HD6950 3GB direct cuii
OCZ Z1000
2TB WD Raptor + 3 other HDD

i am planning to change the raptor into my backup HDD (probably do a raid+5 with the other hdd if space allows for it) and install a new SSD as my main drive
thing is i havent been reading a lot about SSD (my last read on PCs was in July 2014)

i was looking around in our good old lowyat and the forum (of course nothing compares to amazon, tigerdirect, etc. like what i used to have in the US) and found that samsung EVO and plextor M6 and liteon seem to be some of the SSDs with good value for money
thing is, i only knew SSD working on SATA connection
it is my first time seeing SSD for PCIE or m.2 pcie etc. etc.

i assume those with the letter "m" is meant for mobile i.e. laptop (although desktop motherboards still bear the msata connector)

what is a good buy for me?
im looking at the 256gb versions and the lite-on 900s and samsung 850EVO seem to go head to head on the IOPS and Seq speeds
also, should i wait for windows 10 or should i install windows 7 or 8.1 in the meantime?

thanks guys for helping
hi brothers and gurus. i have one issue with my sister's laptop. for a networking amateur i felt like the problem is a bit weird hence my posting here.

my sister is using a HP laptop with a built in wifi adapter - archeros ar9845 adapter
anyways, recently it was being slightly berhantu
the laptop can connect to my sister's college connection no problem but at home, the connection for her laptop got wonky
it switches to "no internet access" automatically when everyone else is doing just fine. i know some routers are limited however this happens even when she is the only one at home using the wifi. we are using unifi's default oem router btw. i tried uninstalling and re-installing the built in adapter but to no avail.

what's worse is that right now, her wireless enabler is siwtched on but the wifi icon is saying no connection are available as if the laptop does not have a wifi adapter. as a temporary solution, i installed a wifi dongle from tp-link. for a while it worked but later the same problem persisted - the connection switched to "no internet access" for no reason.

before sending it to HP which may entail payment (laptop's warranty is over), any ideas brothers?

[WTA] Telephone line in-line splitter box

hi guys
recently, my dad's office credit card and insurance card machine and telekom's modem were having connection problems
after calling the electricians and technicians, they found out that the issue was actually the box (circled in red) where the on the one side the telephone line goes in and the other the splitter

i called streamyx to have them fix the connection issue by sending a technician from their side but i was told to settle this myself (this issue is not covered by telekom and they said, verbatim "pihak kami tidak bertanggung jawab dalam hal macam ni. biasanya, pelanggan sendiri kena selesaikan masalah selain masalah internet connection".)

now, im perplexed. the masking tape on the box is due to the cover wasnt intact. this was provided by streamyx techs when they installed the service several years ago. it became an issue because whenever we need to swipe the card, i need to press the box so that it sticks together and then the machine will detect a connection....

where do i find this box and when i do, what do i do next?

thank you guys

hi guys,

i need some help.

i have been building my own pc for years but this is the first time neither google nor myself can solve this issue.

firstly, my pc spec is as follows:-

AMD FX-8350
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
12gb PC3 DDR1600
OCZ Z1000 PSU
AMD 6950 3gb
WD Raptor 2TB
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Unifi modem and router

i have a problem regarding connection to the internet. my house has 1 macbook, 1 ms-windows laptop, 6 smartphones, one china brand tablet, 1 microsoft windows pc (aside from mine) - all are able to connect to the unifi modem at any given time through wifi

here's my pc's problem although i have to segregate the problems.

1. able to connect to my wifi router but no internet access
this problem occurs using my everyday network adapter, an asus usb n-10
i have no idea why this occurs
i made sure the DNS is automatically set under the TCP/IPv4 settings

i have looked under cmd and tried the ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew although these two yielded errors

i have tried so many things offered in google but i still cant connect

2. not able to connect to the wifi router at all
this happens when i switched the asus adapter with one i used a long time ago - an adapter from buffalo corp.

with this adapter, whenever i try connecting to the wifi router, it says my security passphrase is incorrect
upon other tries, it asks me to enter "network authentication" username and password which was weird because i didnt set any of this up

in all instances, i have tried with and without disabling my firewall

i know people have suggested to reset the unifi router but i am not going to do it just because my pc couldnt connect and i seriously think it's an issue with the network adapters (i may get another brand new one from other brands just to test).

what do you guys think?

[WTA] Questions on NAS

hi frens of LYN,

i am currently in the USA and will be back home to my beloved Malaysia very soon once i receive my masters degree. i have access to some of the best deals on tech stuff in the world and i would like to make use of this by learning all i can with regard to NAS and its functions.

i am really interested in having a good and expansive storage because i game a lot (hence i backup my save data all the time) and i do media stuff and i store all my work online and offline. all my data mean a lot to me and also to my career and i also need access to these data all the time wherever i go (i do travel sometimes for work). currently i am using Dropbox with their free 60gb storage space which is no longer enough after 4 months.

I am planning to get a NAS storage (most interested with Seagate Backup Plus) with a simple personal cloud storage solutions. my questions on NAS are as follows:-

i) while i have money, i dont wish to waste so much on a USD700-1100 NAS. I need at most 4tb-8tb storage because my family may wish to share their stuff in there too and i am tired of keeping up with separate libraries for photos, movies, work data, game data etc. what do you guys suggest? a built in storage NAS 4-8tb or diskless bays and i add disks later?

ii) i have built computers for years but one thing i never really understand is running RAID. all my computers both PC, windows laptops and macbook do not run on RAID. i know there are many types of RAID and i am familiar with only RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5. Built in storage NAS will have RAID settings already pre-configured and all i have to do is just click a button in their software but I am left with no more free space to add more drives. if i add my own drives, how do i edit the RAID settings? through bios?

iii) now let us say items i) and ii) have been settled and i connect the raid through my ethernet port back home with the slowmo unifi router (or any router i use to connect to my unifi), how do i ensure that everyone can access and make modifications to the files in the personal cloud storage (this is assuming i am using built in cloud storage software) - unless you guys can recommend a good cloud storage software that is cheap or FOC). do i make changes to the router settings such as the demilitiarized zone etc?

i have watched several youtube channels and guides found through google and because of the wide range topics covered, i may need specific help...

your time is highly appreciated.

Netbook can connect but not smartphone

hey network gurus,

i have problems which is a bit weird. i am currently in the us for a while and had just installed the superfast fiber optics (25mbps) via Comcast's XFinity

i am facing some problems
the router is as per this link...the first black router in the link is the one im using

anyways, my netbook and my tablet can connect to the router just fine
but my galaxy s3 (from digi) is facing a conundrum
sometimes it can connect sometimes it says authentication error i.e. incorrect password
i have tried isolating my s3 MAC in the router's filter and at first it worked but later on the s3 disconnected itself and says authentication error

i changed the ssid's password etc but nothing works
the router has WPA2 and can interchange TKIP and AES
i changed these things too and while it worked at first suddenly the connection drops and problem resumed

currently it connects to the router but no internet

anyone can help?
Hi audiophiles,

I need help. I received a 5.1 satellite speaker system -Yamaha NS-AP2600 and they use the copper cords. I need to connect it to my PC here in the US and I am aware that I will be needing a receiver to have it play stuff from my PC.

Thing is im on a tight budget so could you guys recommend a good receiver that wont break the bank. im looking at denon avr-e200 or avr-1513. I dunno how to differentiate these two despite price similarities.

What do u think? Will they fit?

Your help is highly appreciated.

I wish I could upload the picture of the item but I dont know why this system is blocking it. Will be staying in the US for a while before returning to KL.

Thanks.
