need help to know what is wrong

I have a pc tht cant't be turned on. The power status in the mobo would be up, but went i try to on it, it just went black.

Tried changing the power supply and its the same thing. So i disconnected the gc and tried using the onboard card. It booted fine. But when i try running the same setup with the previous psu, it wont boot. Not even bios . Any ideas on what is the problem actually .

Need suggestions on current hardware specs

I'm building a PC to run lots of simulation and calculations. Need some input on whether the specs are ok or not. im not sure about the power supply, is 500W enough ? Also any suggestions on the other parts would be helpful . thanks

budget maybe about 500-600, havent decided yet

i am currently using amd am2 with ddr2 rams
i was thinking of getting maybe a mobo with a hybrid setup. is tht recommended ? or should i just get the one with just one good gc. thanks

i was using my pc just now and suddenly the screen froze. i cant control the mouse or the keyboard, however all the other applications that i was running was still fine, just tht i cant control the mouse. it just freezes. so i restart the pc n then both the keyboad n mouse wont turn on. i try using the keyboard n mouse on another pc n its fine. u tried changing the usb ports n it still the same thing. anyone knows what is the problem here.

pc wont boot into windows

my friend just formatted his pc, he installed vista at first.. after the first reboot everything is fine he can go into windows n all.. but after we take out the windows dvd from the drive the computer wont boot and request tht boot device be inseterted.. he only has one dvd drive and one hd .. and currently the master is the dvd drive and slave is hd.. so i told him to switch n make the hd master n the dvd drive slave.. after tht the computer wont ask for any boot device but it the loading screen with the green bars takes too long.. we left it for nearly 20 mins n still it wouldnt go into windows.. if i change the configuration to dvd master and hd slave...the mobo would warn saying tht theres no master hd.. what do u guys think ? got any ideas on how to fix this ?

my house got hit with a power surge or some sort, now the tv wont turn on completely.. it'll go on standby but the light would just blink. it wont turn on. anyone know a good shop to send for repairs ? no warranty d.. also if anyone experienced this before, did u manage to repair it ? if u did how much ? thanks

wireless router can't detect modem

im using d-link dir-635, few days ago the wan port wont detect my modem..it is as if the modem is not connected to the router.. there is no problem with the modem as i can connect to the internet if i plug it in directly to the computer. i was thinking if i make the modem to dial by itself and i connect the modem to one of the ports at the router.. can i use the wifi then ? if so then how ? do i need to do some settings ? im using riger db-102 modem btw.. can anyone help, as i do not want to change the router now..

laptop won't turn on

my laptop won't turn on.. the power cable is ok i think, coz when i plug it in to the laptop there is a light indicating tht the power supply is connected and it is turn on.. but the laptop wont turn on when i press the power button.. i tried powering it up with and without the battery, and its still the same thing.. anyone got any ideas on whats wrong with it ? can i still save the laptop or should i just use it as a paper weight ?

i dont know whats wrong with it. tnb cut the power few days ago, n now my pc wont go on. there is still power there as the motherboard power indicator is on. but when i press the power button it wont boot up.. the first few times i tried the fan moved alittle, n then they stop..now it wont move at all.. theres no activity.. anyone got any ideas of when kaput ?

nic problem..windows wont recognize the device

i just bought a new nic for my desktop. when i plugged it in windows automatically recognizes it as Realtek RTL8139. this weird coz the nic i bought was d-link dfe-520tx. with the realtek drivers, the LAN is there but it will just display cable unplugged. and whenever i disable it, it wont enabl back.. keeps on saying connection error. then i trid to install the d=link drivers manually, via device manager and searching the driver on the d-link cd. when i did this, it'll say device cannot be started. anyone got any idea whats wrong ? could it be tht my pci slot kong dy ?

question about hamachi

me and my friends were trying to play dota thru hamachi last nite.. we're in diffrent house.
i've joined the network and ping is not so bad.. no loss of data or anything.
but when my friend creates a game i cant see it.. at first it thought it might be because of the firewall or maybe the anti virus.. but after i close both of em it still wont detect.. anyone can help with this ?

heat problems..need help, cpu overheating

here is friend's pc :

asus p5 nd2 sli deluxe
pentium d 3.0

previously he had some heat related problems, n his pc keeps on hanging. the temp. tht time was around 55C. i suggested to him to redo the thermal paste. he did, but the temp only drop a few degrees but will go up if he runs any new programs, and it will still keep on hanging. so later he reinstall the OS, the pc hangs less but still it will hang even when he's only listening to some mp3s. we even reflash the bios to the latest firmware (asus states tht the firmware will help to reduce the cpu temp.) but after flashing, the temp went up to 68. it will even go up to 70+. the temp is never constant, the lowest it will go is around 55C (thts in an aircond room ). anyone got any ideas on what to do next?

can anyone recomend me a laptop ? im not sure what brand or model to get. heard that fujitsu is the best laptop around. the laptop is for normal office use, travelling, and doing presentations. would be helpful if anyone can come up with a price..

another lan card problem

i had problems using vista previously so no change to xp.. im using linksys LNE100tx network card. and the card is sometimes unstable. i was using the pc last nigth and the pc can connect to the internet with no problem. but today when i turun on the pc the lan keeps on giving limited network ..... (cant remember what) i tried changing from auto config with manual by putting some ip, and the error msg will dissapear but then thee is still no transfer in the network.. sometimes when i dissconnect and reconnect the lan cable the modem will detect the connection but my pc will say the cable is unpluged.. everytime i restart it will become like this, sometimes it'll be fine somtimes no. and somtimes the OS cant even recognize the nic ( like as if i intalled a new device, have to reinstall the driver again).. anyone got any ideass bout this ?

LAN card problem with vista

im currently using vista, last week i add a wireless router to the network. yesterday, when i got back my pc has no connection to the internet. i check the lan and see that my lan card is not there. its not even in the device manager. but when i boot, i can the lan card there during the hardware check thingy. i tot my onboard got fried already so i install another pci lan card. last night it happened again. pc got no connection. then the hardware dissappear frm the device manager. is there something wrong with the hardware or is it because of vista ?

problem with grub on fc5

i have 2 hard disk. one has windows xp and the other one has fc5. i just installed the fc5 and i followed everything through the manual. during the setup fc5 detects my windows and i set it to be a default boot. but when i restart only fc5 is there. i cant boot to windows thru grub. i check fedora's forum tried changing the grub.conf but its stil the same..anyone got any ideas on how to fix this ?
