Two Malaysians charged with match-fixing

Two Malaysians were charged in court on Thursday with abetting in a conspiracy to fix the LionsXII and Sarawak Malaysian Super League (MSL) soccer match played on Tuesday evening.

Thana Segar S. Sinnaiah, 38, a businessman and a former football player, and referee Shokri Nor, 47, are said to have schemed with each other in a hotel room in Penang to corruptly agree to receive a bribe of RM15,000 (S$6,090) to fix the result of the match which ended in a 3-0 win for LionsXII.

During the match, held at the Jalan Besar Stadium, Shokri was replaced as referee at the last minute.

Three others have since been called up by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau for questioning.

sos

Touchpad

Hi.

As per title, I'm having a problem with devices.

First, I spilt something on my keyboard, resulting keyboard not working properly as it become malfunctioned (e.g. when i pressed L it will log me out from the computer). And then I reformat my laptop to Win7 and disable internal keyboard by purposely installing incompatible driver and using USB keyboard instead. However, new problem arises when my touchpad isn't responsive and produced the same error like my internal keyboard does

CODE

The device cannot start. (code 10)

1. I tried to remove internal keyboard by pulling out the upper cover. But it is too difficult hence I cancelled it and put it back.

2. I tried updating drivers, but found out the driver has been updated to the latest update and the problem still stand unresolved.

I still can use both USB keyboard and mouse but for old laptop like this, there are only 2 slots available (which means I can't use one of the device if I was about to use USB modem etc). USB hub didn't working very well either, insufficient power resulting to unrecognized devices.

As for additional information:

Laptop model: Acer Aspire 4736
RAM: 1GB
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo
OS: Windows 7 32-bit

Thanks

EDIT: wrong title, should asking about touchpad/mouse instead of keyboard.

Bolton accidentally extend Steinsson's contract by 18,002 years

The Trotters have made a bit of a boo-boo, Back of the Net's John Foster takes up the story...
Bolton Wanderers’ fiscal prudence will come under scrutiny after a clerical error saw Gretar Steinsson’s contract extended by over eighteen thousand years, to 20014.

According to the player's spokesman, a typographical error by Bolton chairman Phil Gartside will see the 30-year old earn £13,000 a week for the next 936,104 weeks, plus appearance bonuses.
“Obviously I’m happy with the new deal,” Steinsson told reporters.

“At first the club only wanted to offer a one-year extension, so I’m delighted they’ve relented and given me the full eighteen thousand.”

The Icelandic right-back also confirmed that he expected to finish his career at the Reebok Stadium.

“I think I’ll probably retire when this deal’s up,” he told reporters. “After all, I’ll be 18,032 years old by then, which is a good age to hang up your boots and maybe think about going into coaching.”

An ashen-faced Gartside admitted he had not intended to tie Steinsson to the club for over eighteen millenia, but added that he was determined to make the best of the situation.

“[The contract] may seem a bit on the lengthy side, but a lot can happen in eighteen thousand years,” he told FourFourTwo.com.
“Eighteen thousand years ago, for example, who’d have thought that the land bridge between Asia and Alaska wouldn’t exist today, or that humans would successfully domesticate the wolf? I’m confident Gretar’s experience will be a great asset for this club, especially for our younger players, over the next one hundred and eighty centuries.”

“Besides,” Gartside added, “as the saying goes, eighteen thousand years is a long time in football.”

This is not the first time a Premier League club has erred in its contract negotiations. In 1998, a computer malfunction led to Sheffield Wednesday paying Wim Jonk £8,888,888,888 a day for the duration of his two-year deal.

Similarly, in 2002, confusion over the correct exchange rate of the newly-launched Euro saw Massimo Maccarone move from Empoli to Middlesbrough for £15.5 billion, a fee most fans believe he struggled to live up to.

http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/backofthenet/...-002-years.aspx

Tonight's Meteor Shower

Tonight presents another good night for the 2012 Lyrid meteor shower, from late night Saturday (April 21) until dawn Sunday (April 22). Usually, the hour before dawn is best, regardless of time zone. The Lyrids are generally a modest shower, offering perhaps 10 to 20 meteors per hour. But with no moon to ruin the show, 2012 is the time to watch the Lyrids. Sometimes, the Lyrids can surprise you by producing several times the usual number of meteors – but you never know.

Our chart shows the constellation Lyra again – a closer look than on Thursday. Lyra rises over your north-northeastern horizon around 10 to 11 p.m. tonight and marks the radiant point of the Lyrid meteor shower. In other words, if you see a meteor tonight, you can trace its path backwards to find that it radiated from the constellation Lyra. Yet you don’t have to know how to identify Lyra – or even know its direction in the sky – to see a meteor in this annual shower. Meteors often don’t become visible until they are 30 degrees or so from their radiant point. In other words, the meteors will appear in any and all parts of the sky.

If you’re standing out there looking, try checking out some of the stars in Lyra. This tiny but prominent constellation represents a lyre, an ancient musical instrument that is essentially a small harp. The constellation is dominated by the brilliant star Vega. Vega is sometimes called the “Harp Star.” The constellation Lyra is easy to see because it’s small and compact. Many people see it as a little triangle set on top of an oblique parallelogram.

In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the lyre or harp of the musician Orpheus. It was said that when Orpheus played this instrument, neither mortal nor god could turn away.

There are several other interesting sights for small telescopes within the constellation Lyra. One is the star Epsilon Lyrae, just to the lower left of Vega on our chart. This is the famed double-double star, which means that in binoculars it appears as a double star, but each of those stars also appears as a double in a telescope. In other words, the single point we see with the eye as Epsilon Lyrae is at least four stars.

M57, the Ring Nebula. Credit: The Hubble Heritage Team (AURA/STScI/NASA)
Epsilon Lyrae: Famous “double-double” star

Another interesting object is M57, the Ring Nebula, located between the Beta and Gamma stars of Lyra. These are the two stars farthest from Vega, to the lower right on the chart. M57 is roughly halfway between them, and appears as a faint ellipse – like a smoke ring – in a telescope. It is a planetary nebula, the remant of a sun-like star that shed its outer layers and died.

With no moonlight to obscure this year’s Lyrid meteor shower, you can catch the star Vega, the constellation Lyra the Harp and some Lyrid meteors from late night till dawn.

http://earthsky.org/tonight/close-up-on-co...n-lyra-the-harp
