buying new pc/ laptop in 2026

Wake up today, open up pc n surf net, straight away get bombarded by messages that pc/ laptop prices has gone up. WTF.

Worse still the prices will be like that for the next few years. While I don't really need a new laptop or pc now but if, a big IF I need one, where can i buy one now?
Seems like prebuilt might able to get old price. Or older model of laptops. Or even Macbook etc.

Usage wise, doesnt matter. Normal office usage, gaming etc. As long as price hasn't gone up yet.

buying VIP/ nice phone numbers

I am interested in some phone numbers sold online via carousell/shopee.
Problem is the buyer said I need to pay partial of the amount first. And I need to send ic for them to register then walk in to the telco center to take the simcard.

I offered to go to shop but seller give excuses number in the system or I pay via carousell protection but seems like he evade the question.

Seller profile also recently registered and no reviews yet.
Sounds fishy to me.

I thought if I want that particular number I can just buy the simpack if it is prepaid one. Unless the number is post paid which I have to choose when I go to the telco centers.

Seems like once I pay a small amount I will get blocked and seller will MIA.

Recommendation on speakers for my TV

Will be using it for Netflix, Youtube for movies/ series and also for music (either streaming Spotify or mp3/flac from my pc- how to get it to the system, i am still undecided, might be via bluetooth). Not going for movies with surround sound etc.

Been researching on getting the most bang of the buck for my budget (RM2k, or max 2.5k)

1. Soundbar- Reviews say cheap ones not nice, and nicer ones are way more than my budget
2. Bookshelf speakers. Definitely I wont be able to get home theater specs (eg with AV receiver with nice bookshelf speakers- but if can get it with budget of 3k I am willing to fork up). How about those active bookshelf speakers? Some forumers are recommending edifier s3000pro and be done with it. But is it worth it? Will it sound 50% (or more) better compared to lower end Edifier like r1280t?

Or if my purpose is just to get a better audio (not needing hi-fi quality), any entry level soundbar will do and I better save the money and invest in HiFi ear phone if I want to listen to music?

Anyone knows whether the music reviewer in Galaxie magazine in late 1990s and 2000s still doing music reviews? kinda miss him, cos from the mag, I got to know people like Jeff Buckley, Radiohead etc. Totally opened up my world in music apart from BSB, NSync, Alll Saints etc. (the boyband, girl band era)

How to reduce amount being taxed by Gov?

The recent 20c hike in fuel prices (or rather reduction in subsidies) got me into thinking, what are we being taxed/subsidised in malaysia and how can we minimise or maximising it. It seems that we are being taxed/charged for a lot of minor minor things that we might not be aware about or we are being taxed even without knowing it.

For example,

1. Service tax/ service charge in some restaurants. So solution is, don't eat at those places. Choose stalls, small operators and help the individual instead of helping rich corporations to become richer. Did a search and found this thread https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/777546/all

2. Don't buy new car as car is also taxed. Why not buy a used car where the tax & depreciation is borned by the initial owner.

3. Don't use highway. Use trunk road. Even Touch n Go has reload fee right? (sorry, not staying in Peninsular, so not very sure about that)

But then, most of it we need to use most of it. Which makes us, not much or maybe no option at all but to be continued to be taxed up and down, left and right and front and back.

CNY songs/album recommendation

Since CNY is around the corner, just want to ask for some good CNY songs/albums to buy.
I'm a banana, so don't know much about cantonese/mandrin songs. Really wants those songs that has the 'CNY' feel.

I love listening to the 90s and/ more older CNY songs, but not the too techno type and the little kids singing type.

Or just switch on myfm or 988???

Laptop lags when playing Warcraft III.

I have this problem. My laptop lags while I play games like Warcraft III: Defense of the Ancients (DotA), Counterstrike etc. During starting of the game, it is still acceptable but as the game goes on I can't even move the mouse when many actions are happening. The laptop's fan occasionally gets very loud and then it will be like normal again.

I have tried many ways to improve the situation but it never does. Among the things I have done:
- scan for any virus/trojans etc. I have AVG Free Edition antivirus, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-aware
- reformatted my computer
- updated the my display card driver
- thrown all icons in desktop
- using the old skin (like Windows 98)
- emptied Recycle Bin
- changed the video settings to lowest settings possible in Warcraft III
- giving adequate ventilation to my laptop (I noticed the RAM was quite hot)
- ensuring minimal programs running in taskbar
- checked my DirectX 9.0C. No problems detected there.

My laptop's specification is:
Acer's Travelmate 280
Pentium 4 Mobile 2.2GHz
512MB RAM
30Gig hard disk
Integrated Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
Windows XP Service Pack 2

I think specification wise; it is definitely capable of running Warcraft II without any problem. Is it problem with the integrated graphics card? My friend's Dell with an early generation Centrino 1.3GHz 256MB RAM and integrated graphics card runs the game without any problem.

What is actually wrong with my laptop & what can I do about it? I'm giving up on my laptop already (it's already 4 years old) but apart from this problem it does not give me trouble at all. Anyone can help me? Thanks in advance
