Open File Explorer in Full-screen Mode by default

Hi there.

I'm currently using a Surface Pro 3 plugged into a monitor. Whenever I unplug my Surface, all my open File Explorers go to non-full screen mode and stay that way even when I plug it back into my monitor. Future instances of opening File Explorer will also be in non-full screen mode and I have to manually switch, close and open it for Windows to remember...till the next time I unplug my Surface.

How do I ensure that File Explorer stays in full-screen mode regardless?

Autohotkey and macros

Hi guys.

I'm looking to reprogram the macros on my Asus N55SL laptop via Autohotkey. These macros are the additional buttons on the left of the picture.

The problem is, I'm not sure what to put into the .ahk file. For example, I currently have ???:: Send {Volume_Up} but I'm not sure what should I fill the ??? with. Is there a way to find out?

Projector recommendation for student use

Hi there.

I'm looking for a simple no-nonsense projector for student use. Will be travelling quite a bit with it. My budget is sub RM1000.

Any recommendations?

Hmm, after a brief check on the Lowyat pricelists, seems like Acer is my only choice. Which model strikes you guys as the best buy?

I also had a look at pico projectors off Amazon.us. Considering that option too.

Can't connect to my work wifi via Android phone

I get the following image when I try to connect to my work wifi. It's an open network but requires a log-in. The thing is, I can't even access the log-in screen because this pops up first. All my colleagues do not experience the same problem.

Restoring 'Shut Down' as default option

Pressing Alt+F4 at the desktop would open up a window where 'Shut Down' would be the default option as shown in the pic below.

But now the default option for me is 'Switch User' instead. How do I change it back?

Can't activate MS Office 365 because of region

I bought Office 365 Personal back in Malaysia for university use in the UK. Now I can't activate it because of region restrictions. Is there a way to get around this? I've changed my laptop's region to Malaysia and restarted my computer but it wouldn't work

Hey there.

I've recently been shortlisted for an interview to study Law in UM. I also have an offer to study A&F in the UK (Bath). My ultimate goal is to work in Bank Negara or the Securities Commission after I graduate and these two paths would lead me there.

However, my dilemma lies not in the subjects, but the 'exposure' everyone keeps telling me I would miss if I were to continue studying locally. I've been studying the govt's syllabus all my life (primary --> secondary --> Form 6) so until I make the leap overseas, I don't think I could fathom what this 'exposure' means. I self-study and am not dependant on tuition or spoonfeeding. I take the effort to learn more than what is offered. I also have opinions and am not a lam of the system (at least I think so). I can take care of myself.

The reason why I am seriously considering Law in UM is because I think it'll train me in what I currently lack. I am not as eloquent as debators are, I am not the best in analysing and critical thinking. And I can't present what I think fluently and calmly. I may be misguided but I think Law in UM would give me a better opportunity to train in these areas. It's not to say that I wouldn't have these opportunities in Bath however, as I plan to go out of my way to be active in debating and similar activities there. The factor of cost comes to mind, and I am not sure if this 'exposure' others speak of is worth the huge sum of money required to study there. I believe that only those who don't take the effort to make their best of their local education are the ones who end up 'a weak graduate with no life skills'.

I am not concerned on which has better job prospects. I just want the better environment to facilitate my person growth. Because that's what an education is for, am I right?

My parents are supportive whatever my decision, but being locally educated themselves, they would prefer me to venture and 'expose myself' overseas.

I really look forward to hear from both students who are studying / have studies locally and those who have studies overseas. It'll be even better if some of you guys have been in both world and could clarify my doubts to me.

Wifi driver problem

I was updating my Asus N55SL Audio, Wireless and LAN drivers from the Asus driver site. Everything went well until I rebooted the computer after installing the LAN driver (the last) and then bluescreen.

I tried turning the computer on in safe mode to change the boot settings in msconfig to exclude the newly updated drivers but the problem persists.

HELP!

UPDATE: I've uninstalled all three drivers one by one and reintalled the ones that aren't causing problems. It turns out that I'm having problems with my Intel Wireless driver. After reinstalling it, my computer boots up normally, but now my WiFi is faulty. I either cannot connect at all after troubleshooting, or the Wifi keeps crashing. Here is what my Troubleshooting screen looks like.

I think that the problem might have been going on for quite some time as for a week or so now, it takes a long time to connect to my home internet (around a minute). Maybe the driver update broke it.

Hey there. I'm a prospective undergraduate student looking forward to pursue Bachelor of Commerce in University of Melbourne. I wanna ask any seniors here who are currently studying there and have already graduated on your experiences!

I realise that the course fees and overall cost of living is incredibly high, and I am wondering if it really worth it to study a course like mine (I plan on majoring in Accounting and Finance) in Melbourne as compared to the UK or Singapore. What sets UniMelb apart as far as academics goes? How is your overall satisfaction with academic life there?

Also, one of the main draws for me to study in UniMelb is because of the city life. I've visited Melbourne once and I found that there are a lot of opportunities and experiences to explore in the city. Care to share your experiences about city life in Melbourne? =)

I really hope to cover back as much of my course fees as possible. Are scholarships from the university hard to attain? I also heard that it is nearly impossible to stay back to work as a permanent resident after graduating from university. Is this true?

Question Regarding Working Prospects in the UK

Hello there.

Firstly, I'd like to apologize if my questions sound extremely naive =/

I've just finished my STPM and am deciding if I should pursue further studies in the UK or SG. I may be basing this on stereotypes, but it seems that life in the UK would be more relaxed as compared to SG, and I hold that with high regard as I'm honestly very tired of studying and want to explore new things.

However, I do not want to place a huge financial burden on my family as my sibling wants to pursue medicine. As for me, I'm looking toward Accounting and Finance. If possible, I'd like to secure a job overseas for a few years after graduating so I could cover most of my student expenses, but I've heard that it isn't as easy in the UK as in SG. I heard the norm there is for international students to study, but they aren't really welcome to work there after.

What are your thoughts regarding this?

Need help with looping thick wires

I've recently bought really thick HDMI cables, about the thickness of my pinky and about 8-10 feet in length. But I dunno how to store them so I can untangle them easily. Is there a method for this? I've once seen an audio man looped it in a way that he could just throw it on the floor and everything comes off nicely.

Any tips guys? =)

Thinking of a Management IT degree in the UK

Hello there.

I've just finished my STPM a few weeks ago and am thinking of covering new ground. I have a background in accounting and mathematics and would like to pursue higher education in the UK.

All this while, my target has always been the very traditional Accounting and Finance route. However, I've been thinking about trying out something different for a change. These are what I currently have my eyes on.

BSc Information Systems Management & Innovation at Warwick
BSc Information Management for Business at UCL

There are a few reasons why I'm interested in the above courses.
1. The universities I'm aiming for are pretty prestigious. I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to secure a place with my STPM results, especially since I'll be competing with the more recognized A-levels. I may be misguided, but maybe it'll be easier to enter the courses above compared to an A&F course?
2. This might sound a little far-fetched, but I can see myself working in a tech firm. The degrees seem taylor-made for the purpose.
3. I like diversifying and trying out new things.

However, I've a few questions to ask you guys.
1. Is a background in IT required? I'm not very computer-literate, but I learn quickly.
2. Are the job prospects good? An A&F degree can get me anywhere, but the ones I've mentioned seems to limit your choices to only tech firms.
3. Am I misguided by thinking that these courses are easier to secure a spot into?

I haven't researched a whole lot into these courses yet and I do hope that I could get great input here. I'm sorry for the trouble and thanks for your time!

Help with cropping to a fixed ratio

Hello there.

I actually tried Googling for a solution, but I couldn't understand all the terms. I'm a total novice at image editing so I'm sorry if I can't pick up quickly.

My question is pretty simple actually: Is there a way I can crop a picture to a fixed ratio?

My phone screen resolution (is it called resolution?) is 480x800 and I have a big batch of photos I want to crop to set as wallpapers. Is there a program to set me do this and how do I operate it?

Question regarding earphone standards

Hey guys, I've a pair of Monster Purity earphones that I use with my Lumia 720.

I did some research and I found out that my earphones follow a OMTP stardard and iPhones follow a different standard, the AHJ. This means that controls don't work (such as volume up/ending calls) and the sound should be very much softer, but I found out this isn't the case. Instead, my earphones sometimes sound okay-ish (too much bass most of the time) or the music is too loud. My earphones also sound horrible when I plug it to my laptop's jack, but Apple's earphone sound good. Why is that? Is there a way I could find out the type of jacks my laptop (Asus N55SL) uses?

(QUESTION) Inventory Models - Rounding Up/Down

Hey sifus!

My friends and I are confused regarding rounding the values of certain aspects of inventory models.

if my EOQ is 176.35 units, should I round it up to the ceiling value (177 units) because you'd generally want to order more instead of less right?

Should I round up my average inventory (say EOQ/2 = 88.5 --> 89) or leave it in decimal form?

How about reorder points? I should always round down these numbers because its better to order more than less right? Vice versa for cycle time?

I was helping my brother to download some SPM trial papers and after I'm done, I noticed that my Chrome browser keep redirecting to http://ww92.btosjs.info/.

I ran MSE and Malwarebytes and both detected viruses and they were successfully cleaned a virus. But the problem persisted. Help!
