Hi, looking for a HDD for desktop os drive 1 TB. Between Samsung sata II F3 @ rm 169 and WD blue sata III @ rm 159. What's your recommendation?

Wanna to clarify this.

Abit SG 71 mobo can support Pentium 4 socket 478 Williamette and Northwood processors at FSB 400 and 533.

What about Prescott FSB 533, can or not sifus?

Monitor no display

Hi all,

I had this faulty desktop pc1 of my nephew with me.

1)After switching on the start button, there is a short beep, folllowed by a blank screen. I mean blank dark gray CRT screen, not 'blue' dead screen.I have swapped to another good working monitor, also same. Rule out monitor problem.

2)Indicator lights are on.CPU fan spinning.Rule out Psu.

3)harddisk is spinning during starting, after that is quiet. I guess harddrive is ok.

4)Take out ram, and reinstall and appears to me to be ok.

5)So I want to check the AGP discreet video card----I had another pc2 with HIS discreet vga as well as integrated vga.

May I ask your guidance on the 'correct' method of swapping/mounting/removing the HIS vga for testing whether pc1 vga is faulty or not??

Hi friends,

Why is it most of the times, after clicking 'turn off' --- the Win sp II won't turn off and hang most of the times, and sometimes show 'Windows closing.......' for hours.The red light and green power light also not off.

What should I do ??

Hi,
I had a HIS 9600 All in Wonder card installed, followed by downloading attached drivers from dvd provided
So , there was a video capture driver . While doing set-up, the pc hangs a few times.

I reset pc a few times, now the ATI control centre shows: NO Video Capture Driver.

I uninstall ATI drivers at pc, install from ati website--no help. I try install from dvd provided with the card, also no help.

What have i not done right??

Advice and comments appreciated!

Issues sorted out. I go to Device Manager >> sound, video and game controllers >> Uninstall driver of selected device >> inatall drivers of selected device

Hi, I have a Dlink G604T router bought in early 2006. I access my router and click "Advanced", I get the following:

UPnP
Virtual Server
Filters
Routing
DMZ
Firewall
RIP
PPP
ADSL
ATM VCC
Wireless Management
Wireless Performance

From the above, it does not include "Port Forwarding" function!!!

How do I proceed with Port Forwarding?????

Hi Lowyatians,

Yesterday I was surfing and do avg scanning like before. After 1 hour or so, I came back to see the screen black..... showing nothing at all.
This morning I switch on the laptop, swap the power sockets, check the power cables etc. still cannot post....no sound also .... the whole screen black. Only power on green light is on.
What is wrong with the laptop?? Help pl....

Monitor no display

Hi there,

I switch on my pc this morning. CPU has steady red and green light as usual, however the monitor no 1 has no display at all....not even showing blue or orange colour at the on-off button for the monitor.

Switch to monitor no 2 . Also same thing..no display, but on-off button shows orange colour,.meaning no signal from CPU??

Last night , the pc was working ok!

Any advice and help please?

Edit:This mobo is ABIT SG 71 comes with integrated graphics. The AGP 4x slot is not in use.The 2 monitors are both LG 17" LCD monitor.

Hi all,

The ms Word opens automatically whenever the Windows (pro sp 2) starts up everytime...

this happens recently After 'Windows Installer' automatically activated for no apparent reasons...... and this is must be the the culprit or cause of problem.

How do I solve this problem??? Helps appreciated....

In control panel>>regional and languages>>select Chinese PRC and English as input languages,,, then go into Hotmail,Yahoo and Gmail to compose message, try Hanyi Pinyin..but cannot write Chinese characters.

How to overcome this, something to do with comp settings. Help please

Hi folks,
I had a 4 year old ati agp 8x video card, and so I:-
1)At Control Panel>>device manager>>display adapter>> I disable the integrated card Sis650_651...mobo ABIT SG71 Pentium 478 processor.
2)I shut down Windows.
3)Next I open up physically the cpu casing and correctly mount and assemble the ati agp8x card .( mobo is agp4x).
4)I on the Windows,Found New Hardware Wizard comes out,ask for driver files.
5)I connect usb drive E (which contains downloaded ATI8.152_XP2K driver files from ati website),.....somehow the Wizard is unable to copy the required files from thie usb drive E....

Help needed to resolve this. What steps I have missed out ??

Note:the above video card driver is Gecube download. Not ATI.

Hi,

I have 3 desktops networked to a modem router.

Iwant to set up 'fax' at PC2's wins OS

Start>>control panel>>Add or remove programme>>Add/remove Windows components>>checked 'fax service' and click next......then it prompts for inserting Windows XP Pro CD_ROM.

After inserting the HP compaq disc.. 'Configuring Components' menu shows ::Status copying files... Then after a minute or so, another menu 'File Needed' prompts up saying 'copying files from "E:\i386"....I checked 'browse' but could not locate this file.

Then the setup process get stucked here, not able to proceed from here..

Need help from expert how to complete this 'setup of fax service'.

Broadband : 512Mbps

I have 3 desktops networked together and connecting to Internet through a DLink modem router for years..

This morning I switch on the router. My desktops No 1 and No 3 can access Internet as usual.

However,my desktop No 2 shows "Page cannot be displayed".
Start>control panel>network connections : Only shows Dial up(disconnected) and wizards for Network setup and New connection.The logos for Internet Gateway and Local Connection Network have gone "missing" or disappears.

How do I get connetion to Internet thru desktop No 2??
Help please, sifus...

limited or no connectivity

Hi sifus there,

My streamyx connection with 3 desktops was working fine for years.

my modem router is D-Link G604T.

Yesterday, I connect a Cnet 5 port switch to DLink ethernet port no 3.

Then from the 5 port switch , I connect to existing PC 3 and additional Pc called PC 4.

Now, both PCs 3 and 4 cannot connect to Streamyx cos limited and weak connectivity.

PCs 1 and 2 can online as usual.

Anything I did wrong? Asking for help please..
