I'm currently working in an advertising agency.

One of the clients I'm handling is a bank (one of the top 3 banks in Malaysia).

Got an offer to go to client side working on the marcom team.

Should I go for it? Anyone have any experience with marcom?

Can I progress here? Will I be able to climb? Learn a lot? Benefits? Pay wise?

Thanks

Fairly new to interviews in general. Applied for a job at one of the big international ad agencies in malaysia. Just finished the first interview and got called back for second one.

My question is...

What's the point of a second interview? What should I be prepared to answer? Is it true that if I'm called back for second interview, it means I can almost secure the job?

Thanks

Annoyed with this colleague of mine

I have problems with this particular colleague of mine at work. She's been annoying me and getting on my nerves ever since she has joined the company.

Let's call this individual M.

M is a manager (position is one-up from my current one).

M is very lazy. She comes in late (came in at 10 today and was carrying a takeaway cup of coffee) and leaves early (sharp at 6). Do note our standard working time is 8.30 to 5.15.

When it comes to work, M has taken more MCs and ELs than anyone else in my office (She's been working for 7 months, some of us have been here for 2 years+).

Besides that, M is very obnoxious and loud. She's the type of person who has maxed ringtone volume and uses a song as a ringtone for her SMS too. She has a very fake laugh that you can hear all the way from the other side of the room.

She get's her work done but I feel like shes a liability to the team.

I also know for a fact that my boss dislikes her. My boss is also aware of her laziness as its become very obvious.

Recently, we just found out that M got knocked up. She decided to share the good news with everyone on our floor.

Last week, she took 3 days MC because she was having "issues". The week before that, she took 2 days MC. This is really getting out of control. When she's not here, someone else will be tasked to do her job. That disrupts the productivity of the team and everyone is affected but she doesn't seem to care.

For some reason, my boss (lady) also has been treating her really nice after she shared the news.

I'm not sure what to do right now. I get very annoyed and angry when I hear her voice or laugh. The things she does annoys me to the point where I have considered throwing letter over it.

Am I sensitive and should I grow a thicker skin? Or does this sort of thing seems fked up to you guys?

Pls do share.
Advertising field

Hi all,

There was a thread opened previously about advertising but it became inactive for a long time.

I decided to open a new thread to see if any lyn members are in the advertising line and what they're experience has been like.

If you are in advertising, please do tell if you're a creative or a suit, your current agency (you don't have to do this if you don't want to), how much working experience do you have and how has your experience been?

I'll start with myself.

I'm an account executive at a local advertising agency. I've been here for the past 9 months but I feel like it's the right moment to branch out and try an international agency instead to see how the process works there.

My experience so far has been pretty eye-opening. I learned a lot about myself and more importantly, being in servicing, it has made me better at communicating. I still feel I have a lot to learn as media is constantly changing and there's a lot of things which you must pick up through trail and error and can't be studied in a book.

Any advice on whether I should stay for another year or start looking?

Slim khaki pants

I've been looking for a new pair of khaki pants as my previous ones were too loose and baggy. I'm very peculiar about the fit as I believe that's the most important thing when it comes to clothes.

It will mostly be used for work - business casual - with a dress shirt and wingtips.

I've been to H&M and bought a pair of chinos. The fit is great but the material is very thin and feels like it might rip any moment.

I just dropped by the dockers store as I heard some rave reviews about their Docker Alpha and D1s. D1s were too loose while the docker alpha was okay but had limited colors.

What brands would you guys suggest?

Deadlifting

I've been into bodybuilding (junior) for the past 2 months. One thing which I made mandatory in my workout are deadlifts. Personally, I feel like they are crucial for almost any back workout. However, the other day, I was working out with a gym buddy of mine and he made a comment which got me thinking...

"Deadlifting only works if you go heavy"

To be honest, I feel like what he said is a load of crock. I have tons of respect for the guy because he is pretty shredded and has been working out for longer than me but he just sounded so ignorant.

I am currently doing 50kgs and although its not that heavy, I can see results already. I have a fuller and thicker back.

What do you guys reckon? Should deadlifting only be done if you're going extra heavy?
