Where to shop for a high quality duvet?

I am visiting Malaysia soon. When I used to live in KL in the past, we always got our bedding from Aussino. I am currently thinking of getting a new duvet to take home.

What stores besides Aussino should I check out for high quality (hotel like) bedding?

Or am I perhaps better off just getting a new duvet somewhere else (online for example)?

Which eSIM should I get?

Hi,

I will be visiting Malaysia for about 3 weeks in September so I am looking into getting an eSIM. I am used to getting sim cards, but I realized I may be much better off to just having a working connection upon arrival, instead of having to go to a shop first like I used to.

I have been looking into the many different eSIM providers...it is not easy for me to make a decision.

I was thinking of getting a 30 day validity one. Unlimited data often means you get throttled, which I don't want. So I would need at least 15GB or more I guess. Having a proper connection in Sabah as well would be nice...but I do not expect wonders when I am visiting nature parks and such.

I will stay in Singapore as well for a few days, but besides that no need for many other countries...also no need after the 30 days.

Which eSIM would you recommend?

Non-membership golf courses?

I was hoping to get some information on playing a round of Golf without the hassle of a membership? Usually I travel to Malaysia for a few weeks and would love playing a round (9 hole is fine) of Golf. I do not have my clubs with me, so I would ideally look to rent them.

Any tips on what places to visit? Any golf courses that are better affordable in KL and surrounding area?

Searching for ultimate drone spots in KL (area)

Hey all. I am looking for unique spots in KL for drone photography. I'll be using a DJI Mini 3 Pro. I already did some research and found some amazing spots to launch (safely/legally without being a bother to others). As for the spots. Think of unique locations for perfect angles. Like the backdrop of a small lake with the skyline of KL in the back. But it's not only KL's skyline I am looking for. It could very well be kampung-life near KL or any other place really (like Genting perhaps, or maybe the Carey Island area for some local pics). Perhaps you guys/gals have some nice tips on where to start looking?

I would love Google Maps pins to exact spots if possible. Later on I can share mine as well once I did my trip (this summer).

Domain for sale: labuan.co

What the topics says. I have a pretty nice domain for if you are active in Labuan (with for example a Labuan company, or anything else actually).

www.labuan.co is a fine top level domain.

Please do not low-ball me, though I am willing to part with it for a very reasonable amount of RM (payment via paypal or local bank transfer).

What the topics says. I have a pretty nice domain for if you are active in the local wedding industry.

www.weddinginmalaysia.com is a fine domain. I have put a pretty basic website on there, with plans to make it into a bigger concept, but time flies and I'd rather pass it along to someone that can actually make the most out of it.

I do not mind parting with the contents too.

Please do not low-ball me, though I am willing to part with it for a very reasonable amount of RM (payment via paypal or local bank transfer).

What are your opinions on the new social network tsū?

I like the fact that it is as simple as facebook when it comes to posting content, but there are a bit too many similarities.

A good unique aspect is the fact that your content is monetized by the user, and not (only for 10%) by the owners/company behind tsū. So you can actually make money of the network. The better the content you publish, and the more clicks on the ads...the more you get (90% of the revenue).

Want to connect? My page is: https://www.tsu.co/WonderfulMalaysia

Anyway. I am interested to find out what you guys/gals think of this. For me, there can never be enough social networks to publish to .

I will be travelling within the peninsula next few weeks. Usually I buy a umobile prepaid sim card, but that is when I mostly spend my time in KL.

What prepaid telco currently has best coverage and most reliable speed?

Is is possible to get 4g prepaid, or will 3g have to suffice?

I need a nano-sim for the iphone 5s, I assume this type of sim card is easily available?

Places that may have less reliable connections are: Royal Belum, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan and Taman Negara...

Any suggestions?

DJI Drone & GoPro3 question

I am not sure if this is the right section, but I could find any better place to publish my question.

I have lived in Malaysia for a few years and have visited the country many, many times in the past.

I recently saw a very nice movie about the DJI drone together with a GoPro Hero 3 camera. I am into travel photography but this is whole new dimension.

Have that DJI Phantom with the GoPro means I can take pics of complete new angles.

I almost bought the whole setup, when someone reminded/warned me of local government policies against usage of drones, even commercial ones.

Does anyone know what the stance is towards bringing along a drone in travel luggage? Do I take a big risk trying to travel to Malaysia with a commercial drone? I've read people being denied at some countries, but cannot find what Malaysia thinks of it?

Any input would be very welcome....

Total distance is about 100 meters. I do not have extremely heavy stuff. I think it can all be done within 2 hours or less. Everything will already be packed proper.

Can you guys/gals recommend me some trustworthy local moving companies that don't charge ridiculously high prices?

Thanks

Tailor job: cuffed to regular buttons

Hi,

I have a very nice cuffed shirt. However, the shirt would be much nicer without the cuffs. I don't want to throw the shirt away because of it.

I was wondering if you guys/gals perhaps know if a tailor is able to use the access fabric to transform the cuffed shirt into a regular button sleeved shirt? There is quite some fabric used at the part where the cuffs now are used...so perhaps a clever tailor is able to solve this for me?

Any idea if this is possible?

Thanks.

Storage solution

Hi all,

I am in search of a proper storage solution.

I am moving out in a few months, and need to have my belongings stored in professional conditions. After I have settled in my new place abroad, I will have my stuff send over.

I got a quote from extraspace.com.my, which is a good start. I was hoping you guys/gals are perhaps able to point me into the direction of more good and reliable storage companies.

We only need to store a few pieces of furniture and some (abt 15) moving boxes. It is quite important that we are able to authorize a third party (moving company/freighter company) to collect our belongings on our behalf after a few months.

Any input would be very welcome.

Thanks.

Ilya
Painting carry bag

Hi all,

I am looking for a place where I can buy a simple painting carry bag. I am flying abroad soon, and need to bring along a small (around 21" - 50cm x 30cm) piece of art similar to a painting. Nothing special, and also not worth that much but still valuable to me. I want to bring it along a hand luggage (as it isn't that big). I will have it wrapped proper, but need a bag that can carry it. I've been thinking about standard laptop bags and such, but they don't make them in this size.

Anybody knows a place where I can buy a painting carry bag, or messenger bag that fits this painting (KL area).

Thanks.

Ilya

btw. as it is not an actual painting, I cannot simply remove it from the frame and re-frame it again at my destination....

Cheapest way to keep number alive
