I have 2 mortgage loans, with EIR of 4.25% and 4.3% respectively.

I'm wondering if these rates are considered reasonable and if it is better for me to refinance them at lower loan packages, if there is any?

Medical insurances comparison

Hello, I'm trying to get a medical insurance for my son who's turning 3 this August.

So far I've received proposals from Manulife, AIA and also AXA. All three provides non-ILP, stand-alone medical insurance.

Out of the three, AXA provides the most value and its price is also very competitive thus I'm leaning towards them.

To be sure I'm not making a mistake by signing up with AXA, I'm just wondering if there's any ktard here that has experience dealing with AXA when it comes to medical insurance claim?

Thumbs up to Perkseso for their immaculate efficiency.

I lost my eldest brother to Covid last August, he was 47. Only in the last week in December was I able to go back to Malaysia via VTL to handle some of his post-death matters.

We visited EPF to apply for his account closure and withdrawal and the kind lady at JB EPF office reminded us to visit Perkeso to do the same thing.

Only when we were at Perkseso did we learn about Pencen Penakat which is a monthly pencen for deceased Perkeso members' loved ones after he passes. (Only applicable for active member who passes before the age of 60).

As my brother was unmarried, my parents are the designated beneficiary of the payouts. We applied for this on December 28th and barely one week later my father received the first payout in his bank account. This is very impressive and I must commend Perkeso for their efficiency.

The main reason for this is because of the GME saga.

Hedge funds who short GME need to raise funds to service their short positions interest to keep on fighting, thus they have liquidated their holdings in other counters, creating a sell off.

Other market movers who want to profit from longing GME also sold off their holdings in other counters to fund their purchase of GME stocks, again creating a sell off.

That’s the reason your investments have seen some losses last week, you are the collateral damages.

Now, what can you do?

You can chill and relax and wait this through.

You can even buy the dip if you believe in your holding’s long term prospect.

Or, you can hedge your bet by buying GME stocks, hoping your potential gains in this would cancel out your losses in your main holdings.

Just my 2 cents.

Road tax and car insurance renewal

Hello,

My car’s road tax and insurance coverage would expire in a month’s time (March 1st 2021). However as I’m in Singapore right now and the car is not being utilised at all in Malaysia, can I just choose not to renew its road tax and insurance? I believe I will be back to Malaysia by Q4 this year and can I renew them only by then? Would there be a penalty from JPJ or insurance company? When renewed, would the new coverage start from the date I renew them or would they claw back to March 1st 2021?

My brother in Shah Alam had just been tested positive for Covid-19 today.

He went out with his friends on 4/12 (Friday), one of whom was tested positive on 6/12 (Sunday). He had been self quarantining himself in his room upon knowing this last Sunday. He did have contact with his wife and 3 sons last Saturday and Sunday. All of them had been staying at home without going out since last Sunday.

May I know what would be next steps for his family? I know he would be picked up by KKM's ambulance later, but what would happen to his family members? Would they be asked to get tested too? FYI his wife had just gone out to get tested in a private clinic upon knowing that her husband is Covid positive earlier today.
