How to buy used cars from other states?

I've been searching Honda Stream and Toyota Wish on Carlist and mudah.my and found that used cars in Selangor and KL and even Johor are generally cheaper! I'm from Ipoh and prices here are generally about 10k more!!! Why? Is there a catch why Selangor and KL is selling cheaper? And if I'm interested, may I know some of the complications buying cars from other states? Anyone tried this before? Any advice is welcome! Thx...

Honda Stream or Grand Livina or Innova

I'm not gonna lie but I do care about the looks of the car...
So I'm currently looking at recon 2010 Honda Stream... Searching through mudah.my and carlist tells me it's about 90k...
But its a 2nd hand car... Used before in Japan, right? So will a brand new Grand Livina or even Innova be better? Or got other choices Im not aware of?
But of coz GL and Innova aint as pretty as Stream...
I'd like to have some feedback from Stream owners... How's the comfortness and spaciousness? How's the FC? And how's the maintenance?
Thank you!
If those who answer me "they just simply won't pay", I know I know, but recently JPJ not tangkap those offenders very frequently meh? Please enlighten me...

US Fiscal Cliff

About.com Explains Fiscal Cliff

"The Fiscal Cliff Explained

Fiscal cliff is the popular shorthand term used to describe the conundrum that the U.S. government will face at the end of 2012, when the terms of the Budget Control Act of 2011 are scheduled to go into effect.

Among the laws set to change at midnight on December 31, 2012, are the end of last year’s temporary payroll tax cuts (resulting in a 2% tax increase for workers), the end of certain tax breaks for businesses, shifts in the alternative minimum tax that would take a larger bite, the end of the tax cuts from 2001-2003, and the beginning of taxes related to President Obama’s health care law. At the same time, the spending cuts agreed upon as part of the debt ceiling deal of 2011 will begin to go into effect. According to Barron's, over 1,000 government programs - including the defense budget and Medicare are in line for "deep, automatic cuts."

All these will in turn cause US people to have less money to spend, which will affect business, which in turn will affect the economy and possibly causes the US to go back into recession temporarily. And this might cause the stock markets to go down.

WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON THIS?

Will KLCI go below 1600 again this year?
US still has its Fiscal Cliff to be resolved, bad news will come out from Europe anytime, weak manufacturing data + slow growth in China AND our own General Election (which i predict the opposition will win big this time), will all these uncertainties bring down the KLCI again this year?
So that undervaluation of companies can happen for us to buy undervalued companies!

Hyundai i10 Pricing

I've been trying to find out the exact and most recent prices of all the Hyundai i10 variants but to no avail. The official Hyundai Malaysia website (A very lousy website indeed!) only shows the price of the 1.25L High Spec variant's Price, which is RM56k. The Inokom official website didn't even show the pricing!

Other websites such as carlist.my, livelifedrive.com and paultan.org show different prices for the 1.25L High Spec!

AND I can't even find out the exact price of the 1.25L Standard Spec and whether it has both ABS with EBD and Dual Airbags or not... Deeply disappointed with Hyundai's and Inokom's efforts with their websites...

Instead, Kia has done a great job with their website, easy, simple, direct and convenient!

Can anybody pls state the latest and accurate OTR price of all the variants of the Hyundai i10? And whether the 1.25L standard spec has got dual airbags and ABS or not.

Thank you!!!

PS: Pls don't ask me to go to the nearest showroom coz the nearest one is damn far from where I'm working now...

Best Foreign Budget Car

I've just joined the workforce and frankly, my decent salary only allows me to squeeze a wee bit of money for a car. So of course a budget car comes in mind but which is the best? Been doing a lot of research but still couldn't make up my mind.

AND I'm not even considering local cars coz frankly, they all suck.

AND I think ABS with EBD + Dual Airbags are basic safety necessities.

So here's the list of candidates, pls cast ur votes and pls leave some comments here.

Appreciate all your feedbacks! Thanks!

Teachers Mismanaged, Misused

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
This quote here is one of my favourites of all time and these words were from the great Nelson Mandela himself, the man who united and developed South Africa until what it is today – the most developed nation in Africa.

I couldn’t agree more with his quote here. With education, a nation has the ability to grow, develop and prosper by leaps and bounds. With education, the people of the nation will be armed with valuable knowledge and skills that will enable them to achieve many things. With education and knowledge, the people of the nation will no longer starve and live in poverty as they will be able to earn a decent living.

Thus, we all know just how important education is to a nation. The one profession who plays the most important role in executing such an enormous task is none other than the teachers. Teachers are the ones who teach, educate and impart indispensable knowledge and skills to students. They are the ones who bring up generations and generations of bright students who would one day contribute significantly to a nation’s productivity and development. Therefore, we can see just how important teachers are in the education role.

However, if the policy makers of the education department or ministry do not make full use of, or more precisely, misuse the teachers’ expertise and abilities, wouldn’t it be a terrible waste to the people and the nation? Well, this is exactly what’s occurring to me at the moment.

Let’s start off with a bit of introduction. I am a trained secondary school biology teacher. I graduated from my university, University Putra Malaysia (UPM), in October 2011 and finally got posted to a school in May 2012. Unfortunately, I was posted to a Primary Chinese school in a remote rural area called Manchis in Bentong, Pahang, which is about 300 kilometers away from my hometown, Ipoh, Perak.

The reason of my relocation from secondary to primary school is due to the following series of events. Well, Chinese primary schools in Malaysia have been facing the problem of teacher shortage for many years. The same goes for this year. However, the United Chinese Schools Committee’s Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) had brought this matter up to the education ministry but coincidently at the same time, we were fighting for our rights to get posting to schools as well (as we have been waiting for many months since our graduation last year).

Consequently, eight solutions, both short term and long term, were provided to solve this shortage of teachers. Well, the eighth solution was to relocate us, those who have taken the Chinese subject during our SPM examinations in Form 5, to primary school instead of secondary school. However, this relocation was done without our consent at all. No efforts were even made to inform us of such arrangement!

Many wouldn’t think of this as a big deal because teaching primary school students would seem to be much easier than teaching secondary school students. Well, I beg to differ; it’s definitely not as easy, if not harder. Well, I have been trained in my university for four years plus 3 months of practicum training to learn how to teach secondary school students, not primary. The approach, pedagogy, techniques and so on to teach secondary school students are entirely different from that of teaching primary school students.

When I’ve finally arrived at this new primary school of mine, I found that I was at a complete lost as to how to teach primary school students. My colleagues asked me not to worry and told me I will soon get used to it but frankly, five weeks have passed and I still haven’t got a clue of the correct ways to conduct a decent lesson for my students. I feel guilty and sorry for them but it’s really not my fault; I’m a victim myself! I have to declare – I do not know how to teach primary school students effectively!

Despite such difficulties, I would still carry out my duties with the best ways I can. Coming back to my room after a long day’s work, I would console myself with the thought of this arrangement would most probably be made a temporary one. I strongly believe I would one day go back to teach biology at secondary school where I truly belong. This is not the end of my story; the worst has yet to come!

To my dismay, when I’ve finally received my official offer letter from the education ministry, my field of expertise was changed from Biology to Chinese! How could this happen? I wasn’t the only one; all of our fields were changed to Chinese! Are we intended to be trapped in primary school forever? We wouldn’t mind serving at primary school for a year or two to help ease up the problem of teacher shortage but this? Is this a bit outrageous? Is this not some sort of violation of human rights? I really could not believe what I’m facing.

I have always dreamt of being a great Biology teacher, teaching my favourite subject and imparting such fascinating facts and knowledge about our amazing natural world to my students. But now it seems to me that my ambition, my dream, my hope have all but dashed.

First, we were sent to primary school without informing us or asking for our agreement. Then most of us were sent to remote areas. And now our fields of expertise are not even spared as they’re all changed to Chinese. Is this not a bit too ridiculous? We wouldn’t mind teaching at primary school for a year or two to help ease the shortage of teachers, really! But changing our fields seems to have crossed the line, wouldn’t it?

I am in no position to neither criticize nor direct the authorities to do things in my favour. But I am only trying to protect my own rights as a human, a citizen and most importantly, as a teacher. I do wish to contribute to my beloved country by imparting the knowledge and skills I know best to my students. But at the moment, I have to say I just couldn’t carry out such duties to the best of my abilities because my expertise is somehow misused.

Therefore, I sincerely hope that the education ministry can at least provide us an official statement or letter which guarantees our return to secondary school, perhaps in a year or two. I wish that our plea is heard and our dilemma will be solved in the near future. We only wish to serve the people and our beloved country with the best of our abilities.

p/s: Education plays a vital role in producing competitive individuals who can collectively move a nation forward and teachers are the ones entrusted to carry out this gargantuan task. If the teachers’ strengths and skills are not put into good use, what good is it for the nation?

Are accounts/finance/business courses crucial

I'm a science/edu fresh graduate and I've never learned anything about Accounts/Finance/Business.

I've never realized the importance of Personal Finance and Investment until I randomly stumbled upon these topics on the internet few months back.
Since then, I've become increasingly interested in Creating Wealth and Growing Wealth through Stock Investment.

Then I realize I've got so much to learn and I started to feel like I'm losing so much to those who took the accounts/finance/business path.

Is this true? Does Accounts/Finance/Business courses actually make one a better investor?

Coz from what I see, those who took Accounts/Finance/Business courses have an edge for knowing how to analyze financial reports or calculate numerous ratios of a company or understanding macro or micro economic news (e.g. Reuters/bloomberg) thus able to make good decisions whether to invest in a particular company...

So what do you guys think? Does Accounts/Finance/Business grads stand a better chance than science grads to be better investors?
