Are u one of them?

Just saw Lynas' facebook page on the advertisement section of facebook today. Looking at the comments made, I'm disappointed by how we Malaysian react to this kind of issues and feel that i should post out my thoughts.
http://www.facebook.com/lynasmalaysia?sk=wall
Raging at Lynas facebook wall will get us no where. If u're against Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP), then please voice out through proper channels, eg: writing to the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) or even the ministry of environment. The opposition party even took this case to court.

But firstly, we should understand what LAMP actually do, whether it's really harmful to us.
Here's a report by International Atomic Energy Agency:
http://www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/pdf/lynas-report2011.pdf
and a summary of it:
http://www.nuclearmalaysia.gov.my/lynas/YB...AS_05072011.pdf
I quote their main finding "The IAEA Report concluded that it did not find any instance of “any non-compliance with international radiation safety standards” in the Lynas project."
Yes, the IAEA made 11 recommendations, among them is that Lynas should submit a long term waste management plan.
From the report we can see that LAMP is within international radiation safety standards and the recommendations are not required by law but still, AELB requires Lynas to submit the waste management plan within 10 months.
http://www.aelb.gov.my/aelb/malay/dokumen/...b2012_FINAL.pdf

Now since LAMP is within the international standards, why are so many of us still objecting it?
The way I see it is that the opposition party has flame up this issue to gain more votes in the coming General Elections.
Before you reject LAMP, please understand that we are one way or another a beneficiary of its output.
So totally rejecting rare earths will be hypocritical, unless u claim that u don’t gain any benefit from rare earths.

I'm not asking u to support or object LAMP, but at least understand what u're supporting or objecting first.
If u're objecting it, please let it be that you are promoting and demanding responsible, safe handling of radioactive wastes by Lynas, not to reject them. Because if radioactivity by rare earths is truly the main reason why u reject this plant, I am very sorry to inform u that we are, at this very present moment, already exposed to plenty of them through the devices that we use in our daily lives.

Once again, I'm not posting this thread to discuss whether to support or reject Lynas.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this issue.
What i'm asking is that we use the correct channel to voice out our concerns over this issue so that it doesn't reflect badly on us Malaysian.
So please my fellow Malaysian, show the world that we are matured enough by not raging at Lynas' facebook page.
