How to block spam from 5-6 digit private number?

Idk who sold my phone number, or that these fellas simply blast to millions of random numbers, but nowadays they are using private commercial numbers to blast.

While blocking normal numbers is stupid and useless because they can have a bunch of them, its equally not possible to block 5 digit numbers because banks and telco uses it.

These fellas know there is a limit to how many sms normal number can send while a 5 digit can send endless of it, so now they upped the game and i cant believe its so easy for them to buy that service.

How la? Endless spam !

Maxis auto enabled ipv6 and broke connection

So there was some issue about 4 days ago, maxis out of nowhere enabled ipv6 native for me, dual stack but default ipv6.

I won't notice that until some sites cant be accessed, checked my router and found out it has ipv6. I suspect it was ipv6 and https not compatible with some sites.

[attachmentid=8985669]

Called up the support, and they also dont know why it enable for me, after many back and forths, they said.

1. ipv6 is only for business
2. only a very small subset of business can have ipv6 and need to pay a premium
3. nobody can enable ipv6 unless they reset the router and re-configure it

Then how in the world and who broke into my house to do this?

For 3 days+ i cant access lowyat.com or the forum, wikipedia, apple, yahoo, and many many more.

Then they dont seem like very interested to solve my case, i had to reconfigure the router myself to disable ipv6, and everything is back to normal.

Edit:

I've since saw many people complain the same issue, so i'm not the only one.

To Maxis, please lah, if you enable it remotely on peoples' router (despite i actually hate having tr69 switched on), you can also disable it from your end ! How does it even make sense if you can roll out ipv6 config on account-level and router but cant disable it ?

Disappointed with western style medication

Firstly, this will appear rant-ish. So rant alert.

The main topic here is GERD / silent reflux / Gastropraisis.

Summary:

Now, what happened was i went to see a GI specialist in sjmc, and the doc just simply prescribe me a PPI, motilium and gaviscon. At first he said he might do a scope, but said "why not you take this first for 1 month and come back to me if your symptom doesn't improve". Hurriedly shoo me away so he can have his lunch.

The long:

I have been having silent reflux, although just sour taste in my mouth for 2 months+ and i sendiri took PPI already. For 7 days once a day, i took it, and felt like nothing much improve. We all know all too well, sometimes it happens for a short time and my imeediate thought was just see if the meds can cure it. Nope.

Then i suddenly felt hard to eat more than few bites, went see a clinic doc and doc referred to a GI in sjmc. I no choice, went there as well, waited for 2 hours+ just so i can see the doc, and more time just for the meds to dispense.

So the doc just simply check, didn't ask much question, ignored me telling him i took PPI and antacid already, and simply just said "you may have GERD, takes out a piece of paper that has pictures and said, you cant take this, and eat more of this, and bla bla. And i said, i don't eat or do any of the NO, and i eat all the YES, but he continued to ignore me, and said i'll give you these meds, take it 1 month and and if symptom no improve come back to me.

I have my parent helped me do some of the things because i'm physically not able to. Then when finish everything and they showed me the meds, i was super duper mad. The doc gave me Rabeprazole, which when i look at it i know edi, this is like the most expensive PPI of all the PPI out there and he gave me gaviscon which i said i already have.

Anyway, if i'm feeling more frus, i'll update with more of my rant.

1 ipv4 to millions of ipv6 tunneling question

Hey,

I have a need to perform this, not sure if anyone done it before.

I need to tunnel my current maxis ipv4 to HE ipv6, and each port to 1 ip each in the /48.

If possible, i need to know if i can subnet the /48 into individual /64 and use it.

Basically, i want to turn 1 ipv4 into a non-dual stack ipv6 only millions of ipv6.

Think is possible or am i dreaming?

Any friendi sim dealer?

Friendi sim dealer a little hard to find, i wonder if anyone here is dealer? I need to buy in bulk.

Mynews stop selling them for no apparent reason. They all (the workers) claim there's practically nobody who buys friendi from them. Some of the foreign worker never heard of it before when i last asked them.

And also friendi is doing a terrible job in promoting their network. Went to some local shops, they all said after they finish the batch they're not selling it anymore, because nobody buys them. NOBODY.

Sim with long validity and num change restriction?

I have a special use case, where I need a bunch of numbers that can also maintain a long validity period. And it must be done as cheap as possible.

The 2nd requirement, is the ability to discard the number once it's deemed useless so that I can have new ones.

It's basically just for receiving sms, and I was suggested this

QUOTE(MakNok @ Dec 26 2016, 09:51 AM)

You have 3 option
(1) MNP to OneXOX for FREE 28 month validity
(2) MNP to Friendi
(3) MNP to Zero Commitment DiGi Ambassador plan.

I then reached out to friendi and asked a few questions. They told me changing a number for the 1st time is free, but 2nd time onwards there's RM 10 charge. I don't understand that logic, why is there a fee for changing number. If they impose a fee for MNP, i still can understand, but changing number is no difference from throwing away my previous number and buying a new sim pack. They still untung RM 5.30 whuut. They are quite unlikely to reply me with a reason.

So my other option here is to keep the friendi number for as long as it is useful, and change it once. The 2nd time, I'll have to register for a new number elsewhere and let the telco handle my cancellation, then I go back to friendi again and get new numbers.

Do telco have any kind of restrictions or a ban in such way?

Maxis terminates free Spotify premium

Maxis Force Quit !

-Terminates their free spotify premium promo without a single warning !

So maxis, how about when you say free, actually TRY to give it free?

And when you want to force quit, actually TRY to inform subscribers about it?

Just this week i found out by shock that maxis is terminating their spotify promo. Without any sort of warning, and I only found out because my bro said they no longer offer it for free.

It's generally OK to discontinue the offer for new subs, but to force everyone that's already sub to the plan to quit and terminate the plan...

Now that's what I call bravo !

Seriously maxis, stop doing stupid things.

/rant end.

How do you watch streaming tv for free?

I've been wondering for some time now, how do the resellers get the China streaming tv installed in the box?

I remember walking past lots of sellers in lowyat claming to have free streaming from any channel including astro. Like the ever once-popular durian iptv (duno now still popular or not).

But those boxes cost a bomb compared to what is selling now at places like taobao aliexpress.

If i can figure out where to DL them android apps, then no need to pay hundreds of $ premium for them to install it.

Ps. If this is not appropriate to ask or not in the correct subforum let me know.

Wifi channel vs Higher Power Router

So i have been testing with wifi channel lately and found it pretty fun and confusing.

I dont have a high power router so I tested with the channels and the results were strange. Possitive some time, then negative the more i play with it.

My question is, if I were to get a higher power router than the default supplied ones from ISP, does the channel even matter anymore?

Maxis 20mbps not reaching it's full potential

So i have been upgraded to 20mbps due to the "loyalty promo" for a [reasonable] price. After a few days of testing, i still can't reach the full 20m and report to them.

Maxis sent technician to my place and I wasn't around so my dad handled it. Knowing my dad he obviously don't know alot of things but he knows it didn't reach the full 20m.

They said it's my copper cable (old building uses this) being too long and old so i will not get the full speed and asked me to shift the modem to nearer the base. (i consented to this ridiculous request).

Here's a few problem they are not willing to admit.

1. The wifi doesn't reach full speed, max being 18m (in which their response is, that's already good enough because you're on wifi. you need to test using direct lan cable)

2. The lan cable also doesnt reach full speed max being 19m but doesn't sustain long (i havent call them up again because i dont wanna hear more excuses).

3. For the wifi speed, they said I need to change to a better router to reach full speed because of wifi noise from surrounding neibors and blah. (yet another BS. I have been in a noiser place but the unifi router handles it properly. In which their response is, the unifi router is different, which means better lah ?! TF they give me this crappy thomsan router?)

4. They tested it from their end which idk how they did and said i am capable of reaching more than 25m (yet another BS. by now i'm pretty tired of typing and hearing excuses).

@Maxis rep. Mind to blow this up even bigger so a manager can call me back and settle this? You don't want your "loyalty" customer to get mad and post neg review all over the place having just signed up for another 2 year contract to only get this shitty service.

This is a no brainer thing to do. But you have to understand your coverage is not 100%.

In simple terms, in case you don't understand and need babytalk, the phone will AUTO SWITCH TO 3G IF THERE IS LOW 4G SIGNAL.

Unless you guys are like chun chun 101% 4G coverage then you can say whatever you want.

Can You Drink Coconut Milk Straight From Carton?

I'm underweight and am trying to gain weight. Since I'm lactose intolerent Ive tried finding alternatives.

On bodybuilding.com almost everyone seem to suggest taking coconut milk.

So I went on a hunt in Giant to look for it. Little did I know it was actually santan.

Opened it up and drank 100ml (out of the 200ml) of it in one shot and I feel super weird. Not only did it taste really really bad, well some may like the taste but uh..

Can you drink from it straight away? My mom said it was used to cook food, like curry. And I was like, oh, isn't this for nasi lemak as well? Whoops.

Then I went searching for what the americans called it "milk", turns out its packaging was completely different, which actually has a bottle opener unlike what is sold here which I need to cut open.

So this is going to cause many people to flame me, but still, read on for people who has logic and common sense.

Don't port out if you still have contract.

There, I said it!

I'm no math guru, and I hate math. But if my simple calculation says, you are throwing money away, you most likely are.

One post got viral about some guy paying the 700 penalty and got a celcom. My dad is still on contract and have 1 year left for iValue with the iphone 6 package.

Sure, out of the hype and impulsive behaviour of the influence of social media and peer pressure (or what have you), my dad wanted to join the bandwagon also.

But after I calculate, it's not worth it. So now he's paying 100 per month, has 2GB of data to use, and never finishes it at all every month. If he decides to terminate, he has to pay 1.2k for the remaining 12 months left of his contract, to get celcom's 10GB (actually 5GB, the extra 5GB is BS, sorry).

Sure, he save 20 bucks. Good or bad? BAD.

Why throw 1.2k at maxis? I ask. Are you gonna use up the 5GB every month? Are you gonna talk on the phone until it explodes? NO. No, no and no.

Suck it up, finish the 1 year, and then say goodbye. Don' act on impulsive behavior. It's like buying property. Calculate, ask questions, if in doubt don't buy it and wait for a better deal.

Edit: It turns out that it might not actually be 1.2k based on the fact that I see many claim it's not the exact monthly figure for the penalty. In such case, I'm wrong and I'll look into bugging maxis for the actual figure. Thanks to those who comment.

Curing Myopia -near sightedness- Naturally

Hello all spectacle wearing people, what's going on?

I'm going to post yet another highly controversial topic, but this time it's about doing experiments on myself. It's easy to write a post when it's something major with proven data, but it's not so easy when it's about me, that's what I realized.

The topic of the day is:
Can you reverse myopia naturally?

Everyone talks about lasik to cure myopia since even 10 years ago. That's the first thing that comes to my mind automatically when I want to cure it. But due to the possible side effects, I keep waiting and waiting for more than 4 years to see if there's any advance version with less risk involved.

Just recently, while doing some random google search and I bump into a video which talks about reversing myopia, and ever since then I suddenly felt cheated by the optometrist (no offense to you guys who's in this line. you're free to express your opinion, but my experience is based on the potential ignorance and lies they tell me).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5Efg42-Qn0

What do you think?

Since most of the explanation and methods are already published by other sites already, I'm just going to highlight some key points according to my own understanding.

Myopia Epidemic:
As you can see in the video, Todd Becker from gettingstronger.org explains that researchers have been conducting theory & experiments on myopia and how it has become an epidemic in recent times. Take for example our neighbor SG, just do a google search and this came up:

Singapore is #1 in the world for the prevalence of childhood myopia in seven to nine year olds. http://www.hpb.gov.sg/HOPPortal/health-article/188
Can't exactly find many sources citing Malaysia, but it has got to do with demographic and us Chinese way of living. http://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2...g-chinese-youth

The very straight forward explanation is due to near work that we do.

About me

I started wearing glasses in primary school I believe. Can't exactly remember how old. Not very studious, but being in a chinese school got no choice la. Mostly indoor, stick to the PC for more than 8 hours a day. Prescription has been rising very fast, and the optometrist always will somehow give a higher power so that it will allow our visual cortex to balance it out (and this is bad, very bad). Now 27 and already -7.5

How myopia develops
I believe we all have a similar history of something like mine. The point I want to highlight is, the higher power than normalized prescription will force your eye to adapt to the new power, therefore weakening it even more. When we first have myopia, it's called pseudo myopia http://endmyopia.org/the-myopia-lie/ and after wearing the first lens it's called lens-induced myopia. It goes on and on, until your eyes gets worse.

What can we do?
The short answer is eye practice. Someone developed a method and Todd Becker and many people then picked it up with different terms. I'll call it Print Pushing, since I watched Todd's presentation first before I found other sites. The idea is basically holding a piece of paper with text, and force your eyes to look at it at the edge of blur. 1-2 hours a day, taking breaks every 15-30 minutes.

There's a bunch of other more detailed stuff we have to deal with too. Like getting a lower prescription glasses and also getting both the eyes to normalize equally. I am still stuck at this phase, so I won't be saying more. You can read more at endmyopia.org where they explain how it works.

Get Cheaper Hepatitis C Treatment In Malaysia

www.msf.org/article/access-patent-challenge-hearing-gilead-hepatitis-c-drug-sofosbuvir-starts-india

Patent.

"Patents for sofosbuvir have been rejected in Egypt, China and Ukraine, and further patent oppositions have been filed in Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Thailand and the EU."

I think Malaysia granted patent to Sofobusvir.

Another point I wanted to highlight:

“Gilead wants the world to think their licensing deals have solved the global problem of access to this medicine, but today countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Brazil are being asked to pay thousands of dollars for sofosbuvir from Gilead, when Indian generic versions of the drug are now available for as little as $335 per 12-week treatment,”

===

The original post where I started writing (which I might change in the future):

Do you have Hepatitis C but have been told that it cost a bomb (84k USD), and that past treatment were with very low success rate plus unfavorable side effects?

Then you need to know that now, you can indeed cure this disease with higher success rate, and it cost less than RM 10k (even I got it for as low as RM 5.4k).

I will update this with more info as I progress and add missing bits when necessary.

The reason why I write this is because there is very little information about this topic when it comes to our country, so I want to spread the information.

Important!

Before you go out and buy the meds, read this first.

Please do not import this or any medication without a doctors' prescription letter. And you need to see a specialist before deciding to go ahead and purchase this, or any other medication. Depending on your genotype, different combination of the generic meds is needed, and they vary in price.

Another point is that our country's personal drug import law set by MOH says 1 person can only bring in 1 month's supply of personal use medication/supplement. If any of the sources tell you they don't need a prescription letter, there's a very high chance the product will be held at kastam, and/or the relevant authorities will give you a warning letter, which I read somewhere you can either be fined, or jailed.

If, however, the doctor you are visiting doesn't know about this new medication and tell you to not believe it, then the doc should be viewed as incompetent if he is truly a specialist. My advice is to change to another doc. The name of the doc that knew and recommended this treatment to my dad is this :

https://www.ramsaysimedarby.com/doctor_deta...al-kanagasabai/ (link updated)

If you cant get accessed to this doc however, here's the method to get the medication and test:

1. Ask your doctor to issue a prescription letter to import in the generics (You need to do blood test first to determine genotype and viral load count, then visit fixhepc.com to check for the generics)
2. Do a periodic blood test to determine viral load count and liver health

Background
My dad is living with Hep C for the past 10 years, and have developed cirrhosis with quite a significant liver damage. We didn't know he had a pretty big liver scarring until he had a big tummy in less than a month. The doc told him it was water retention due to too much sodium in the body, which the liver can't filter and pass.

Our family knew he had Hep C, but as usual, we didn't investigate any further, because he didn't develop any symptom except for tummy bloating. Then the doc told us, there is a new generic that we can import in, that can cure hep c.

Current Situation
Right after the doc told us there's a cure, it's cheaper, and have high success rate, I went to google to search for this so called miracle cure. Firstly, some info about the pill. The patent name is Harvoni, and is patented by Gilead. Harvoni consist of Ledipasvir/sofosbuvir. So why do we need to go through so much trouble to get this? Click read more below in the spoiler.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Gilead charges $1k USD per pill, which when taken for full course of 12 weeks, cost $84k USD.
www.reddit.com/r/scumbagCEOlogic/comments/3lyydk/gilead_sciences_charges_1000_per_pill_94000

Not until recently, Gilead licensed India to produce a lower cost generic for poorer countries, but apparently, Malaysia is not included.
www.smh.com.au/business/the-drug-that-costs-over-1000-that-sells-for-5-in-india-20160102-glya8a.html

So, what can we do? The doc gave us 2 contact that can bring in the generic medication from India. The first quoted me 2.5k USD for 12 weeks treatment (84 pills). I thought, wow that is so cheap compared to 84k USD. But, being Malaysian, I continued to search for a cheaper one. Then I bumped into http://fixhepc.com which is recommended by reddit (gotta love reddit).

You can visit that site for more information on the current situation. Another blog I recommend is
blogs.hepmag.com/gregjefferys

This guy is in my point of view, the pioneer to bringing this information worldwide.
www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-20/hepatitis-c-sufferer-imports-life-saving-drugs-from-india/6712990

Now, I have managed to get the generic pills from Bangladesh. If you ask me, which country should I trust, I can tell you none. This is all by trust, which is the price to pay for something cheap, yet have no money to pay the 84k USD. Fixhepc takes theirs from China, while Greg takes it from India. The one I got from Bangladesh is so far the cheapest, yet the most reliable one at 1.2k USD (which you can see my update below and proof of data from fixhepc).

This is the data of Twinvir compared to the original Harvoni https://fixhepc.com/blog/item/16-testing-pr...ent-safety.html scroll down and you can find the pdf showing it matches the original Harvoni. They're tested in Australia, so I think it should be very safe.

Right now, I have paid and waiting for the medications to be shipped, and hopefully can pass both countries' kastam and we're one step closer to treating my dad.

Personal Update

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

13 Jan
Paid in cash through Western Union. I've never done this type of transaction at all, but that's how foreign workers did their sending/receiving. Price for Twinvir is 96000 Taka inclusive of shipping, and they use USD as the calculation, so I am paying a little bit more. This part is slightly confusing, but the total came up to about RM 5.4k +/-

16 Jan
Friday is their holiday, they sent the shipment on Saturday.

19 Jan
Shipment received for Twinvir by DHL. Very smart of them to do the invoice that way I didn't get any problems from authorities.

21 Jan
My dad started treatment upon visit of doc, which he gave the green light that it's the correct ingredient.

16 Feb
Test done to confirm the liver condition is OK, as in not getting worse but maintaining. The test is not a viral load test yet, as that one is expensive and needs to be tested by MLF which stands for Malaysia Liver Foundation www.liver.org.my So that should be 1 month after the treatment started.

16 Mar
Results came in:

Before:

After:

23 Mar
Ordered a 2nd batch according to doc's recommendation.

28 Mar
Got the new batch. Next update most likely after another 3 months.

Buying process - Sources

This is a concern many people have, including me. The 4 main countries where you can get the generic from is India, China, Bangladesh, Australia.

They vary in price and trustworthiness. You can either fly there and bring back the meds, or import it. Many people have flown to these countries to get it themselves. I chose to import it although both options have their own risk. For the record as stated, I've had no trouble with Incepta Pharmateucals

India
One of the country licensed by Gilead to produce and sell the generic pill. Many companies and 3rd party are selling it. They range from so expensive, to so cheap (compared to other licensed generic manufacurer) you will need to think twice. So the main issue here is whether you can find a trusted source to buy from. The first person that went public about buying it from India is Greg Jefferys. If you are interested to get it from India, my suggestion is to go through him, his email can be found in his blog.

The price he quoted me is more expensive than I would buy from Incepta directly(see below), and he didn't want to recognize the cheaper price I told him about, saying it might be a scam. That's the price to pay for a middle man to do the job, IMO though, you really don't need to go through him and just get it from Incepta. Also another point is, I have posted on fixhepc and the community there including Dr James himself is all negative on the cheaper side of things, but they also don't want to take the effort to do further research on cheaper alternatives.

Bottom line: Only use this option if you're so hard pressed on budget, but you risk your life at the same time.

China
I am not familiar with getting it from China, but fixhepc has given ways to obtain it there. They sell it in powder form, and you would need to get a company that can compound it to the correct dosage. Some people had even managed to DIY it. Fixhepc however, got it from Mesochem, compound it, and then sell it to you.

Bangladesh
There's currently 2 companies that are listed in fixhepc.com as trusted source. The first is Incepta Pharmaceutical, and their Sof+Led product label name is Twinvir. As stated earlier in my post, Twinvir was first to release it in finished form of Sof+Led combo. They get the API from China, compound it, and sell it in finished form. They sent the pills to Australia to be tested by their lab, managed by Dr James Freeman of fixhepc. It turned out to be exact copies of Harvoni. The 2nd company Beacon Pharma is selling a different combo, which is sof/dac, they are cheaper, but due to lesser data being reported than sof+led combo, you don't really see much info online. Sof+Dac is used to treat type 3.

Australia
This is in my opinion the best of the bunch. Firstly, as mentioned earlier it's straight out of fixhepc, and the chances of them being a scam, wrong, mistake, or whatever bad things you can think of is very slim. Secondly, fixhepc is mentioned in lots of big publications, and Greg and Dr James (founder of fixhepc) mentions each other. The current pricing they have quoted me is 1600 USD. There is one caveat which I am not very certain of, is that you can only get it via a redemption etrial as explained here http://fixhepc.com/redemption-3 which might mean there is a chance you might not be qualified. If anyone is willing to share the details with me, I'll be happy to add.

Genotype and it's treatment
This is one area which I have very little knowledge about. So far I've only talked about harvoni which is treating type 1a for my dad, and I haven't much covered the rest unless someone with other type decides to come forward and be the voice for the community. I only post and update what I can, as far as evidence and data is concerned. As you can see, different genotype needs different combination of the treatment. This article linked is about Genotype Specific Treatments http://fixhepc.com/getting-treated/genotyp...-treaments.html

For genotype 1 which is combination of Sofosbuvir + Ledipasvir OR Sofosbuvir + Daclatasvir +/- Ribavirin. The doc didn't recommend sof+dac with riba combo, and obviously I also don't know if it's right or wrong. All I know is fixhepc has said sof+led is generally OK. It is the 2nd most common genotype in Malaysia, with type 3 being the most according to
www.msgh.org.my/resources/managementhepatitisc.htm

For genotype 3 you need Sofosbuvir + Ribavirin OR Sofosbuvir + Daclatasvir +/- Ribavirin. I can only post information but I won't have any evidence nor data, since I have no reason to ship in this combo nor will my dad and I be able to provide any proof of success. If you're type 3 and the doc has suggested you this, please post it here so you can help others too.

Indoor Air Quality

I have been browsing and hunting for information on how to improve indoor air quality for a very long time already. What got me really worked up is the recent haze that lasted the longest since 10+years ago (lost count).

I also have another issue, whereby my room is situated in a very awkward place in an apartment. Talk about bad interior design. This leads to air trapping inside, and refuses to leave. What this means in my room is negative pressure, plus the PC is in my sleeping room, I found a few sites talking about positive pressure vs negative pressure. The amount of dust in my casing is just crazy.

I then tried to search for house renovation expert/consultant to improve IAQ, and I can't find any if at all. The most they provide service is for roof ventilation solution, and those big industrial fans, etc. Since this is apartment, it's no go.

My plan is to install air intake fan to pull in from the living hall. The air quality from my room to hall is really opposite. I step outside, and immediately feel I can live extra 10 years.

What do you think? If you have any contact consultant, please post.
