Possible to revise an existing insurance policy?

Hey all,

Ok, here's my situation:
I have an existing investment-linked policy. This is just some basic life policy, paying rm100 per month and coverage is quite low..around 30k.
Now, after > 10 years my needs changed and I want more protection, as in higher coverage + medical card etc etc.

Now the question:
Is it possible to revise my current policy? As in perhaps to pay more monthly premium in order to get those additional coverage?
I've approached an agent to ask on this. However I was told it is not possible and I was told I need to buy a new policy.

Could somebody give an advise on this? Don't want to get cheated. Thanks in advance!
