1) I would like to deploy Ubuntu 8.04 LTS with Apache/PHP support.
2) The server will only be used locally (LAN enviroment)
3) I wont have any access to the server, (eg. putty) since it wont have access online.
5) The server wont have any access to the internet
6) The server is located in another country where I am currently at.

What is the best way to do it?

1) I install on a server at my side, clone it (with either ghost or acronis true image), will it work this way if both has diffrent hardware.
2) Or are there any ubuntu with pre-LAMP configured?

I manage to setup a web/email server (Linux Ubuntu Hardy Heron)from this site guideline http://www.mysql-apache-php.com/

I have my own domain.
I'm able to send and receive emails using squirrel mail.
The problem is I am unable to retrieve or send mail using Thunderbird or Outlook Express (pop/imap/smtp).
What settings do I need to change so it can be read using 3rd party program?

High CPU usage when using webcam in msn

Hi,
currently on a P4 2.4GHz, 1GB+512MB DDR1 ram
my webcam is VIMICRO 301x

I frequently use webcam in msn (both parties).
all programs are closed except WLM, and the cpu usage is 90-100%

is it bacause of the webcam driver problem/webcam hardware problem.

or will the problem solved by getting a dual core cpu like C2D or AMD X2 ?

How to type streamyx letter of exemption

Has anyone send a letter to screamyx asking for monthly bill exemption, because of the service was down?

(asking this on behalf of a friend of mine)

Situation
=======
- move to another house, therefore went to telekom to submit change of address for the service (telekom & streamyx), they told us everything will be OK in 5 working days

- moved to new place, and waited for a week

- 2nd week, yet still no response. So called up telekom regarding the situation. They said wait.

- 3rd week, got telekom line, but still no screamyx. Did a report at 1-300-88-9515.

- complaining to screamyx continued till the 7th week. and Finally able to use it.

back to topic.
So now I want to write a letter to screamyx requesting(demanding) not be charged for the grace period of the time that i was not able to use it due to their fault.

Does anyone knows the format to type the letter? Or is there any sample?

ok the problem is I want to obtain my pc's [PC1] ip located in my home while im away in office/working place (in Kuala Lumpur), to connect to VNC.

1) I can connect using VNC to control my pc from another location.
2) but due to frequent disconnection, my pc gets a new ip each time it tries to reconnect.
3) how am i able to get my pc's ip from another pc? *(assumtion that no one at my Subang pc)*

Weird idea I came up (personally havent try at the moment)
1) create a torrent pc hosting it.
2) keep the .torrent in portable drive or in my email attactment.
3) run the torrent from the other pc and get the [PC1] IP ?

is there other program that will sort of like email to me of my [PC1] current IP every 30mins?

Lately the electricity bill been way freaking high, the pc is on 24/7 and I was just wondering how much is the estimated electricity consumed? and what would be the normal RM to be paid(MAX) per month.

I notice my PSU ain't "active PFC" does it effect/mean anything?
Is voltage usage the same when the pc is on peak load compared normal load?
