How long can I still use this HDD for?

Just checking with the sifus here. I have this HDD, just wondering how long can I still use it for based on this stat. Everything seems to be working fine at the moment but given that it's almost 10 years, I'm just afraid it might just suddenly die. If the indicators says that everything is Good, nothing much to worry right?

Hi all,

I'm planning to get a new customized PC for work. I generally used it for photo editing, create posters and brochures for my freelance work. Not really into heavy gaming. I have set a budget for 5k+ (including peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, entry level speaker, OS and wifi card) since I plan to give my old PC to my kids who are going to use it for online classes.

I would also need lots of storage to keep my files. Need to check with the sifus here, what is the difference between the BLUE DESKTOP, BLACK DESKTOP & RED NAS from WD? And if getting two 4TB drive is better than getting a single 8TB drive?

I was also thinking that if I were to get smart TV 32' instead of a computer monitor, would it be ok? What will be the potential issues?

Appreciate your advice on what are the specs and recommended parts that I should be looking at? Thank you in advanced

Help with anime costume - Bleach Ichigo

Need some help here. Company is going to have a costume event end next of week, I just went to Times Square and bought the Bleach costume. I'm not really into anime just bought it based on the recommendation of the lady boss.

Noticed that this character also need a mask and a sword. Anyone here can rent it for a day? Or at least advice me where I can find it cheap in KL.

Mycard reader for Ah Longs

Recently someone used a fake IC with my details to apply for a loan. Trying to settle things with them now since the picture they took of the loan taker is clearly not me and they also admitted it.

It got me thinking, shouldn't these guys invest a bit on a card reader with a finger print scanner to prevent losses. At the same time just wondering if they can legally apply for it...

Hi all,

Really need some advice from the experts here to try to decipher the motive of this scammer... sorry for the long story.

Background Story

My phone number used to be a subline from my wife's Maxis account but I have since ported to another Telco (almost two years ago).

Last Sunday noon, I received a call from Maxis KLCC saying someone (let's call him 'scammer') used my IC and produced a photocopy of my wife's IC with a fake authorization letter to get a sim card replacement for my number. Since the KLCC staff noticed that my number is no longer with Maxis, they refused his request. The Maxis staff called me to verify if I have requested for a Sim card replacement, of course I said no. Before the Maxis staff could explained to the scammer, he left the place.

Later at 7pm, the same guy went to Low Yat Plaza Maxis Center to request the same thing. Again I received a call from Maxis asking if I have such request. At the same time my wife's phone (under Maxis) is barred. We called Maxis Call Center to find out what happened, the call center staff explained to us that there were several request made on that day to get the Sim Card replacement. Apparently, a few minutes earlier someone called Maxis to get my wife's phone barred. After a long talk, the call center staff gave us a detailed chronology of what was transpired the whole day. She also suggest we talk to the person in KLCC Maxis.

We went to KLCC to meet the staff who first encountered this person on Monday. Then someone from the security also came over to talk to us. They showed us the copy of the ICs that were used, everything is exactly the same as our IC except the pictures. They also showed us the security footage captured in Low Yat. They refused to give us the details and asked us to make police report instead. Of course we went to make police report but they don't seem to take much interest in it.

Today (Wednesday June 8), I received a call from Maxis staff in Genting saying someone is using my IC and my wife's IC to ask for Sim Card replacement. I said no to them of course.

tl;dr

Here are the things I know as of today:
1. The person has our IC details (the fake IC he produced has our address, IC no and our name correct)
2. The person is able to get through the phone verification to get my wife's number barred.
3. He apparently knows I'm married and the main line (my wife's number) belongs to my wife.
4. He is very persistent to get my number.
5. These few days both my wife and me received many calls from 'Private Number', but hangs up as soon as we picked it up.
6. Police report has been made not sure if they are following up on it.

Now this is beginning to freak me out, I'm wondering why is that guy so persistent to get my number. Hopefully someone here can help to give some advice.

Just a quick update (June 08, 2016 11:40pm):
I called my current telco to enquire if anyone can just bring their IC to their store to request for new Sim card... and they say yes as long as its their IC, and they dun even have the fingerprint to verify the IC... Then I asked if they will at least verify with by calling the number with the current owner, they said that they don't have such procedure...

Scary, at least Maxis will verify the fingerprint and will call the number to verify as part of their procedure. Well, I guess this is why Maxis is more expensive than the other operators. You pay for additional security and better coverage. Guess I'll port back to Maxis. Kudos to Maxis, you have earned my trust.

Went to police station earlier to check on the case, as I suspected the police is not going to take any action. They asked me to refer back to Maxis to investigate. They will only take action once Maxis has done their internal investigation and determine the suspect and Maxis will need to lodge a police report on their own... Guess will need to go back to Maxis again.

Staying loyal to a telco doesn't pay off...

Loyal Celcom customers are missing out on cut-price deals being offered to new customers if they sign up. My father in law has been with Celcom for close to 30 years and yet all these while he has been on the 'old' plan with the crappy deals. No one from Celcom even bothered to inform him about the new offers or offered him to upgrade his plans as such he has been paying more then he should for the past many years and yet Celcom is promoting those so called customer loyalty program. We are also partly to be blamed since we did not really pay attention to his bills until recently.

Staying loyal with a compay that doesn't appreciate you isn't loyalty... it's stupidity. I've asked him to change to different service provider such as Maxis (well at least once in a while when they have new plans their customer service guys do make an attempt to call me and inform me about their new plans to better cater to my usage), but then again my father in law is too loyal to change and we brought him to Celcom to upgrade his plan. Celcom should really appreciate loyal customers like him and not treat him like trash. I think we should have just 'secretly' help him to port to other provider instead.

Building a desktop budget 4k

Need advice on a home desktop around 4k. Will be using mainly for doing graphic stuff. Software used:
Adobe Illustrator
Photoshop
InDesign

Got lots of files to store. Thought of getting 2TB of HD and need lots of RAM coz will be using a few applications at once. Monitor should be at least 23', time to upgrade my 17' CRT....
