[WTA]LGA 1156 vs LGA 1155 Core i3's

All things (PSU, RAM, GC, HDD etc.) being equal I think the cheapest i3 5xx 1156 is a bit cheaper than i3 21xx 1155 and (hopefully) there's a bit of time left before the old 1156's are pulled out of the market completely -think the mobos and CPU's are gone now from the usual price lists, but there seemed to be some left @ LYN Garage Sales and Lelong.

The only positive I can gather from buying the i3 5xx's is their overclockability (is that even a word?) and (a little bit) cheapness -2nd hand rig could probably be cheaper...

So if I wanna upgrade my current system (LGA 775 C2D etc.) should I go for the current best low end (LGA 1155 Core i3 21xx) or the former (LGA 1156 Core i3 5xx) or maybe even Phenom XII's? Any thoughts?
