Suggestion Needed: S-IPS monitors

Hey guys, I'm looking for a decent 24" S-IPS monitors (I do mainly photo editing and designs for print so will need a color-correct monitor).

From random reading and asking around, so far only Dell provides reasonably priced IPS monitors.

Are there any other brands that have IPS monitors sold in Malaysia?

Thanks!

Monitor Arms

Hey guys,

I've been looking for monitor arms. The ones that you attach to your LCD monitor (usually via the VESA mount), and another attached to the table, that you can move around and rotate the monitor).

Does anyone know where can I get this item? Directions to retailer name, online/offline website/contact would be awesome.

I don't know what these are calls, but since they look like arms to me, I call them "monitor arms".

Reason is that my table is small (my room is small too) and I find putting a big LCD screen on the desk takes up some real estate space.

Appreciate any pointers!
MacBook Pro 13" - external display blinks?

Hey guys,

I just got a MacBook Pro 13" about two weeks ago. There's a very funny phenomenon that happens to my setup. I've gone through most of the similar issues on the Apple support boards, but they are mostly either dated way back in 2009/2008 or referring to the older macbook pro with 8600GT.

My Setup:

My MacBook Pro is the one with 2.4 Core2Duo and nVidia 320M (with shared 256MB video memory), and 4GB of RAM

I have two monitors, one I use at home and one I use in the office,

The one at home is LG 204WT (20" - 1680x1050 native resolution)
The one at the office is Dell E228WFP (22" - 1680x1050 native resolution)

I connect to both monitors via Apple's Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor.
I connect to both monitors while my MacBook Pro is in clamshell mode (with power connected, and external USB keyboard & mouse)

The Phenomenon:

When at home (with my LG):
Perfect working order, no effects or weird things happen

When at the office (with the Dell)
The monitor will go blank and then comes back right after (it's sort of 'blinks' for about a second or so).
This happens at random intervals of as often as every minute or as sparse as every once an hour. It is very distracting, as I am doing design work and sometimes I have to concentrate hard on screen, and it had to blink.

I use Photoshop CS5 primarily for my job.

At first, I thought the GPU heated up (because Photoshop does use OpenGL acceleration) - so I opened the lid to let it cool down - but the thing is, the unit is not even hot, and it doesn't make any difference. My Office aircond is blasting at 18C all the time too.

It would be strange if it's a heat issue because my room back home is warm, and I don't have an aircond, and I do equally heavy kind of work as well - but the LG never, ever, blinks.

My question is, does anyone have experienced this phenomenon on the MacBook Pro 2010 models?

I've been looking up and down for solution, cause, or fix to this - some forumers have suggested that I try using the VGA out instead, since most of them doesn't face that problem anymore after that. I haven't try this one because I haven't bought the VGA to DisplayPort adaptor (can VGA supports 1680x1050 anyway?)

I'm seeking help from MacPro's out there if you have information or fix for this problem.

Thank you!

[WTA] Shock Absorber Types

Hello people.

I want to ask what's the difference between:

- Gas Shock Absorber
- Oil Shock Absorber
- Adjustable Shock Absorber
- Reflex Shock Absorber

I'm using a Wira, and thinking of installing one set of new shock absorbers (only for normal driving and comfort). Can any one recommend any? Budget is low (say aruond 600-700 for everything)

Silly question : How do we get rid of those water drop marks on the windscreen, other windows and side mirrors? I've tried washing them over and over and they don't go away

Thanks!

Hello guys,

I havent been really into photography, even though I have a lot of interest in it ever since I'm 15. So lately I've been wanting to shoot again, and here's some results of my initial sessions.

I would appreciate any form of feedbacks, especially regarding techniques and composition.

Many thanks!

=============

Note: Images are only resized smaller. No level/color/sharpening adjustments are made at all

For starters, here's a few pic from Bangsar LRT station (I was bored at that time and go trigger happy around the platforms):

(Yes, I like symmetrical photographs.
