Entering the O&G field

Hi there.

I am a native Sarawakian and have been working as a Factory Engineer for more than 2 years and mostly deals with machine commissioning, troubleshooting, cost-reduction and improvement projects. I am planning to enter the Oil & Gas field because of several reasons (mostly because of the money lol) and I am wondering if this is possible to be done without any connections?

And if it is, is there any tips or courses that I can take to make me more attractive to any prospective employers?

Hi.

I am a bachelor's degree graduate in mechanical engineering and I have been working for more than a year at my current company. The problem is, the company never send me for any training at all and I am basically doing the same routine work everyday. Is this what to be expected of a job for fresh grads?

Secondly, I have been doing a little bit of job hunt and a company called Pertama Ferroalloys which is based in Samalaju, Bintulu contacted me for a phone interview. I passed the phone interview and they wanted to have a second interview at their location (my current location is in Sibu fyi). I heard that Bintulu is an expensive place to live in and Samalaju is more than 1 hour drive from Bintulu town. So I would like to know what are the benefits this company can offer and will it be worth it?

hi guys.

I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering last year and after that, I got hired by a local company. I was given the position of a production trainee during the 6 months probation period with a pay of RM1650. After my probation period ends next month, they are offering me the position of Assistant Production Supervisor with a decent pay of RM2.2k.

But the problem is, when I tried to search for vacancy for the same position on jobstreet, most of them require a diploma or less. So is it okay for me to settle for less or should I jump ship?

I am okay with both choices btw but I'm afraid it would affect my future career development

i planned to sell off my i3 3220 (bought on 3/3/2013) and upgrade to a better one since i am going to use solidwork and autocad on my desktop.

1. can anyone tell me the market price for it?
2. assuming that i am willing to add rm200 together with what i earned from my i3, which processor should i get?
2. or should i sell it together with my p8h77-m le and upgrade to haswell/use amd processor?

and i am not planning to do any overclocking.

black screen after installing gpu driver

my brother used my pc to play games when i was sleeping and then he didnt shut it down. he just put it to sleep and when i tried to start the pc the next morning, problem occur.
everything is normal, the bios showed up, but after the starting windows logo, the monitor shows nothing. i saw a blank screen instead of the login page. here are the steps that i took:

1. took the graphic card out and tried booting up by using the internal graphics and it worked.

2. enter safe mode with the graphic card installed and uninstalled the graphic card driver. used drives weeper to make sure anything related to the driver is deleted and
reinstalled the driver (i used installer from the provided cd and latest one from sapphire website) - didnt work

3. update bios to the latest one - same result

4. clean installed windows. same problem occurred after i installed the gpu driver

my pc specs:

asus p8h77 mle
intel i3 3220
sapphire hd6790 1gb gddr5
1x4gb kingston 1333mhz valueram
gigabyte powerock ax 600w
windows 7 32 bit

edit: i realised that when the blank screen occur, the hdd activity led didnt light up.
