BSG MY vs PH Showmatch

Hi, folks!

Now that I have internet, I promised myself to get this plan of mine going.

As the title says, this will be a Malaysia vs Philippines showmatch. And we're gonna start of with the BSGs--Bronze, Silver and Gold leagues. (If this goes great, we're gonna up the ante to Plat/Dia and M/GM), but for now, it will be BSG only).

So, to get this thing going, I would need 5 of you BSGs to sign up.

I've just gotten a hold of my good friend in the Philippines who will rally the Pinoy side of things.

We plan to hold this early May. I will be streaming, of course.

This will be it for now, details forthcoming.

February 28 HotS Balance Patch

Source: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/11884068394

QUOTE

After testing in the current balance test map, watching current pro level matches, gathering your feedback, and hearing from pro players, we’ve decided that another balance update is needed soon.

Currently, we’re thinking of waiting on the increase to Tempest damage vs. structures. While we believe the issue of long, drawn out Swarm Host plays in late game PvZ is still something we’d like to solve, we’re just not 100% sure if the Tempest +structure damage is the right change, and we’re discussing what might be the best change to help solve this.

We’re also going to hold off on the increase to Blink’s cooldown duration. After testing this change, we felt it might be too large a nerf to move forward with right now. We’ve also made several Protoss-related changes recently, and want to take some time to see how they’ll play out after we release this balance update.

Here are the changes that we are ready to make right now:

Widow Mine splash damage increased from 40 to 40 +40 shields
We’ve seen a little confusion surrounding this change and we’d like to clarify that it does not change the Widow Mine’s single target damage. As for the splash damage, this is how it’ll work:

• Up to 1.25 radius, splash damage will increase from 40 to 40 +40 vs. shields.
• From 1.25 to 1.5 radius, splash damage will increase from 20 to 20 +20 vs. shields.
• From 1.5 to 1.75 radius, splash damage will increase from 10 to 10 +10 vs. shields.

Hydralisk attack delay decreased from .83 to .75
We believe this change is good for all three match ups after testing. In ZvP, it seems to make a significant difference even though it’s turning out to be not as big as we initially thought before we started testing.

Mothership Core vision decreased from 14 to 9
After testing, this change is turning out to be quite a bit of a nerf for Protoss in terms of early scouting. It also makes the army vs. army case a bit weaker for Protoss in terms of the vision the Mothership Core provides, especially when vision is critically needed, such as during Feedback vs. EMP battles.

We feel confident about these changes, but if you have any last minute feedback otherwise, please let us know as soon as possible. Just to reiterate, we’re still looking into late game Swarm Host usage, even if there’s no change for it with this upcoming balance update.

We are targeting Friday, February 28 for this balance update, but if the date changes, we’ll make sure to let you know. We know there are several ongoing tournaments right now, but we wanted to move forward with this update as soon as possible. While there’s never a perfect time to release a new balance update, we wanted to let you know what’s changing as early as we could, and did our best to find a date that wouldn’t impact any major events on patch day. Thank you for your participation during balance testing, and we will be looking forward to hearing from everyone.

NGD: Sterling by Music Man JP70

Hello, fellow musicians!

After waiting for almost a year for this, I have finally gotten my Sterling JP70-TGB. For specs, click here.

As you may know, Bentley is the official distributor of SbMM guitars here in Malaysia. They're even listed on the official SbMM website. Bentley carries a number of SbMM's guitar and bass product lines but they don't carry the JP70, unfortunately. On my last inquiry with them regarding the JP70, they were willing to ship a unit for me for the price of 4000RM. As soon as the guy from Bentley in Mutiara Damansara told me that, I walked away without even thanking them for their time. Asking 4000RM from me for a JP70 is just stupid customer service. But no, I won't boycott them, I still need to buy strings from them. That's all Bentley's good for me now.

So, anyway, I got it last January 4 from BGW Guitars in Singapore, owned and managed by a gentleman named Godfrey. Google BGW Guitars and easily you'll find their Facebook account, official website and blog.

I first contacted Godfrey early December 2013 after finding them listed as the official SbMM distributor for Singapore, and they even have a JP70 on stock, but with the Transparent Purple Burst (TPB) finish. So, yeh, I sent him an email and gave him a call, and he told me that he has 2 JP70 guitars arriving around mid-December, and one of them is the Trans Green finish. And as soon as I heard that, I offered to send him a downpayment so that the guitar would be absolutely reserved for me. Godfrey, being the gentleman that he is, told me that a downpayment is no longer necessary and that he'll hold on to the guitar for me for a month, as a gentleman's agreement.

I'd have gotten the guitar the following weekend but I had prior engagements for all the Saturdays of December, and Godfrey's store is closed on Sundays. Then my boss wouldn't let me take some time-off from work, so I had to wait until January 4th to travel to Singapore and pick my JP70 up.

So came January 4th, and I arrived at BGW Guitars. Godfrey took me to an upstairs room and handed me the JP70 to test on an EVH amp, handed him 800SGD (around 2100MYR) a few minutes later then traveled back to PJ on a bus with a grin on my face. And before leaving, Godfrey advised me that they had done a standard setup on the JP70 and strung with new Ernie Ball strings. So that was a bonus.

So about the JP70. I wanted the JP70 not only because I'm a big Dream Theater and John Petrucci fan, but mainly because I love how the guitar's body felt on me, as I also own a JP60 (which I bought from Bentley in December 2012). I love how my picking arm rests on the contoured forearm scoop. I also have a Yamaha RGX guitar and its body contour is at an angle (like most guitars) and my picking arm just slides off of it, especially during sweaty gigs. So the JP60's scoop felt very good for me. I have tried the Ibanez 927QM and the Iron Label 7 strings, but they just felt different, and so unlike the JP60 that I've grown accustomed to. I knew I really had to get the JP70. (On that note, while the SbMM JP100 is quite enticing with the Dimarzio pickups, the forearm contour scoop was removed in favor of the traditional angled contour)

And I'm glad I did. Because the only real difference between my JP60 and JP70 is the extra string. And it wasn't very difficult to transition to. Another plus point for me is the truss rod adjustment that's located in between the end of the fretboard and the neck pickup. Makes adjusting a lot easier compared to the traditional guitars where the adjustment is located at the headstock and under a cover that you have to unscrew first.

The bridge on this guitar is not as high-tech as the ones on the EBMMs, but it does the job. Despite having locking tuners, the strings may go slightly out of tune, and that's with some whammy bar wanking a la Steve Vai. But then again, I'm no Steve Vai so I don't wank the bar as much. I use it mainly for flutters and some vibrato. Bending and overbending on the strings may also cause it to go out of tune, but also very slight, and very rarely. I might consider getting a Tremol-No unit, but it's not a life or death necessity for me at this time.

Case candy is the standard 3mm and 1mm Allen (hex) wrenches and a 6 inch long rod for the truss rod adjustment. And, of course, an 2013 SbMM catalogue.

The humbucker pickups on the JP70 are pretty high-powered, and sound nice clean and dirty. Here are a few soundbytes (pardon the sloppy playing):

A blues-based solo that I always play when I doodle on my guitar. I played it 3 times to demonstrate the sound of the bridge pickup, the middle position and the neck pickup, in that order:

http://soundcloud.com/migraineboy23/7-pickups

Here's the same solo, played on the JP60, same order as above: bridge, middle and neck pickups:

http://soundcloud.com/migraineboy23/6-pickups

Back to the JP70, but this time, clean (overdrive channel on amp is off). I played the first few seconds of the intro to Dream Theater's A Change of Seasons. Again, bridge, middle, and neck.

http://soundcloud.com/migraineboy23/cos-clean

And of course, the gritty part after the acoustic intro of A Change of Seasons, played using the bridge pickup only:

http://soundcloud.com/migraineboy23/cos-dirty

Please note that I recorded this with the guitar straight to my Peavey Backstage II 10-watt practice amp. Overdrive set at around 7.5, Volume at 1, High EQ at 7 and Low EQ at 7.5. The amp connects via the Headphone Out jack to my laptop's Microphone In using a male-male stereo cable, and using Adobe Audition CS6 as my DAW. This isn't my normal recording setup though. I used to do have my Zoom G7.1ut as my USB interface to the DAW, but somehow it sounded like crap today. I guess I need to re-configure my patches on it.

I had originally planned to make a video, but I guess I'll just do it after I re-configure my Zoom.

A little funny thing I noticed though. The JP60's whammy bar is made from a metal rod that's almost 1mm thicker than the JP70's whammy bar. Not a big deal though, but it could have helped to have them in one size, because, in the remote chance that I lose one of the whammy bars, I can't use the other one on both guitars. I guess I have to be careful not to lose either of them.

After the JP70, I don't think I'll buy another guitar, although a small voice inside my head (its name is GAS) is telling me that I want another JP60, but this time the Pearl Red Burst finish. But a more realistic purchase would be to replace the pickups on my current JP60 and JP70 guitars. I'm thinking of the Dimarzio Crunch Lab and Liquifire set for the JP60 and the Dimarzio Illuminator set for the JP70.

So there. Thanks for your time in reading this post and just post a reply if you have some questions.

PS. Pics attached below.

Balance Test Map Incoming

BNet Forums Source

QUOTE

We've been considering putting together an off-season patch that could follow the WCS Finals at BlizzCon, in hopes of increasing diversity in StarCraft II. Before we make any big decisions, we’d like to play some balance test maps with you, to see how some stark changes play out. As always, this isn’t final. This is testing.

So here are the changes we're currently considering testing:

Mech ground and air attack upgrades combined
We've been looking at this for a long time now, and it feels like a solid step in the right direction.

Widow mine splash radius decreased from 1.75 to 1.1
We'd like to push out the Widow Mine a little bit and bump up the Siege Tank so that bio play becomes more interesting. Ultimately, we believe a mix of Widow Mines and Siege Tanks with your bio army will be a lot more fun to watch than just Widow Mines with bio alone.

Siege tank attack period decreased from 3 to 2.7
Bio play may be more interesting with the Widow Mine change and this buff. Not only that, we believe Terran mech armies can be a lot more viable because faster attack speed naturally means Siege Tanks will be better against their hard counters.

Oracle cost decreased from 150/150 to 150/100
Protoss feels like it has been playing too defensively (outside of Warp Prism harasses). We’re seeing Oracles only being used in the early game, and not much during any other stage of the game. We hope by reducing the gas cost of the Oracle, they’ll be used more throughout the game.

Dark Templar movement speed increased from 2.813 to 3.375
We believe that Dark Templars could be more interesting to watch if it's not just a matter of the opponent being prepared or not. Even when their opponents are prepared, we believe by increasing Dark Templar’s movement speed, there could be more interesting interactions, such as dodging out of detection range more often

Roach speed upgrade also increases the burrowed roach movement speed from 1.41 to 2.25
We just don’t see Tunneling Claws coming into play much. There’s some really cool micro potential with burrow-moving Roaches, and we'd like to see how this goes in a test map.

Again -- none of these are final adjustments, and we’re considering others. We're probably going to publish a balance test map soon, so please give us your feedback as soon as possible.

As always, thank you very much!

Probably the sure thing is that a balance patch will be released after the WCS 2013 Finals in November.

I like all the proposed changes except those for the Oracle and Dark Templar (Blizz wants Protoss to be even cheesier than it already is) and for the Roach, because it feels too random to make a change like this. Even the TL.net polls say that the proposed changes to the Oracle, DT and Roaches are a "thumbs down".

So, what do you guys think?

Upcoming Balance Patch

Source

QUOTE

Hello everyone,

We thought it would be good to give another update on balance.

We still believe TvZ late game is tough for Zerg right now, but we'd like to approach the fix/fixes in steps than going with big jumps that might potentially break other things.

Therefore, we'll be looking to push out the Overseer speed buff change, continue testing additional changes on the balance test map as needed, and we'll see how the Overseer speed buff change affects the game before making another call.

Another popular area you guys bring up these days and that we agree with is making mech more viable. We will continue testing the mech upgrades change, or other changes if needed, in order to really figure out what the best direction for mech is.

Thank you and please look forward to a balance patch soon with this change:

Overseer
The Pneumatized Carapace upgrade now increases Overseer movement speed from 1.88 to 3.375 (previously 1.88 to 2.75.)

Here's how this change pans out relative to other units:

QUOTE

- Overseers now can escape Stalker following (old Overseer at 2.75 against 2.95 Stalker)
- Overseers now can escape Viking following (Viking is still 2.75 speed)
- Overseers now can follow Mutalisks 22% easier and faster
- Overseers also can follow more normally Roaches / Lings on creep
- Stimmed Marines can run at 3.375 speed, so it means that they will less shoot at escaping Overseer because there are small stop-pauses when Marine shoots

Please note that while David Kim's post only mentions an Overseer change, it did not mention that the next balance patch will only have this one change. DK may yet add stuff to this upcoming patch, so stay tuned.

So what do you think, folks?

Season 4 Lock & Preliminary Season 5 1v1 Map Pool

Source: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/10628112/

QUOTE

2013 Ladder Season 4 is drawing to a close, and all ladders will be locked soon.

Here’s what this means for you:

- During the 2013 Season 4 lock, you can’t be promoted or demoted from your current league or division, and your bonus pool stops growing.

- Though you’ll be locked to a league and division, you'll still be able to play out your remaining bonus pool and compete for standing within your division until the end of the season.

- If you're pursuing a league promotion, then you still have a chance to get there. The 2013 Season 4 lock will go into effect on August 19 9:01AM CEST.

The hidden ratings used to determine promotions and demotions will continue to be used for matchmaking purposes, and will continue to update during the 2013 Season 4 lock. So if you play significantly better or worse than your assigned league at the time of the lock, you may find yourself in a different league when 2013 Season 5 begins (after you play your first placement match). Your games during the lock still count.

Season 5 will begin at 09:01AM CEST August 26, 2013, right after the conclusion of the WCS 2013 Season 2 Finals at gamescom. Season milestone rewards will be locked in at this time, and bonus pools will reset. The game will continue doing matchmaking and league placement using results from the previous season.

We will have an updated map pool for Season 5, and we’re happy to announce that the 1v1 portion of the map pool will mirror the map pool used in all regions for WCS Season 3. We’ll have more specifics on map pool changes for you soon.

With the beginning of Season 5, we will be applying a free character name change to all accounts that do not have one available at that time. Character name changes do not stack (you can only have one free name change at a time), so if you’ve been thinking about changing your name in StarCraft II, you have until August 26 to make that decision.

To learn more about this year’s ladder season and related subjects, check out our League, Ladders, and Seasons FAQ.

Just a note, folks. Season 4 lock will start August 19 4:01PM Malaysia time. Then Season 5 starts exactly 1 week after, at August 26 4:01PM Malaysia time.

And here are the preliminary changes to the 1v1 map pool. Please note: PRELIMINARY, meaning NOT FINAL!

Source: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/9573037275#1

QUOTE

We heard and agree with feedback from many of you that a complete alignment on the 1v1 map pool across all 3 regions as well as ladder would be cool to try at least for 1 season to check if this direction is better.

We've been discussing with all of our partners on what exact maps to have next season and here's the current list we're thinking on.

Removed Maps:
Neo Planet S
Newkirk Precinct TE
Red City LE
Star Station
Korhal Sky Island LE

3 new maps:
Yeonsu - new TL map contest map

Frost - new TL map contest map

Polar Night - new GSL map

4 returning maps:
Akilon Wastes
Belshir Vestige
Derelict Watcher
Whirlwind

Just wanted to let you guys know asap also in order to hear more feedback. Thanks

So new season, folks! But I still can't play because no UNIFI! Damn you, TM!

I like the new maps. Looks very, hmm, Brood War-y. I never really liked the maps that were removed. Except for Neo Planet S. I kinda like that one. But that's just my opinion.

What do you think, folks?

Possible changes for balance test map - 12 August

Since no one has made a topic on this yet:

Source: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/9628133352#1

QUOTE

We're looking to start testing more changes on a test map so we can better prepare to make tweaks if they’re needed in the future. Please understand: as always, we’re not proposing final changes with this balance test map. If and when we do decide to make any balance changes, we will definitely let you know.

1. Overseer speed buff (after upgrade)

TvZ feels quite balanced until the very late game when there are so many skirmishes and so many Widow Mines. We want to keep the really exciting gameplay while finding ways to help out Zerg in those specific battles. Having to micromanage your army in every engagement, morph new Banelings, manage 4-5 (or more) bases, and morph new Overseers can be a bit too much. So we’re going to test giving Overseers a speed buff after the speed upgrade is purchased, so that we keep the early- and mid-game the same while specifically helping out the Zerg in the later stages. They still wouldn't move as fast as say, Mutalisks, but perhaps late game TvZ goes more evenly if Overseers don't lag behind and get killed in most late engagements.

2. Combine mech ground and air upgrades

We don't think Terran is struggling, but do think mech in general has been weak throughout HotS. We tested this specific change a bit in the beta, and we have some idea of how much better mech will be, but a lot has changed since then, so we'd like to actually have players playtest it again.

Right now, it's looking like the only area where Terran might be weak is late game PvT, but it’s debateable. If so, this change would address that area, because upgrading Vikings that are really core in the matchup will also help with the Hellbat transition in the late game.

3. Vipers start with full energy

We’ve been discussing various options for the Zerg both internally and with top players and casters around the world, and we feel that this change might be a good place to start testing.

We don't know yet whether we want to increase the rate of Vipers’ spells, and thought it might be cool if Vipers come out of the box at full strength, so their first use has a much bigger impact. It’s possible that we can both increase the strength of Zerg in the late game and bring back a fun strategy that we’re seeing a bit less lately.

Again, please remember none of these changes are final. We're still constantly watching our ladder data and the highest level tournament games. As we all know, something that looks overpowered right now can change for top players in a matter of 1-2 weeks. We want to know as much as possible about how changes like these play out, so we’re ready when changes are needed.

Thank you!

Now my comments:

These possible changes come at the wake of Polt's 4-0 buttrape of Jaedong in the just-concluded WCS AM Season 2 Finals.

1. Overseer speed buff (after upgrade) - and/or a buff to sight radius would be nice. Nonetheless, a speed buff after upgrade would still be helpful against mass widow mines even in the mid-game.

2. Combine mech ground and air upgrades - reading the BNet comments, one user said "HELLO SKYTERRAN!". This would be a welcome dynamic to Terran. When the T goes Mech, he could transition to Air after investing a few resources towards Starports. I would be interesting to know what changes to the mineral/gas cost the balance team would make if the mech ground and air upgrades are finally combined. But personally, this is a huge Armory buff and I could only think that there should be a cost and duration increase.

3. Vipers start with full energy - one BNet comment said "so i can feedback them even sooner". Yep that's the drawback to this. However, the benefit of this buff is that, we shall see more Viper use, which means the player with better micro is rewarded more. TvZ will likely start to showcase ghosts for EMP

And finally, in case you forgot, let me read this important line to you again:

QUOTE

..please remember none of these changes are final..

Constructive input is welcome.

I only read it on TL.net before coming to work and thought I could copy it off TL from work, but, no thanks to company firewall, you will have to bear with me.

(If someone can reply and quote the whole battlenet post on here, I'll be glad to update my post with these details.

Full patch notes available on BattleNet

Also, please enjoy this video of the patch's highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzcOXnr12dk

<Edit: embedded video removed>

Please note that this incoming patch is NOT A BALANCE PATCH (so please, do not start whining about balance), but fixes a lot of bugs and provides tweaks to the observer interface, which is AMAZING!

Edit: fixed Youtube link

Double edit: Youtube link still gets an error

MigraineBoy's Replay Review Thread

Hello everyone!

I made a few reviews months back with the first batch of replays from the first week of the first season of the LYN Premiere League. I thought of posting on those threads but I saw it better to create a separate thread for it. So here are my reviews for the rest of the replays. And there are quite a lot of them.

Again, like my previous review, I do not intend to bash anyone’s style of play. These reviews mainly highlight what a player did well and what he could have done better (as opposed to calling them "mistakes"), so that in our own games, we could apply these points for our own improvement. Any comments on my reviews are welcome, so please let me know, and when possible, please quote what I mentioned so we could discuss further.

Most importantly, I do not claim to be the best player on the planet. So take my words with a grain of salt. I do not claim to be knowledgeable in all the match ups, but I take the time to do the research before I do any theory-crafting.

To properly review these games, I watch each replay at least 4 times: first as a spectator, then again for each player’s point-of-view, then finally as a spectator in case I missed anything after the first 3 reviews.

These reviews are a very good avenue for every one of us to discuss strategies. Despite being played on Wings of Liberty, I still believe that the little things we did then could still be used in Heart of the Swarm.

So enjoy and thanks for taking the time to read!

PS. I'm behind in reviewing these replays (simply because I really take time to review each replay, even the very long ones!), so here's what I've done so far and I will add another review every day.

PSS. Yes, my LYNforum name is EnTaroAdun23, but I've recently changed my Bnet in-game name to MigraineBoy, so from here on out, I'll be using this name to refer to myself.

Balance Update

http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/8006134/W..._2012-12_4_2012

QUOTE

While we agree that Infestors are being used too abundantly in many games, we are aiming to address this concern carefully to ensure that we don’t completely discourage the use of Infestors.

Generally speaking, we want to slightly reduce Fungal Growth in all three matchups, and we feel reducing the casting range would help us achieve this goal. Additionally, we anticipate that the reduction in health for Infested Terran eggs will be most noticeable in the PvZ matchup when Psi Storm is used, and feel that the Raven change helps Terran players in late game TvZ scenarios and has the potential to introduce new Terran late game strategies.

On December 4, after a brief maintenance period in each region, the following balance changes will take effect globally:

Terran
Raven seeker missile upgrade removed.

Zerg
Infested Terran eggs health down from 100 to 70

Fungal Growth range down from 9 to 8

Again, to be clear, these changes will take effect after a short maintenance in each region is complete, and neither a patch nor any other special action will be required to experience them in-game.

Our plan is to apply this balance update and monitor the effects of these changes. The extensive testing and quality of feedback we’ve received on the last two balance maps have allowed us to make this call, however, please keep in mind that our goal with this patch is not to make sudden changes which could have a major impact on play, but to nudge balance in the right direction. With Heart of the Swarm launching in March, we will have more time to address balance concerns further if necessary.

Thank you for helping us playtest and sharing your feedback on the last two balance maps.

It's already live on NA. SEA should follow soon.

Infested terran egg nerf means more psi storm over my infested terran eggs. I'd rather have the protoss waste their high templar energy on my infested terrans than over my infestors, roaches and broodlords.

Fungal growth change, according to what I've read will be somewhat huge. Ghosts and Collosus now outrange infestors in this regard. Ghosts will be useful again in TvZ.

We'll see a lot more ravens as harass units now, throwing their HSMs on mineral lines. The 1-1-1 just got deadlier.

Overall a good patch, I think. TvP and TvZ got a little bit more interesting.

So, any thoughts?

BSG only : MY vs PH Showmatch

Original Post:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I have contacted my friend in the Philippines and have instructed him to gather at least 7 bronze-silver-gold (BSG) players to play a showmatch against MY-based BSG players.

I am a Gold player myself, however I have decided not to play, but instead cast this event.

As we are still in the planning stages, we have yet decided on what the format will be. It may be any of the following:

1. Proleague-type - 7 players per team. Players change after every game, best of 7.

2. GSTL-type - 9 players per team. All-kill format (winner stays on), best of 9.

3. MCSL-type - 4/5 players per team. Each 1v1 is a best of 3. Team that wins 3 best-of-3 series wins the match.

No date has been set yet, but the best time to play this showmatch will be a Friday or Saturday night.

So what I need now are at least 7 BSG players who would like to play against the Filipinos in a Malaysia vs Philippines showmatch.

We want to keep this clean and fair, so if you are BSG, please reply with your in-game name and character code in SEA so we could do a player audit. I will also post the in-game names and character codes of the Philippine team who have agreed to join so that you could take a look at their profile.

At this time, I will need 10 players. We would need the extra names in case another player won't be available.

Hoping for your participation!

If this catches on, I could also easily set-up a Plat/Diamond and a Master/GM showmatch as well.

Thanks!

Update:

Tentative date of event: January 11, 12, 18 or 19 (2013)
Time: TBA

Format: GSTL-type best of 9 all-kill format

Players required: 5 + 1 alternate (including team captain)

Server: SEA only

Map Pool: Blizzard's 2013 Season 1 1v1 Map Pool:
- Akilon Flats
- Cloud Kingdom LE
- Daybreak LE
- Newkirk District
- Ohana LE
- Antiga Shipyard
- Condemned Ridge
- Entombed Valley

Starting Map: Cloud Kingdom LE
Loser picks next map
Set 9 Map: Cloud Kingdom LE (in the event the match goes 4-4)

Leave your in-game name and character code to confirm your participation.
Possible Infestor Nerf and Raven Buff

I don't see this posted yet, so I'm gonna post it now and see what you think.

From http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/7922533/C...ing-11_20_2012:

QUOTE

We’ve recently published a custom version of Antiga Shipyard, called "Antiga Shipyard (1.5.3 Balance)," in which we’re testing small balance changes to StarCraft II. Our plan is to first consider these, and then potentially test additional changes. Here’s the situation:

We've heard plenty of feedback recently from pro players and the community about powerful Zerg strategies.

Globally, at both the pro and non-pro levels, we’re not seeing significant balance issues.

We don't think there’s a large problem here, but we do agree that it’s worth trying to make things better by allowing some different options for players facing Zerg opponents.

As always, we want to make minor changes that open up tactical play, if possible.

Here’s what we’re testing:

Fungal Growth no longer affects Psionic units. (Sentry, High / Dark Templar, Archon, Warp Prism, Mothership, Ghost, Queen, Infestor)

By making Psionic units immune to Fungal Growth, Infestors will need to be better protected by supporting units and will become somewhat more vulnerable to High Templar and Ghosts.

Raven Seeker Missile no longer requires an upgrade.

We’ve been discussing the design of the Seeker Missile for a while, and want to see it reach its potential. However, we don’t want to go overboard with the Raven. This change, if we settle on it, is something that will promote slightly more Raven usage, but shouldn’t completely rework the Terran late game.

We’re considering some other changes, but we want to tackle these first. They feel suitable for testing, and in particular, we’re looking for higher level players to playtest with us.

In addressing the metagame in the near future, we’re taking the time to fully determine which changes will work best together, and we're not looking for first impressions. Please playtest the new map thoroughly and join us in this discussion thread with your feedback.

So what do you guys think?

LYN, discuss. I'll write another post to provide my opinion.
