Getting online skills/courses/certificates

I'm a Finance/Mathematics fresh graduate, looking to work with computers (big data, data analyst, statistics).
One month into job hunting I found out that most companies require additional skills such as Macro (Excel), SQL, Python, Oracle, R, SAS and some other specific skills I don't understand.

Is it recommended to invest some money into online classes, get a certificate (some require extra cost), and reapply to those companies?
How reliable are these self-learnt/online classes? Or the recruiters prefer proper work experience/IT graduates?

I'm from Ipoh, was applying for jobs in Penang, starting from big reputable companies, to smaller, and smaller companies every week (either rejected, still processing, or no response).
I have not started searching in KL (yet) because I have more friends in Penang. A month of leeching my parents is making me worried.

Any advice/recommendation is greatly appreciated,
Thanks

Phone call for pilihan raya 'survey'

I'm not sure whether I'm posting this in the correct thread, but my friends and I are getting called to do a survey regarding election.

Polite lady/guy who speaks Malay: "Hi, I'm from CPI (or something I can't hear clearly), I would like to do a survey regarding pilihan raya, it's just 2 minutes"
I just agreed.
She continued: "If the election is tomorrow, which party will you vote for? 1. Barisan National, 2...."
Me: "what the...? sorry I can't tell you"
Her: "It's just what if during pilihan raya..."
Me: "sorry I don't want to participate in this survey" (She hung up)

My trolling friends, one asked them back who will they vote (answered BN), and laughed until he hung up, one received 2 calls, and few other friends just said they're busy, one tried to call back the phone number but totally no response (no connecting call sound)...

May I know what's going on? This is actually the first time my friends and I are old enough to register and vote, do you guys/girls receive similar calls in the past? And what can we do in these situations?

Thanks

Any good shops around me?

Thanks
