headphone recable guide es7

Got bored so decided to recable my ES7 using 18awg hi grade spc
18awg for headphone is the usual recommendation
so this is a simple guide which generally most headphones can follow
disclaimer - this guide only for those who dare cos u may damage ur headphones driver or any other things

laying out the 4x18awg 1.2m wires, notice one of the white sleeve is marked with a masking tape to differentiate left/right signal, while black wires are both return

clamp at one end for easy braiding later

marking where wires should split (30-45cm fr headphones would be enough)

mount on sth abt your height or lower so easier to braid (your choice of braiding litz or chain)
i used a variation of chain braiding so wires dont end up flat

done up with monster cable splitter for deco, u can use heat shrink instead
if u are making for earphones dont forget to insert ur cable management here too

this was taken from a senn hd25 -1 so got extra foam
remove all will reveal screws

unscrew both other earphones may be diff - notice tt right signal (red) left signal (green) copper return

easiest way to ensure which is signal mark the side with a marker

unsolder and remove the strain relief (easier for smaller wires)

solder the 3.5mm jack remember which side is left and right and set it accordingly
should have used canare f12 cos wires are too thick but manage to fit in

wires are too thick so have to remove the rubber grommet to fit in

solder the wires in
here do be careful and make sure all things cool down as the glue on the driver is soften and may break away from the driver rendering ur headphones useless.
something i learnt the hard way so carefully put it back in place be paitent

i also used a cable tie +heat shrink as strain relief

done and ready to be enjoyed
a nice black and white theme

sounds much better and bass department improved although for this headphone is marginal as the impedance only 32ohm for higher impedance headphones will likely be much better
only bad thing is heavier hahaha

special 8 braid cable

well my first post here since louis from audio hub recommend me to share here cos sgheadphone abit quiet
made this for a friend for his he6
using mil spec 18awg spc
rated for 1000v, 600v rms
I'm the proud owner of this cable, and I must say that my money for this was well spent. Compared to the stock, the cable makes the treble much, much clearer, opening up the music as a whole. Soundstage is wider, and trebles are extended beautifully.

I haven't noticed much about the bass change, with the HE 6's relatively weak bass being unaffected mostly. However take note that this is before any burn in of the cables, and I'll be looking forward to see if the bass improves.

Aesthetically wise, the cable is well made and exceptionally sturdy. One minor grouse is that the cable gets abit bulky and heavy at times, so it really is only practical for home listening.

All in all, the cable has really impressed me, and in fact surpasses my current Apuresound V3 cables, offering an edge in the treble department. Nekatrall is a patient and friendly seller, and I find it very heartening that one of our very own local DIYers can make cables to rival top US cable manufacturers. For those that desire crystal clear treble, this is the cable for you, and I will recommend this full heartedly to all you treble lovers out there.
[addedon]January 23, 2012, 1:04 pm[/addedon]hehe any1 interested can find me
