PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has nabbed another big fish – a suspect with a "Datuk" title who is the acting chief executive officer of a government-linked company (GLC).

Also detained was the international sales manager of the same GLC.

The suspects, aged 58 and 36, were arrested under a sting operation dubbed Ops Guinea by a team of MACC officers at about noon on Thursday.

The Datuk was nabbed at his house in Tropicana Indah here, while the sales manager was arrested at his residence in Taman Desa, Jalan Klang Lama.

They are said to have been involved in corrupt practices and abuse of power in relation to an e-passport project of a country in the African region.

Sources said both suspects had solicited bribes between 2013 and 2015.

Bribes were allegedly sought from the owner of a private overseas-based firm.

It is learnt that the GLC signed a contract with that country for a 15-year period to prepare for the implementation of the e-passport facility.

sos

Father takes on six armed robbers
Posted on 25 June 2013 - 07:44pm
Last updated on 25 June 2013 - 09:54pm
Charles Ramendran

KUALA LUMPUR (June 25, 2013): Six parang-wielding robbers who intruded into a house took to their heels when the house owner single-handedly turned the tables on them in Kepong on Monday.

The man said to be in his 40's was watching television with his family when two men armed with parangs stepped into his unlocked house at about 9pm.

He rushed to the kitchen to grab a piece of wood but spotted four other men armed with machetes climbing over his house fence.

The gutsy father of two then pounced on a robber and managed to disarm him after a brief struggle. Police said the man then armed himself with a parang the robber was carrying before disarming a second robber, taking away his weapon as well.

Holding a machete in each hand and shielding his wife and two children, he confronted the six robbers who had surrounded them.

A fierce fight ensued and a robber swung his parang at the victim severing his three fingers.

However, despite his injuries, the man struck back with his parang and dealt several blows on two robbers who sustained slash wounds on their hands and back.

Kuala Lumpur police CID chief SAC Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the six robbers then fled from the house with the victim in pursuit.

He said the robber managed to jump into their getaway car and as they sped off, the victim flung the machetes he was carrying at their vehicle, shattering the rear window of the car.

He said the victim was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital where he underwent surgery. He said police are on the hunt for the robbers.

Reinstate English medium schools

Source theSun 10 Jan 2013
http://www.thesundaily.my/news/585308

I find it rather odd that the goverment doesn't allow this. We have chinese, tamil and agama schools teaching languages preffered by communities that are inclined towards certain cultures and beliefs.

Since there are reports of drop in english standard in Malaysia, why is that the goverment is so afraid to implement an English medium school to co exist with National schools and National type (jenis kebangsaaan) schools? Is there a another hidden agenda here?

Anyway this is not a BN or PKR issues as both sides defended BM as the language to promote unity and bring about peace and tranquility blah blah blah....

Instead of importing teachers from India and US to improve our English standards, they should seriously consider to have English medium schools instead, almost a no brainer if you ask me

Civilian crime buster Joe Mahinder Singh

They should award the title to so such people and not to some bloke who has lots of cash and plunders all to some slimly middle man to get a titles from the Royalty!

PETALING JAYA (Dec 20, 2012): He is a household name in Subang Jaya – not for his towering size but rather how he has put it to use.

Civilian crime buster Joe Mahinder Singh holds a record of single-handedly apprehending 45 criminals and recovering 16 motorcycles and cars over the past 15 years, mainly in his township.

The 55-year-old Punjabi businessman, who stands at 186cm and weighs 100kg, has battle scars to show for his efforts. He has suffered bruises and torn muscles in making citizen's arrests on armed criminals, mainly snatch thieves and burglars.

His car and a 500cc cruiser motorcycle, used to chase snatch thieves, have also been damaged during such pursuits.

The latest case was in April when he apprehended a burglar whom he spotted breaking into his neighbour's house.

However, the burglar put up a fight and in the ensuing struggle, both men fell into a monsoon drain. The thief managed to escape while Mahinder sustained an ankle injury.

The injury has slowed him down and these days Mahinder, who is community policing head for SS14 and liaison officer for the township's police, has opted to fight crime by providing information to the police on criminal activities.

Yesterday, his efforts to fight crime was recognised by the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar during a function at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters.

Mahinder told theSun the letter of appreciation he received from the IGP was great motivation which he hopes will spur others to help the police fight crime.

"It is all about doing our part as civilians to fight crime. This does not mean everybody has to tackle a criminal; just making an effort to call the police on seeing a victim being attacked or sharing information with them can make a difference," he said

Joe Singh ki jai!!!!

means Long Live Joe Singh in urdu...hope its means the same in hindi

English Teachers from India?

I for one wouldn't want my children to sound like Indians from India, generally, I feel that our English is far better then them.

NEW DELHI: Indian nationals may soon be teaching English in Malaysia, in a bid to help alleviate the shortage of English teachers in Malaysia and to improve proficiency of the language.

"One of the suggestions I raised for the consideration of the Indian Prime Minister is for us to receive teachers in India who are fluent in English to teach our students in Malaysia.

"He welcomed the idea and will instruct the relevant ministry to hold discussions with the (Malaysian) Education Ministry to realise this," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to the Malaysian media delegation after meeting his counterpart Manmohan Singh here.

Najib is in New Delhi to attend the two-day Asean-India Commemorative Summit, which celebrates 20 years of Asean-India relationship.

Najib said the move would enhance the Government's efforts to alleviate the shortage of English teachers and improve proficiency in the language.

Malaysia has a similar arrangement with the United States, where 75 American teachers are currently teaching English in Malaysia.

When asked how many Indian teachers would come to Malaysia, Najib said the Education Ministry would look into the details and discuss the matter with their Indian counterparts.

On another matter, Najib said more education roadshows would be held in India to promote Malaysia as a destination for tertiary education.

"They (India) send many of their students overseas, so maybe they can look at Malaysia as an alternative (destination) for quality education which is competitively priced," he said.
Ahmedinejad - Hard Act to follow

The FoxNewsTV (USA) asked the Iranian President Ahmedinejad,

'When you look into the mirror in the morning what do you say to yourself?'

He answered: I see the person in the mirror and tell him 'Remember' you are no more than a small servant, ahead of you today is the heavy responsibility, and that is to serve the Iranian nation'.

Ahmedinejad, the Iranian President who astonished many when he first reached to the office of the Presidency by donating all the high valued Iranian carpets to one of the mosques in Tehran by replacing them with the low cost ordinary carpets. He observed that there was a huge extravagant lounge for receiving and welcoming the VIPs and he ordered it to be closed and asked the protocol office to arrange for an ordinary room only with wooden chairs.

On many instances he joins the cleaning staff of the municipality for cleaning the streets in the area where his home and the Presidency are located.

Under his authority whenever he appoints any minister to his post he gets a signed document from him with many points particularly highlighting that he shall remain poor and that his personal and his relatives accounts will be watched and the day he leaves the ministry shall be with dignity, and therefore it is not lawful for him or his relatives to take any advantage of his office.
First of all he declared himself for all the 'Big' wealth and the property he owned was a Peugeot 504 car, model 1977, an old small house inherited from his father 40-years ago in one of the poorest zones in Tehran . His accounts with a zero balance and the only money comes in to his a/c was from his salary from the university as a lecturer with an amount of US$250 only.

For your info rmation the President still lives in that same house. This is all what he owns; the president of one of the world's important countries; strategically, economically, politically and with regard to its oil and defense. He even doesn't take his personal salary with the argument that all the wealth belongs to the nation and he is the safeguard over it.

One of the things that impressed the staff at the presidency is the bag the President brings with him every day, which contains his breakfast; some sandwiches or bread with olive oil and cheese prepared by his wife and eats and enjoys it with all happiness.

One of the other things he changed was his personal carrier 'the President's Aircraft' to a cargo aircraft in order to save the spending from the public treasury and he ordered that he will be flying with the ordinary airline in the economy class.
He organizes meetings every now and then with all the ministers to know their activities and efficiency and he closed down the office of the Manager of the president and any minister can enter to his office without any permission. He also stopped the welcome ceremonies like the red carpet, the photo session or any personal advertisement or respect of any kind while visiting any place in the country.

Whenever he has to stay in any of the hotels he asks them to make sure not to give him a room with any big bed because he doesn't like to sleep on beds but rather likes to sleep on the floor on a simple mattress with a blanket...

Refer to some of the photographs which also confirm the above. The Iranian president is sleeping in the guest room of his house after getting away from his special guards who follow him wherever he goes and photo is taken by his small brother according to the Wifaq Newspaper which published this photo and the next day the photo was published in most of the world's newspapers and magazines and particularly the Americans.
During the prayer you can see that he is not sitting in the first row. And the final photo is of his dining room where the president is busy eating his simple meal.

TOO HARD to believe that this is true...But IT IS THE TRUTH!!!...

Can Bijan emulate this ?? Of course not...which politician in Malaysia drives a '77 504 PUG

EPL Players are overpaid and we are to be blamed.

This sort of news is totally disgusting. And we should take the blame partly as malaysia paid about MYR1 billion to watch EPL for the next 3 years. And see where the money ends up.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/...ound-notes.html

Is UMNO, MCA & MIC relavent?

While the UMNO general assembly goes into 5th gear and talks of GE13 reemerges , hence the question comes to my mind. Are these sub components relevant to our society or they are just there to "songlap" or milk the government.
The question is how come PKR exists without any sub components? Why do we need raced based components, which is rasicst in every way or form it stands for? Why the country can’t be ruled by a single party that doesn’t have any sub division that divide the Malaysian public. What happens when Chinese marry a Malay or Indian and the offspring marries another mixed marriage child? Which party (MIC, MCA , UMNO) does the person join. That is just one of the scenarios. However the most pertinent question here is, why divide the races, can't we work as A TEAM? The country would be better off if all races and creed work together as one. Dividing and ruling the country is bloody outdated, this is how the country was taken over by the British, and now our UMNO leaders are playing the race game again, by telling the country will face the same May 13 riots once more if opposition taken control of the government.

They instill fear and anger in the people if the opposition takes control, who knows what they bring to the table, give them a chance at least.

It is time we stand and vote smartly.
