Tile installation defect claim

Hi Guys,

We purchased our first house from a developer and last week we collected keys (VP with CCC but no electricity or water since the mains have been turned off). So we filled up the developer's Defect Complaint List which from what I read is the normal procedure. During the check the guy did help to identify some minor flaws such as cracks, untidy paint, untidy plaster etc. I think those can be fixed quite easily within the rectification period. Later during the weekend we went again and did a thorough check of the house and found quite a few tiles that sounded hollow, especially in the bathroom where it is tiled from floor to ceiling. Some of it are at the corners and some are smack in the middle of the tiles. Some were only filled about 40-50% (not sure about this as I am no expert but that is what is sounded like when I knocked the tiles with a solid object).

We submitted and updated defects list and I called the guy who did the VP with us. He told me tiles can only be replaced if more than 50% of tile sounds hollow. Is there such a thing?

My primary concern is the car porch which have hollow sounding tiles in several spots. I suspect the hollow spaces will crack if roll over them. For the wall tiles in the bathrooms, am I right that there is a risk of water seepage and the tiles may fall off?

I am under the impression any hollow sounding tiles should be replaced.

Need your help. I am helping my father who has gone overseas to sell of his car. My friends tell me he has to scan his thumbprint at JPJ office n there is no other way. Is this true?

I am sure this is not the first case such is this. How can it be settled? Any way he can authorize me to sell on his behalf?

Youth Housing Scheme

Hi All,

So one of the more meaningful items for me in the recently announced Budget 2015 is the Youth Housing Scheme.

QUOTE

Youth Housing Scheme which is a smart partnership between the Government, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Employees Provident Fund and Cagamas.

The scheme offers a funding limit for a first home not exceeding RM500,000 for married youth aged between 25 and 40 years with household income not exceeding RM10,000. The maximum loan period is 35 years.

Under the scheme, the Government will provide monthly financial assistance of RM200 to borrowers for the first two years to reduce the burden of monthly installments. The Government will also give a 50% stamp duty exemption on the instrument of transfer agreements and loan agreements.

The Government will also provide a 10% loan guarantee to enable borrowers to obtain full financing including cost of insurance. Borrowers can also withdraw from EPF Account 2 to top up their monthly installment and other related costs.

It is offered on a ‘first come first served basis’ for 20,000 units only

So this actually raises a few questions:
- How do we apply?
- When does the application open?
- Is the previous Skim Rumah Pertamaku now no longer valid?

Overcoming Private IP

Hi Everyone,

Referring to the topics below on problems with ISP issuing private IP giving problems, especially for business users. Mainly I see people use it for CCTV and I myself use it for alarm system. Therefore I would like to open a discussion a work-around for it.

Please correct any mistakes I make as I don't have a networking background.

1. Request public IP from ISP
- Call ISP directly and ask them to issue a public IP for your account.
- Cost: Free
- Success rate: I would say dependent on the ISP. I called YES 4G and they say they no longer provide this service. I demanded they produce a letter as an official statement and gave it to my customer. He wasn't too happy and neither was I
Any experience with other ISP? Can we definitely get a public IP upon request?

2. Signup for Fixed IP
- Subscribe to a fixed IP service
- Cost: quite expensive no? Unifi minimum 10Mbps at RM600 per month
- Success rate: Definitely works. Worry free.

3. ???

What killed my turbo?

Just looking for some opinion. This is a GSR TD04L standard turbo. The fins don't look bent but rather they're completely shattered at the tips. The fins are rather whitish looking but I also checked by plugs, they were fine. So something went through the turbo? Or too lean until the tips melted? Is it even possible for the fins to melt but engine is still running ok?

Please forgive my noobness. I am here to learn.

Summary:

- Location: SKVE/SILK highway interchange to LDP. approx. 3.15am on 4/4/2012
- Petronas tanker skidded and crashed into the longkang/ravine
- Driver managed to get away, lori burst into flames
- Police stopped traffic in direction heading to LDP
- Bomba arrived approx. 3.40am, emptied 1 tank (of i dunno what) then left
- approx. 4am another fire truck arrived with ambulance
- driver is said to be under the bridge, condition 50-50 (eyewitness account, came running from under the bridge).
- ambulance scared to pass through
- no cooperation between police/bomba/paramedics
- finally one abang went to the bomba and asked if its safe to pass
- paramedic commented "kalau pandai sangat buat sendiri la"
- approx. 4.10am ambulance passed through to the driver, after being pressured by the public
- i left
- got video but malas upload

Custom Clutch Cable

I believe clutch cable snapping/breaking is quite common, especially if we've changed to stiffer pressure plates, right?

So I'm wondering if custom clutch cables would solve the problem of them snapping and breaking? What I mean is we use thicker cables and stronger materials at the ends to make them sturdier?

Where can I get them made? And how much does it cost? I presume I'll need to at least provide a sample of the oem cables for length and so that they can replicate the ends that connects to pedal and gearbox, correct?

So I went to post some glass based products using Pos Malaysia just now. They made me sign on the form "buyer risk" meaning that if anything happens to the item, they are not responsible. This covers all of their services including pos laju. the lady even said 'kat sini kite jage baik2, tapi bile dah smpai kat handling kite x tau macam mana..jadi takde insurance'

wadafak? i think this is a stupid move. their services has been the most reliable and affordable so far. plus the number of branches makes it easier for the receivers to check in or collect their items. with this new policy, i can see them simply throwing things about, even worse than before. looks like i can no longer trust them with fragile and sensitive items.

Need advice on exhaust setup

Hi guys, I need some advice and clarification for exhaust setup for my kancil.

How do I ensure that the exhaust setup will be quite without sacrificing too much on performance? My current exhaust setup is a straight flow 2" from the front (turbo-back) following the original bends under the body. Only 1 muffler at the back. It had a nice and deep bassy sound when idle and cruising plus it wasn't too loud during acceleration.

I recently changed my engine (from 660 4-cylinders to 1.0 3-cylinders) and now the exhaust sound is really loud. Quite frankly it sounds like a lorry and screams like a motorboat during acceleration which really sucks

- So how do I get back that deep bassy sound?
- Will a bullet after the flexible pipe help?
- What's the difference between a normal/swirl bullet?
- Do I need to increase the piping size to maybe 2.3"?
- How does the inlet and outlet size affect the sound? Ex. 2" inlet and 3" outlet makes it louder or softer?
